Lois Johnson

1955 - 2019

Gregg Martin Fischer passed away at the age of 64 peacefully in the Moose Mountain Lodge at Carlyle Saskatchewan on Sunday, October 20, 2019 with his pet Snickers by his side.

Gregg is remembered by his wife, Deborah; children, Calvin (Karen) Fischer & Sonia Wilson (Aaron Hutton); grandchildren, Christine (Garett) Robertson, Katie & Erica Wilson, Jace, Kyla & Jaden Fischer; great-grandchildren, Melody & Myles Robertson; his father; Ralph (Fran) Fischer; brothers, Laurie & Mark Fischer; sisters, Starr (Dale) Bachert, Joy (Doug) Elliott, Gaye (Ron) Webber; daughter-in-law, Jenn Fischer; son-in-law, Jeremy Wilson; mother-in-law, Shirley McNair; sister-in-law Colleen Lowes; many other relatives. Predeceased by his son, Courtney; mother, Joyce Fischer; father-inlaw, James McNair.

Brothers-in-laws Richard (Sherry) McNair, John David(Cara) McNair; Sister-in-law’s Barbara (Everett) Smart, Heather McNair, Mary McNair and many other relatives.

1931 - 2019

Lois Johnson (nee Luedtke) passed away at Long Lake Valley Integrated Facility in Imperial, SK on Tuesday, May 22, 2019 at the age of 88. She was born at Wordsworth, SK. Lois was predeceased by her parents Frederick and Martha Luedtke; her siblings Eleanor, Gladys, Irma, Edwin, Clarence, and Avion; and by her husband Wendell Johnson. She is survived by her nieces and nephews. Lois was very musical and loved to sing and play guitar, organ, and her ukelin.

She had many happy memories of her time spent at the Regina Renaissance Retirement Residence and made many friends there. Her last year was spent in the care of the wonderful staff at the care home in Imperial. Lois entertained the staff and residents with her huge smile, jokes, and musical talent. Roy Bortolotto attended continuing education at Ancient Spirals (near Saskatoon) recently.

On Oct. 18 the Wawota Southeast Library presented a movie, “Prairie Women”, a history of farm women and co-operative action during 1913-1939. This was viewed at the Wawota High School Library.

On Oct. 21 five members of the library’s book club met at the Village Inn to discuss the latest book. The book was “Universal Traveller” by John Darnielle.

I didn’t attend but after reading it wondered about where the author was coming from so read his first book, “Wolf in White Van”. I think his ideas for stories are good but had some trouble following

the story.

Three lives from our community were celebrated this past week: On Oct. 26 a reception was held at the Wawota Town Hall to remember John Husband. John passed away on Oct. 22 at the Southeast Integrated Health Centre in Moosomin. He was 77 years old. He leaves wife, Carol, son Jason and daughter Karen and their families and a sister, Barb Haddow of Kenosee Lake. John was a well respected of our community for many years.

On Oct. 29 a funeral service was held at the Wawota United Church for Ken Lincoln. He passed away at Deer View Lodge Oct. 20. He was 87 years old.

He was predeceased by his wife, Vivian and is

survived by his daughter, Shelly Easton and son, Shane Lincoln and their families. Interment was in the Wawota Cemetery. Gone Fishing.

And on Oct. 30 a funeral service was held from the Wawota United Church for Morris (Moe) Corkish. He passed away at Deer View Lodge on Oct. 24 at the age of 77 years. He was predeceased by daughter, Shelley and is survived by wife, Saundra and son, Pat and his family.

Moe was born and raised in Wawota and gathered many friends along his journey. To me he was a schoolmate in earlier years and for the last 40 years a neighbour across the street. He will be missed.

Stephen and Missy Myers welcomed a daughter, Winnie Lee. She weighed 5 lbs. 15 oz.

Glen Ewen Mixed 4-H reorganizational meeting Submitted by Amanda Nordin On September 29, 2019, Glen Ewen Mixed 4-H held their Re-organizational Meeting.

The meeting opened with Myrna’s Time.

EXECUTIVE: The Executive for 2019-2020 are: President – Jill Bayliss Vice-President – Mariah Warriner Secretary - McKenzie Lovell Treasurer – Elijah Bartlett Reporter – Amanda Nordin General Leader – Myrna-Jean Babbings Assistant General Leader – Pamela Bartlett District Rep’s: - Adults – Pamela Bartlett and Myrna Babbings Member Rep’s – Elijah Bartlett and Dereck Nordin PLEDGE: The meeting then opened with Vice-President Mariah Warriner, and the new Pledge was recited.

4-H MEMBERS:

4-H returning members for 2019/2020 are: Mariah Warriner, Amanda Nordin, Dereck Nordin, Elijah Bartlett, Jill Bayliss, McKenzie Lovell and Nakita Bayliss.

Introduction of new members – Abigail Bartlett and Serena Bayliss.

DISCUSSION ARISING FROM THE MINUTES: Eli Bartlett spoke about the Achievement Day for Glen Ewen Mixed 4-H, which was held on June 24th, 2019.

McKenzie Lovell spoke about our year-end wind-up on July 18th, 2019.

NEW BUSINESS: November is National 4-H month, and the 4-H Goal is to support the local food bank since the theme is 4-H, Food and You! The Club talked about having a food drive for our area.

The District Meeting will be held in Alameda.

Club members will attend the Expressway Family Centre classes on

Cupcake Making, Cooking Class and Pottery Painting Class. The Club would like to attend a Bruins game in Estevan.

Our Club will make tied blankets to donate for the Expressway Tree Auction.
