Staff Writer Reconstruction work on the Cordell Hull Bridge is nearing completion. Work on the bridge is expected to be completed sometime during the month of June, according to state transportation department community relations representative Deanna Lambert, who said no specific date has been set for the opening. The bridge is expected to open when reconstruction work has been completed. Concrete replacement work on the structure has been completed, but there is still some steel framework to be done on the Carthage side of the bridge, Lambert said. Painting of the steel framework is nearing completion. The bridge will be silver, the same color as when constructed. Guardrails and new light fixtures still have to be installed, Lambert said. Smith County High School will be celebrating “A Century on the Hill” as the high school turns 100. The celebration will be from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, April 26. The program will include a welcome at 2:15 p.m. and opening statements in the school’s auditorium. A cake cutting

will be held in the cafeteria at 3 p.m.. The event will feature performances by the Smith County After School Theater’s Oklahoma cast. Memorabilia will be on display in the lobby of the school.
