Book signing to be held at Elma Ross Library Brownsville author John J. Mask has returned again with his follow-up to his first book, “One Man’s Mind.” His second book, with artwork from family members Floyd and Dana Mask, “Revealing the Mask,” was recently released. Although the book was planned to have immediately followed his first book, there were a few hitches that delayed its release. “It basically took six months to get everything together,” Mask said. Mask, the son of Floyd Mask Sr. and Darlene Nelson, kept himself busy before the publishing of his second book, speaking around the West Tennessee area, participating in mentorship programs and book signings of his first work. “One thing you’ve got to realize is that when you’ve got that door open, you’ve got to try to take advantage of any opportunities because you never know when it might close,” he said. Mask described his book as a piece that

gives more insight and in-depth to a number of subjects, from our nation growing apart to even racism, which perhaps differs from Mask’s first book of poems, which was perhaps more interpersonal. Most of Mask’s inspiration came from his wife, Marie Mask, and his mother who passed away last year. “Most of my inspirations came through my mom,” he said. She said ‘I want you to continue doing this because I’m so proud of you.” Mask has remained grateful for the people of Brownsville being very supportive of his work and will hope that support continues, as they read, listen or tell others about his work, he said.

Mask will hold a book signing at the Elma Ross Library March 5 from 1 to 4 p.m. In the meantime, people can pick up “Revealing the Mask” at the Brownsville Religious Center or at www. feelmepublishing. com.
