Adventure Walks
Something new & e x c i t i n g h a s been added t o t h e C a r n e g i e s c e n e . Marty Hunter & Bob S a r t i have o r g a n i z e d n a t u r e walks t h r o u g h o u t t h e Lower Mainland d u r i n g J u l y & August. Come & l e a r n t h e h i s t o r y of o u r l o c a l a r e a s a s w e l l a s having fun. Bob is t h e commentator w h i l e Marty packs n u t r i t i o u s & t a s t y l u n c h e s . Whenever f i g h t i n g t h e b u r e a u c r a t s becomes t o o much f o r me I t h i n k of a l l t h e wonderful n a t u r e walks I ' v e had t h e good f o r t u n e t o b e p a r t o f . On J u l y 8 we d i s c o v e r e d a w e a l t h of h i s t o r y o u t on t h e Musqueam Lands, We walked a l o n g a p a t h by t h e F r a s e r R i v e r . Bob showed u s where t h e r e was an o l d J a p a n e s e f i s h i n g v i l l a g e which was c o n f i s c a t e d by t h e government d u r i n g World War 11. We wandered along. t h e t r a i l s where t h e r e were many t r e e s & a v a r i e t y of w i l d f l o w e r s . T h e r e a r e salmon i n Musqueam Creek b u t t h e c h l o r i n e from t h e s u b - d i v i s i o n above i s k i l l i n g some of them o u t . T h i s h a z a r d t o nat u r e comes from swimming p o o l s . The S o u t h l a n d s e x p e d i t i o n w a s v e r y i n t e r e s t i n g a s a g r e a t number of h o r s e s a r e k e p t on t h e s m a l l f a r m s . We c e r t a i n l y d e v e l o p e r s d o n ' t d e s t roy tpis a r e a t o o . It was wonderful t o h e a r t h e sweet s i n g i n g of b i r d s i n s t e a d o f t h e r o a r of t r a f f i c .
