Erich MAECHLER, svizzero di Hochdorf, classe ’60, generoso e grintoso in appoggio ai suoi capitani, ha saputo comunque cogliere successi importanti e fra questi una spettacolare MilanoSanremo’87. L’ha vinta animando una fuga da lontano iniziata addirittura ad Ovada da un gruppetto di attaccanti che poi Maechler ha eliminato uno alla volta sino al traguardo. La stagione precedente sempre in maglia Carrera aveva vinto una prestigiosa tappa al Tour de France sul mitico Puy de Dome.
Erich MAECHLER, from Hochdorf, Switzerland, was born in 1960. Generous and pushy supporting his captains, he was able to get important successes: one of these was the Milano-Sanremo in 1987. He won it animating a breakaway from Ovada with a little group that then Maechler won one by one before the finishing line. The year before, still in Carrera jersey, won a glorious stage at Tour of France on the legendary Puy de Dome.
