DAISY AWARD
We are so excited to award our second ever DAISY Award here at CARTI! STEPHANIE CLARK IS DESCRIBED AS A TRUE TEAM PLAYER THAT TACKLES EVERY ASSIGNMENT WITH GRACE. “She always puts her patients first and holds their care at the highest regards. She’s built trust – not only amongst her co-workers-but within other departments as well. She eagerly accepts new challenges and has helped develop new processes. CARTI is committed to reducing barriers to care. Our resource coordinators provide specialized services designed to facilitate treatment and improve quality of life for our patients and their families. Areas of assistance for those who qualify include:
CARTI TEAM GIVING CAMPAIGN You Are The Difference
This past spring the Foundation launched the annual CARTI Team Giving Campaign and through the generosity of a record-breaking number of team members, more than $100,000 was raised for our patients.
Team members gave to the Patient Assistance Fund, The Bridge project, research, nursing and specific CARTI locations. This diversity of funding shows the passion we all feel towards a specific area of need.
“When I pass the digital screen at CARTI and see the list of CARTI team members that support me and other patients being treated here, my hope is lifted. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of so many of us going through this cancer journey.” – CARTI Patient
It is not too late to give to the CARTI Team Giving Campaign. The campaign runs through June 30, 2023. You can donate through payroll deduction or make a one-time gift.
Thank you to everyone who participates in some way to make the Patient Assistance Fund a reality for our patients! For more details on how to get involved, please contact the Foundation at 501.296.3406 or email us at CARTIFoundation@CARTI.com.

DID YOU KNOW….
TO GIVE
You can support CARTI while you shop! Every time you shop on Amazon or at Kroger, you can make difference for CARTI’s patients and programs.
AmazonSmile is operated by Amazon with the same products, prices, and shopping features as Amazon.com. The difference is that when you shop on AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products to CARTI Cancer Center. Eligible products are marked “Eligible for AmazonSmile donation” on their product detail pages.
HERE’S HOW TO SHOP AMAZON AND GIVE BACK TO CARTI:
On your first visit to AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com), you are prompted to select a charitable organization from our list of eligible organizations. You can change your selection at any time.
If you already use AmazonSmile and want to change your charitable organization to CARTI:
1. Sign in to smile.amazon.com on your desktop or mobile phone browser.
2. From your desktop, go to Your Account from the navigation at the top of any page, and then select the option to Change your Charity. Or, from your mobile browser, select Change your Charity from the options at the bottom of the page.

ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES
We have expanded CARTI Environmental Services (EVS) to Conway and Russellville. In relation to this we will also be expanding the CARTI EVS team to meet this increased demand. There are a few new positions posted if you know anyone who might be interested in joining the team, please reach out to Barry Jefferson and/or encourage them to apply.
We have added some additional leaders on the EVS team as well to assist with this expansion of services.
JOB SHADOWING AT CARTI
Please remember unpaid job shadows and unpaid interns have an application to be approved, prior to being onsite. This includes running a background check, immunization records sent to Occupational Health and completion of an application and other HR forms. Please allow enough time for these nonemployees to be screened, matched to a CARTI Liaison and their experience to be approved. For more information contact Beth Kutsch at 501.906.2679.
Paid interns require a requisition to be made and the typical application process (apply through Kronos) like a new hire. For more information contact Darcy Dillard at 501.296.3422.
FACILITIES
We have completed an organization-wide ergonomics improvement plan in the Lab areas throughout our organization. Thank you to everyone who played a role in making this happen as this has already made a significant positive impact for our Lab teammates.
We are working to add motorized door operators on the 3rd and 4th floor at CCC for patient access from the front waiting rooms. We have 16 doors total that need to be motorized and a portion of these doors have been changed out. Our plan is to add these at a rate of two per month until this work is completed.
PARKING PLAN FOR LITTLE ROCK
We continue to work towards finalizing the plan to identify parking spots, for patients coming to Little Rock, which will provide them with a parking space close to the entrances especially for our patients that have trouble with mobility.
SECURITY
We have brought many of our security services in-house to CARTI Security, and will be adding new team members to assist in this capacity.
If you have a security concern or question, please feel free to contact Conor Hayes at extension 6666.
IMPROVING PATIENT EXPERIENCE!

CARTI GRANT
ARKANSAS
CANCER COALITION GRANT
Today’s research is the standard of care for tomorrow!
The Research Department, in collaboration with the Radiology Department, is proud to announce that we have received a grant from the Arkansas Cancer Coalition (ACC) to expand our lung cancer screening program. Lung cancer is one of the deadliest cancers in Arkansas, and in alignment with our goal to “not leave any cancer patient behind,” we are focused on preventing deaths related to lung cancers diagnosed at an advanced stage. Five-year survival rates can exceed 70% when lung cancers are detected at an early stage.
As part of our screening program, eligible patients will undergo a smoking cessation program, a low dose computed tomography (LDCT) and will be invited to participate in a research study for a blood-based screening test. We are currently enrolling smokers and former smokers aged 55-77 (Medicaid/Medicare 5077) with a 30 pack year smoking history (20 pack year for Medicaid/Medicare) who have not, and are not, receiving treatment for lung cancer.
If you have any interested patients, please have them talk to their oncologist and complete the Lung Screening order form in the EMR, or they can call the Lung Screening line at 501.906.4454. Thank you for supporting this Lung Screening Program, we look forward to progress!
As of November 18, 297 patients had been treated by CYBERKNIFE. Congrats to everyone who has played a role in helping this be so incredibly successful!
We have expanded our SPACEOAR placement days in Little Rock and added this service to Pine Bluff to better meet the growing demand for this service. We are also the only Center of Excellence for SpaceOAR in the state.
We continue to recruit Medical Physicists and we currently have openings for our Searcy and El Dorado locations. If you know anyone who might be interested in joining the CARTI family, please contact Scott Yakoubian at 501.296.3204.

CARTI HAPPENINGS
ENGINEERING
Our engineering team members participated in educational opportunities to train them to service and support much of the new technology investments CARTI has made over the last several months. We have and will continue to make every attempt to do this in a manner which will not inhibit or encumber our operations. Having said that, even with the most elaborate planning and preparation, unfortunately there may be things that come up which are outside of any of our control (as is often the case with the incidents and occurrences our engineers respond to) and so I ask for your patience and understanding during the next few months as this training is critical to our long-term success and continued ability to support our large capital investments and expansion projects. If there are any questions/concerns related to this, please reach out to me by calling 501.296.3279.
Sincerely, Jim Beaty, Director of Engineering
