Performance
Please accept this as your personal invitation to the annual Horsley Brothers production sale. What a year we have had. We have never seen demand for cattle so strong. It is truly a great feeling to be in the cattle business. We hope that your holiday season went well for you and wish you a happy new year.
This year it is exciting for us to put together this offering of cattle. A lot of the cattle offered are out of bulls we raised, or we bought, and we feel they are as strong of a group as ever. This year we are offering bulls out of a HB Growth Fund 2044 and HB Tahoe 2065. The HB Growth Fund 2044 are truly a high-performance group of bulls. They not only range high in weaning weight and yearling weight, but they have a quality of look that is remarkable. This will be the only offering of bulls out of 2044. He passed away this spring in a bullfight. So, if you like these bulls as much as we do, you better bid high. We do not have as many HB Tahoe 2065 sons because we had many heifers, but they are really a fantastic set. I would definitely come to see their sister mates, because we do not know if we will sell any of them. The bred heifer side is as deep with quality and performance as we have ever had. They are a very consistent set of Breds and that is what we have been breeding for. We are extremely proud of the set of cattle we are selling and are truly blessed to be offering this lineup.
On a feedback note, we would like to congratulate Wilson & Good from Kansas on the Reserve Grand Champion Bull at the Illinois State Fair open show. He was also Champion Land of Lincoln as well. It is always good to hear good feedback and to know that the cattle are doing a wonderful job for you. New this year, some of the breds are serviced by a bull we bought in the Musgrave sale last spring. He is a Feat son that goes back to one of their donor cows. He is a nice balanced bull that has a little different pedigree for us.
Lastly, we would like to thank everyone who has bought cattle over the years. We do appreciate your loyal support. You are always welcome to stop by anytime. There is always one of us around to show you the cattle. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to give us a call. We hope to see you on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.
BOB, JIM & CHAD
HB Growth Fund 2044 has done the best job siring calves than any bull we have used in years. HB Growth Fund 2044 was sold in our 2023 to Jesse Kohl. I told everyone that day when we sold this bull, I was going to use him hard in our herd and I did. 2044 has flat outperformed himself compared to all the other stud bulls we used. This will be the only offering of these ever. HB 2044 died this past spring at Jesse’s and there is hardly any semen available. So, if you want one of these great sons, you better bid high, because this is the one and only chance you will get.

This Growth Fund son is an incredible individual. Talk about a massive, high performing heifer bull that is long bodied, sound structured and has the numbers to go with it. This 77-pound birth weight bull will make your heifer’s calves look amazing. I am going to use this bull heavily on our heifers this spring, especially on our Expectation daughters. He ranks in the 20% and better for CED, WW, YW, and CEM. This bull’s mother is a nice balanced, moderate-frame female that has had 3 calves in a 362-day interval. Also, his grandmother will be 13 this year and looks outstanding. If you are wanting some solid foundation females, then you need this bull on your team.

This bred heifer is an absolute powerhouse. Look at the mass, body shape and overall center dimension she carries. This will be an easy keeping female for years to come. These 7017 daughters have made tremendous cows for us.

Here is one eye-catching bred heifer. Not only does she tie high out of the top of her shoulder, but she is level down her top and square from hooks to pins. The bred also is really uniform in her body depth.
