acknowledgements

Thank you, Mom, Dad, and Grant, for being at every concert, putting me into band in 5th grade, and dealing with my obsession with music from day one. I'm sure all you wanted me to do was shut up about it sometimes. Thanks for buying me reeds too :) I would also like to thank my Carthage friends for supporting me through the many ups and downs. All the hours spent in the practice rooms, the jac lounge, and all the shenanigans together have made this the most amazing adventure ever. Extra love to those who were a part of this recital and special thanks to Jenna, who will forever be Pookie, even from 1,000 miles away. Thank you, Dr. Ripley, for your support and guidance in everything, and Charlene for welcoming me into the violin studio with open arms. A very special thanks to Dr. K for all the support, advice, tough love, and even for throwing almonds at me when I didn’t play loud enough. Without all this support, I would not be standing on this stage today. Shout out to all the fantastic music educators who have impacted my life in school growing up, and here at Carthage. I cannot wait to spread the joy of music to my future students. Finally, infinite love to Grandma Gloria and Oma for watching over me and smiling at all the great things I've done. God gave me the gift of music, and I am eternally grateful for his love, guidance, and wisdom through it all. Luke 12:27, Psalm 149:3

Arts at Carthage acknowledges that the land on which our building stands is part of the traditional Potawatomi, Sioux, Peoria, Kickapoo, and Miami peoples past, present, and future. These homelands reside along the southwest shores of Michigami, North America’s largest system of freshwater lakes. We honor with gratitude the land itself, and the people who have stewarded it throughout the generations. Many Indigenous peoples thrive in this place—alive and strong, and this calls us to commit to continuing to learn how to be better stewards of the land we inhabit as well.
