Thisoperator'smanualisintendedasaguideforthecorrect useandmaintenanceofthemachine.Readthismanual carefullybeforeyoustartandmovethemachineorbeforeyou carryoutanypreventivemaintenance. Keepthismanualinthelockablestoragecompartmentsothat itisalwaysavailableforeasyreference.Replaceit immediatelyifitislost.
Theoperator'smanualdescribestheapplicationsforwhichthe machinewasprimarilydesigned.Ithasbeenwrittentobevalid onallmarkets.Therefore,pleaseignoreanysectionswhich donotrelatetoyourmachineortotheworkthatyoudowith yourmachine.

Thecabisapprovedasaprotectivestructure accordingtothefollowingstandards:

TheOPGlevel2isanoption.
Thesetestsarebasedontheheaviestmachine weightconfiguration,unlessotherwisestated.
Ifanypartofthecab’sprotectivestructureis affectedbyplasticdeformationorrupture,thecab shallbeimmediatelyreplaced.
Ifthemachineisequippedwithacab,i.e.withside windowsandsidedoor,itwillhaveheatingand ventilation.Therearwindowcanbebrokenwithan emergencyhammerandusedasanemergency exit.
Nevercarryoutanyunauthorisedalterationstothe cabwithoutfirstdiscussinganyplannedalterations tothecabwithalocalauthoriseddealeror distributor.VolvoConstructionEquipmentwill decidewhetherthealterationmaycausethe TOPS-,ROPS-andOPG-approvaltobecomevoid.
Hydraulicsystem
Closedcircuithydraulicload-sensingsystem, allowingfullindependenceoftheindividual movements.
Equipment
Themachinecanbeprovidedwithdifferenttypes ofoptionalequipment,dependingonthe requirementsofdifferentmarkets.Examplesof suchequipmentareattachmentquickcouplerand hydraulicbreaker.
Modifications
Modificationsofthismachineanditscomponents suchasthetractionvoltagesystem,includingthe useofunauthorizedattachments,accessories, units,orparts,mayaffectthemachine'sintegrity (condition),themachine'sabilitytofunctioninthe wayforwhichitisdesignedandvoidstheEUtypeapprovalofthemachineandthetractionvoltage system.Personsororganizationsperforming unauthorizedmodificationsassumeall responsibilityforconsequencesthatarisedueto modificationsorcanbeattributedtomodifications, includingdamagestothemachine.
Nomodificationsofanykindmaybeperformedon thisproductunlesseachspecificmodificationfirst hasbeenapprovedinwritingbyVolvoConstruction Equipment.VolvoConstructionEquipment reservestherighttorejectallwarrantyclaimsthat havearisenduetoorcanbetracedtounauthorized modifications.
Unauthorisedmodificationsontheupperframecan haveaninfluenceontheROPSprotectionsystem whichisintendedtosecurethedriverincaseofan accident.
Modificationsmaybeconsideredtobeofficially approved,ifatleastoneofthefollowingconditions hasbeenmet:

2Themodificationhasbeenapprovedinwriting bytheEngineeringDepartmentfortherelevant productlineatVolvoConstructionEquipment.
Travelsystem
Thetravelmotionisaccomplishedbythemain chassisviatworubbertracks(steeltracksavailable asoption).Thetracksareeachdrivenbyatwo speedtravelmotor.
Slewingsystem
Theslewingringisdrivenbyahydraulicmotor, whichisprotectedagainstexcesspressurebyhigh pressurereliefvalves.
Anti-theftdevice
(optionalequipment)
Aninstalledanti-theftdevicemakesitmoredifficult tostealthemachine.VolvoCEmaysupplyantitheftprotectionaspartofthemachinecontrol system.Ifyourmachineisnotyetequippedwith one,checkthepossibilitiesofhavingsuchadevice installedbyaqualifiedservicetechnician.
CareTrack
(optionalequipment)
ThemachinemaybeequippedwithCareTrack,a telematicssystemdevelopedbyVolvo ConstructionEquipment.
CareTrackmakesiteasiertoplanforserviceand reducescostlydowntime. Italsoallowsthecustomertorestricttheoperating areaofthemachine,byusingvirtualfences.This helpstoeliminateunauthorizedmachineuseand theft.CareTrackisavailableindifferentversions, dependingontherequiredinformationlevel.For furtherinformationcontactaVolvoConstruction Equipmentdealer.
TheCareTracksystemtransmitsdata,inthesame wayamobilephonedoes,withamaximumoutput rateof10W.Thetransmitterisalwaysonandthe operatorcannotswitchitoff.

EUEMCDirective
Theelectronicequipmentofthemachinemayin somecasescauseinterferencetootherelectronic equipment,orsufferfromexternalelectromagnetic interference,whichmayconstitutesafetyrisks. TheEUEMCdirectiveabout"Electromagnetic compatibility",2014/30/EU,providesageneral descriptionofwhatdemandscanbemadeonthe machineoutofasafetypointofview,where permittedlimitshavebeendeterminedandgiven accordingtointernationalstandards.
Amachineordevicewhichmeetstherequirements shouldbeCEmarked.Ourmachineshavebeen testedparticularlyforelectromagneticinterference. TheCEmarkingofthemachineandthedeclaration ofconformityalsocovertheEMCdirective. Protectionagainstelectromagneticinterference
ThismachinehasbeentestedaccordingtoEU's directive2014/30/ECthatregulates electromagneticinterference.Therefore,itisvery importantthatallnon-approvedelectronic accessories,suchascommunicationequipment, aretestedbeforetheyareinstalledandused,since theymayinterferewiththemachine'selectronic system.
Guidelinesforinstallingaerial
Theguidelineslistedbelowmustbefollowed duringinstallation: Thepositionoftheaerialmustbeselectedto providesatisfactoryadaptationtothesurrounding area.
Theaerialdownleadmustbeofthecoaxialcable type.Makesurethatthecableisundamaged,that thescreenisnotsplitattheendsandthatit thoroughlysurroundsthecontactsheathsand hasgoodgalvaniccontactwiththesame. Thesurfacebetweenthemountingbracketforthe aerialandthepointofattachmentmustbefree fromdirtandoxide.Applycorrosionprotectionto thesurfacesafterinstallationsothatgood galvaniccontactismaintained. Takecaretoseparatecablesthatmaycause interferencefromthosewhichmaysuffer interference.Cablesthatmaycauseinterference arevoltagefeedcablesandtheaerialcabletothe communicationequipment.Cablesthatmay sufferfrominterferenceareconnectingcablesfor theelectronicsofthemachine.Installcablesas closeaspossibletoplatesurfaceswhichare connectedtoground(earthed),asthesehavea screeningeffect.
