Notas Doradas Zijin - Continental Gold Women Special

From our CEO Female talent in our company! At present everyone is talking about the strength of women in the energy mining sector. Women have gradually made their way to gain a vote of confidence and respect for their work in a traditionally male-dominated environment. Today we are pleased to see that our Mining Formalization Manager, Claudia Uribe, is one of three Colombian women chosen among 1,100 women worldwide to be part of the 2020 # WIM100 publication, which highlights female talent within the global mining industry. Claudia is an example of the talented and dedicated women in our Company, where her female presence is evident in every step. The issue is so important that the Ministry of Mines and Energy is promoting the Gender Equity Policy. Our Public Affairs and Communications Manager, Monica Pinzon, represents us on the Advisory Council, which is part of the Ministry's strategies. She is also a member of the Gender Equity Committee of the Colombian Mining Association (ACM) and a member of the Positioning Committee of Women in Mining Colombia. We could mention outstanding women in this Colombian sector: the current Vice-Minister of Mines, Sandra Sandoval Valderrama; and other women who, even though they are no longer in their positions, they continue to work for the role of women in mining; for example, the former Minister of Mines and Energy, María Fernanda Suárez; or the former ANM President, Silvana Habib. Our Company is not unaware of this reality. 21% of Zijin-Continental Gold staff are women. Women operate and fix heavy machinery, organize budgets, closely support the community, assist in formalization efforts and contribute to many other tasks with commitment, but especially with love. Let's help the women we count on to shine. Let's be proud to have them in our company. This is the time for women in mining. We are committed to equity. It is everyone's job to ensure that it happens.

Vanessa is happy in her dump truck Vanessa Cano is from Buritica. She has been in the mining area for two years. She and 10 other women operate heavy machinery in our Buriticá Mine. She operates a 30-ton TH 430 dump truck, which loads mining material inside the tunnel. She is the mother of two sons. She is a wife, daughter, sister, and claims that her co-workers have become her other family. She remembers fondly that her mom cried when she graduated. "She, my husband, and my children supported me the most to study the Underground Work Technique.”

"I am happy to do what I do. I enjoy it and I love my work. I want to stay here much longer," she says.

Her and her co-workers' dream was to operate heavy machinery. The Company hired her because she is disciplined. She didn't hesitate when they offered to operate the dump truck. She recognizes the contribution of good co-workers and an ex-manager who always encouraged her. He told her that she was very "tesa" (dedicated) and that she could make it.

Gisselle knows the importance of taking opportunities In addition to having the talent of women joining the mine's tunnels, we also have other women working in different areas. Gisselle Cristina Duque, who graduated in December 2019 as a Building Construction Technician, is now part of the Civil Works team. Giselle heard about the call when she was selling coffee and buñuelos at Calle de Abajo, in Buriticá. She is happy to work for the Company and recognizes the opportunities it provides. One of her sons studied Mechanical Maintenance Technique. The second one is studying Heavy Machinery Technique. The third one, is studying another one studied and completed with her the Building Construction Technique. We have received this invitation from Gisselle: "I invite all people, especially women, to study, train, take advantage of opportunities to advance and move forward.”

Monica offers her talent to HR Mónica Úsuga is joyful, charismatic, helpful, and a mother. She is a Buritica inhabitant who started as Secretary of Mines in the Operations Management, 11 years ago. She is currently in charge of administrative Human Resources issues, where she has learned from everything, since she first put her talent at the service of the Recruitment department and then in the Training and Development area. Her desire to continue growing and contributing to her area of work led her to study psychology. "I am very grateful to the company for all these years of stability. I have grown a lot in my work and I am finishing my academic program thanks to my work".

"I always try to see the positive side to the difficulties."

Monica is happy in her area where she admires the contribution of all its members. In addition, she appreciates the importance they give to the role of women. "We work hard to make a positive impact on all of our co-workers. Women, with our unique way of looking at life, contribute to achieve this.

Golden women! You will find in these pages brave, studious, loving, fighting, dedicated women who are eager to move forward, for themselves and their families. At every step taken by women, they contribute a little bit to continue consolidating an exceptional modern mining company. This is how our women are. We invite you to meet some of them!

We are Proud of our Mining Women Valentina Graciano and Lina Ramos were finalists in the Mujer Minera Antioquia 2020 contest. Lina, from the HSE department, won the Outstanding Mining Woman category. This award was presented by the Government of Antioquia. It highlights the leadership, empowerment, and commitment of women miners to the company, their peers, and communities. In the same ceremony, our company received the 2020 Corporate Seal for the second consecutive year.

"Women put our hearts into it," Piedad. Piedad Cristina Méndez has been living in Buriticá for more than 20 years. She has a degree of Bachelor of Arts in Ethno-education with an emphasis on social studies. She most enjoys cooking for her husband and two children in her free time. Four years ago, she came to the Company after applying for a job. She started in the Exploration area, where she worked for two years. Then, she joined the Social Management team in the area of direct influence. There are more women than men the area she works at. She ensures that women and men together combine their strengths to carry out the mission of supporting the community. At first glance, Piedad is a quiet, analytical woman with a big smile. Piedad thinks that women's work in mining is increasingly visible. "This is very important for me because we see that women are managing to overcome barriers that emerge simply because we are women. We can prove ourselves that we are competent to do what we are trying to do, and in this case, we can help these communities to move forward.”

"We know how to use our sixth sense, our heart, our responsibility, and the delicacy in dealing with people.”

Skills and passion characterize the 12 brigade members of the Buriticá Mine 15 of the 76 brigadiers of Zijin-Continental Gold are women. Three of them are in the Metropolitan Area and twelve are in the Mine, where they train for emergency responses. Kelly, Diana, Estefanía, Lina, Laura, Liliana, Natalia, Verónica, Luz Marina, Sonia, Luz Adriana, and Mery show in every rescue mission that they are experts, and that traditional "men" jobs are a thing of the past. Women are not intimidated. They are strategists and plan every tactic with discipline. When women are on a rescue mission or exercise, they are analytical and know how to work as a team. They respect each of the roles assigned and offer the best of themselves. Six of them are trained as mine rescue workers. The same ones who wrote a very important achievement last year in the Mining Rescue Olympics. They faced (together with seven male co-workers), the elite of mining search and rescue groups in Colombia. Their skill and passion stood out in the results. "I am proud of them. They are girls who are trained from scratch. They always arrive with a good attitude, dynamism, and commitment. Many people do not imagine there are warriors behind her delicacy and femininity," Diego Jimenez, Emergency Coordinator, said. November 2020

Stella Yan always wanted to know Colombia Stella Yan (Yinzi Yan) was born in Hubei Province, China. She arrived in our country in August this year, although she started working for Zijin-Continental Gold in June. When she was studying at New York University (NYU), she remembers with love that, while working in a group, a Colombian classmate taught them about the culture of our country. Since then, traveling to Colombia was on Stella's wish list. So, when the Zijin Mining Group's Human Resources Manager told her about this project, she did not hesitate to join it. Stella joined Zijin Mining Group in 2018, headquartered in Xiamen City, Fujian Province, China, as a Training Specialist, Recruiter, and Human Resources Business Partner. What she enjoys most about her job is meeting new people, learning from them, continuing to attract the best human talent and strengthening the Company.

"My Colombian co-workers are so nice and always make me feel at home. Working with them is my great honor and a blessing”

She speaks proudly of her mother, Deputy Director of her hometown's Office of Justice, and of her younger brother, who will be going to college next year. Although she likes Colombian food, she also misses her country's dishes. She explains that she is flattered in the Company.

More women join the Mining Techniques program Since the Zijin-Continental Gold Mining Techniques program was launched by the National Learning Service (SENA), more and more women from Western Antioquia are interested in being a part of these studies. The evolution of the groups that have gone through this program has shown this. In 2018, the first groups graduated in Underground Work Technique, Assembly Technique, and Electromechanical Maintenance of Underground Mining Facilities, including 19 women and 34 men. So far, 81 of the 199 young people in Western Antioquia who have graduated in mining techniques are women. Today, there are two groups being trained with a total of 67 students. 37 students are women in this group, which corresponds to 55%. Diana Betancur, graduated in Underground Work Technique in 2018 "I was proud to be one of the first women certified in the country on this matter, although not many people believed we would make it. However, we had the opportunity and the support of the Company to open the way for other women. I see today that we have gained credibility among the community and that more women want to follow our example.
