Natural Adaptions Project
‘‘Rounds Coffee Shop and Wine Bar, located on Emma Street in Springdale, Arkansas, combines a cozy coffee shop and a sophisticated wine bar under one roof, with a focus on sustainable design. The space is divided into two distinct sections: the coffee shop, open during the day, is bright and welcoming, while the wine bar, open in the evenings, has a darker, more intimate feel.
A striking bamboo partition wall is the centerpiece of the design, dividing the coffee shop and wine bar. This wall not only serves as a physical divider but also lets light filter through, adding warmth and creating a smooth transition between the two spaces. The bamboo used in the wall was chosen for its sustainability, as it’s a renewable material with a minimal carbon footprint.
In the coffee shop area, light-colored materials and natural finishes create a refreshing and inviting atmosphere, perfect for starting the day. The wine bar, on the other hand, features darker, moodier materials that set a relaxed, upscale tone for the evening. Throughout the design, locally sourced, eco-friendly materials were chosen to minimize environmental impact, making Rounds Coffee Shop and Wine Bar a thoughtful blend of style and sustainability.

A Library of Things Project
‘‘Cube Fusion is a studio project focused on designing a tool library that fosters sustainability, resource sharing, and community engagement. A tool library operates like a traditional library but provides tools instead of books, allowing members of the community to rent tools for various projects. The design emphasizes modular and adaptable spaces, using the cube as a metaphor for structural efficiency and simplicity. Cube Fusion provides a centralized hub where users can easily browse, borrow, return, and learn about tools, offering an affordable and sustainable alternative to purchasing. By integrating sustainable materials and energy-efficient systems, the project highlights circular design principles, reducing waste and extending the lifecycle of resources. Balancing functionality and aesthetics, Cube Fusion creates a dynamic environment where the community can connect, gain knowledge, and engage in hands-on projects, empowering individuals while promoting environmental responsibility.

In Paderborn, Germany located at Kisau 16, 33098 there is a building that has been through a lot just like the residents that are going to live the rest of their lives here. For my design concept of the adaptive reuse final project my first thought when I started this project was my grandparents and how much they have been through in their lives. I got insight on what they would want if they ever moved into senior independent living and what they would expect out of it. I took their insight and used into throughout the whole building, making it comfortable but also bright, lively, and young. I wanted my residents to walk in and feel immediately at home. I want them to walk in and feel like they have their whole life ahead of them again, so in my public spaces I used bright and patterned materials to make it lively and to make it feel like a new experience and not just a normal senior living. The resident units are more neutral and soft color pallet to make it customizable to them. I want this building to be part of the town and cater to the community around it and give back in a new look.
