PEOPLE THAT DECORATE EARLY FOR CHRISTMAS ARE HAPPIER August 13, 2020 by MURPHY MORONEY If you are one of those families that has their tree decorated, the lights up, the Christmas village out and in full swing by Nov. 1, you might be in luck.

According to experts, decorating for Christmas early may make you happier, so you might want to consider pulling your garlands and gigantic Santas out a bit sooner.

"In a world full of stress and anxiety, people like to associate with things that make them happy, and Christmas decorations evoke those strong happy feelings. Psychoanalyst, Steve McKeown told Unilad. "Decorations are simply an anchor or pathway to those old childhood magical emotions of excitement. So putting up those Christmas decorations early extends the excitement!" That seems logical enough.

Pyschotherapist Amy Molin agreed, explaining that Christmas decorations can take you back to a simpler time, at least mentally. "Nostalgia helps link people to their personal past, and it helps people understand their identity. For many, putting up Christmas decorations early is a way for them to reconnect with their treasured memories." She also says that it can help those who have lost someone feel closer to the loved one in question, adding that "decorating early may help them feel more connected with that individual."

Holiday Style HolidayTraditions Raise your hand if you love a good holiday tradition. In December, I love going to pick out a fresh cut tree, decorating the tree while listening to our favorite Christmas music, driving around to admire the Christmas lights, making cookies and other sweets, watching the Hallmark Christmas movies, and so much more. These traditions coupled with our focus on the true meaning of Christmas always make me feel a little sentimental this time of year.

I love Tradition, but I also love trying new things and creating new memories that just might become a new tradition. Don't you?

Southern Collard Greens recipe NICOLE NARED-WASHINGTON BROWN SUGAR FOOD BLOG Prep Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 5 hoursTotal Time: 5 hours 15 mins Yield: 6-8 1serving DESCRIPTION Plenty of flavor and savory smoked pork or turkey that makes this Southern Collard Greens Recipe divine! Perfect for your Holiday meal!

INGREDIENTS 2–16 oz. Bags of Collard Greens, cut and cleaned 3 tbsp. Seasoned salt 1 tbsp. Black ground pepper 2 tsp. Red Crushed Pepper 1 tbsp. Onion powder 1 tbsp. Garlic powder 1 tsp. Smoked paprika 2 Ham Hocks or Smoked Turkey Tails INSTRUCTIONS Fill a large 10 quart pot with water about 2/3rds full.

Add the seasoned salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder, red crushed pepper, smoked paprika, and smoked ham hocks or smoked turkey tails. Bring the water to a boil and cook the meat with seasonings for 45 minutes.

Using tongs, remove the meat from the water. Use a fork to the hold the meat and use a knife to slice the meat with your other hand. Once most of the meat has been cut, add the meat, including the bone, back into the water. Add the greens to the seasoned water and cook for, at least 4 hours on a medium boil. If there is too much water in the pot to where it is overflowing, carefully remove some of the excess water and cover with lid and continue to cook for 4 hours or longer (preferably HOLIDAY

If you have pimento wood available use it with the coal. Alder wood chips is also a good substitute.Put the turkey on the barbeque grill and cover it. Let the smoke soak in the flavor. Leave it on the grill for 2 hours turning it so each side gets “smoke� from the coal.Read the direction on the Oven Turkey bag. Using a oven bag will reduce the cooking time of the turkey. If you do not have a Oven Turkey bag set the oven to 325 degrees and cook the turkey for 3 hours. As the turkey cooks, baste frequently, using the mixture that was injected into the legs and the breast.Place the turkey in the Oven turkey bags. Many Oven turkey bags require cuts be made in the bag. Place the turkey in the Oven turkey bagsin your roasting pan.Place the turkey in the oven and bake according to the instruction on the oven turkey bag regarding the time and temperature.When the turkey is cooked remove the oven bag. Leave the juices in the roasting pan as it will make a great gravyStuff the turkey to your liking and then put back in the oven at a low temperature to keep it warm.Remove the turkey 20 minutes before carving.

DIRECTIONS In a blender, combine vodka, Prosecco, blue curaรงao, lemonade, and ice.

Blend until combined.Run a lemon wedge around the rim of each glass then dip in sanding sugar.Pour frosties into rimmed glasses and serve immediately.

HOLIDAY COCKTAILS RECIPES Chocolate Peppermint Martini Decadent and creamy chocolate peppermint martini cocktail. So full of chocolate flavor.

Ingredients 1 ounce vodka 1 ounce creme de cocoa 2 ounces chocolate liqueur (I used Godiva) 1/2 ounce peppermint schnapps 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup Crushed candy canes to garnish the rim

INSTRUCTIONS Begin by preparing your martini glass. Rim the edge of the glass with the chocolate syrup; then dip it into crushed peppermint candies or crushed candy canes. Set glass aside.

Add the chocolate liqueur, vodka, creme de cacao, chocolate liquer and peppermint schnapps to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and then strain into your prepared martini glass.
