EQUIPMENTCONSIDERATIONS
MachineGuards
Beforeusinganymachine,checktoensurethatthe machineguardsareinpositionandserviceable. Theseguardsnotonlypreventpartsofthebodyor clothingcomingincontactwiththemovingpartsof themachine,butalsowardoffobjectsthatmightfly offthemachineandcauseinjury.
LiftingDevices
Alwaysensurethatliftingequipment,suchaschains, slings,liftingbrackets,hooksandeyes,are thoroughlycheckedbeforeuse.Ifindoubt,select strongerequipmentthanisnecessary.
Neverstandunderasuspendedloadorraised implement.
CompressedAir
Thepressurefromacompressed-airlineoften exceeds690bar(100PSI).Itisperfectlysafeifused correctly.Anymisusemaycauseinjury.
Neverusecompressedairtoblowdust,filing,anddirt awayfromyourworkareaunlessthecorrecttypeof nozzleisfitted.
LiftingProtection

HandTools

Electricity

Beforeusinganyelectricalequipment-particularly portableappliances-makeavisualchecktomake surethatthewiringisnotwornorfrayedandthatthe plugsandsocketsareintact.Makesureyouknow wherethenearestisolatingswitchforyour equipmentislocated.
GENERALCONSIDERATIONS
Solvents
Usecleaningfluidsandsolventsthatareknowntobe safe.Certaintypesoffluidscancausedamageto components,suchasseals,andcancauseskin irritation.Solventsshouldbecheckedthattheyare suitablenotonlyforthecleaningofcomponentsand individualparts,butalsothattheydonotaffectthe personalsafetyoftheuser.
Housekeeping

Cleanliness
Cleanlinessofthetractorhydraulicsystemis essentialforoptimumperformance.Whencarrying outserviceandrepairs,plugallhoseendsand componentconnectionstopreventdirtentry.
Cleantheexteriorofallcomponentsbeforecarrying outanyformofrepair.Dirtandabrasivedustcan reducetheefficiencyandworkinglifeofacomponent andleadtocostlyreplacement.Useofa high-pressurewasherorsteamcleanerisrecommended.
OPERATIONALCONSIDERATIONS
Stoptheengine,ifatallpossible,beforeperforming anyservice.

Fire
Firehasnorespectforpersonsorproperty.The destructionthatafirecancauseisnotalwaysfully realized.Everyonemustbeconstantlyonguard.
Extinguishmatches,cigars,andcigarettesbefore throwingthemaway.
Alwaysturntheradiatorcaptothefirststoptoallow pressureinthesystemtodissipatewhenthecoolant ishot.
Neverworkbeneathatractorwhichisonsoftground. Alwaystaketheunittoanareawhichhasahard workingsurface,preferablyconcrete.
Ifitisfoundnecessarytoraisethetractorforeaseof servicingorrepair,makesurethatsafeandstable supportsareinstalledbeneathaxlehousings, casings,etc.,beforestartingwork.
Certainrepairoroverhaulproceduresmaynecessitateseparatingthetractor,eitherattheengine/transmissionortransmission/rearaxlelocation.These operationsaresimplifiedbytheuseoftheTractor SplittingStands.Shouldthisequipmentnotbe available,everyconsiderationmustbegivento stability,balanceandweightofthecomponents, especiallyifacabisinstalled.
Usefootstepsorworkingplatformswhenservicing thoseareasofatractorthatarenotwithineasyreach.
Beforelooseninganyhosesortubesconnecting implementstoremotecontrolvalves,etc.,switchoff theengine,removeallpressureinthelinesby operatingleversseveraltimes.Thiswillremovethe dangerofpersonalinjurybyoilpressure.
Priortopressuretesting,makesureallhosesand connectorsofthetractorandthetestequipmentare ingoodconditionandtightlysealed.Pressure readingsmustbetakenwiththegaugesspecified. Thecorrectprocedureshouldberigidlyobservedto preventdamagetothesystemortheequipment,and toeliminatethepossibilityofpersonalinjury.
WARNING
Escapinghydraulic/dieselfluidunderpressure canpenetratetheskincausingseriousinjury.
Donotuseyourhandtocheckforleaks.Usea pieceofcardboardorpapertosearchforleaks. Stoptheengineandrelievepressurebefore connectingordisconnectinglines. Tightenallconnectionsbeforestartingthe engineorpressurizinglines.
Ifanyfluidisinjectedintotheskin,obtain medicalattentionimmediatelyorgangrenemay result.
Useìpositioncontrolîwhenequipmentorimplementsarerequiredtobeattachedtothehydraulic linkageeitherfortestingpurposesorfortransportation.
Alwayslowerequipmenttothegroundwhenleaving thetractor.

Kinked,crushed,stretchedordeformedhoses generallysufferinternalstructuraldamagewhichcan resultinoilrestriction,areductioninthespeedof operationandultimatehosefailure.
Free-moving,unsupportedhosesmustneverbe allowedtotoucheachotherorrelatedworking surfaces.Thiscauseschafingwhichreduceshose life.
ORINGFLATFACESEALFITTINGS
WhenrepairingOringfacesealconnectors,the followingproceduresshouldbeobserved.
WARNING
Neverdisconnectortightenahoseortubethat isunderpressure.Ifindoubt,actuatethe operatingleversseveraltimeswiththeengine switchedoffpriortodisconnectingahoseor tube.
1.Releasethefittingsandseparatethehoseor tubeassembly,thenremoveanddiscardtheO ringsealfromthefitting.
2.DipanewOringsealintocleanhydraulicoilprior toinstallation.InstallanewOringintothefitting and,ifnecessary,retaininpositionusing petroleumjelly.
3.Assemblethenewhoseortubeassemblyand tightenthefittingfingertight,whileholdingthe tubeorhoseassemblytopreventitfromturning.
4.Usetwosuitablewrenchesandtightenthefitting tothespecifiedtorqueaccordingtothesizeofthe fitting.Refertothefollowingtorquechart.
