Carroll and Sons is pleased to announce the opening of Screen Dreams – paintings by William DiBello. This is the first solo exhibition for DiBello with the gallery and the inaugural exhibition in our new space. The exhibition includes four paintings from the series Screen Dreams each measuring 96 x 72� and a selection of works on paper. The reception for the exhibition will be Friday, December 1st, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. The four paintings in Screen Dreams are from a series of nine that are the outcome of a two-year project exploring the overlap between the screens of our smart phones and tablets and the language of abstract painting. The paintings ruminate on the flickering light, color and organizing structures of our electronics and their parallels to the points, lines and matrixes that are common to the history of abstraction. The large paintings fluctuate between rigid grid-based structures and irregular, fluid gestures that create a contrast between static and dynamic energies. The visual effect of these energies speak to the range of expression that exists within painting language and to the oscillating current that powers the technology that consumes contemporary life.

William DiBello holds a BFA from Temple University and an MFA in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design. His work has been included in several group exhibitions organized by the gallery including initially Global Pop at the Mills Gallery, Boston Center for the Arts in 2006 and most recently No Boys Allowed in the gallery in 2016. His work is in the collection of Fidelity Investments and many private collections. DiBello lives and works in Philadelphia, PA.
