Pro-Energy Rally in Moosomin Submitted Congratulations to the community of Moosomin for organizing a successful and well attended Pro Energy Rally on Saturday, Feb. 16, at the recently opened IJACK Technologies assembly plant and office just north of town. Bill Thorn one of the 10 organizing committee members from the Moosomin Economic Development authority advised “ There is a silent majority that is not being heard while a number of special interest groups are getting the ears of our leaders. A couple members of our group had attended a rally in Regina organized by CANADAACTION.CA, a non-profit group, and we engaged with them to help us get this organized here.” Bill indicated that we need to and wanted to show the public that our oil and gas industry is a very important part of our economy and this resource needs to be handled very carefully. Our environmental practices are top notch and transporting this resource via pipelines is as prudent or more, than by rail or tankers in the east.

There was an impressisve list of delegates addressing the crowd including Conservative leader Andrew Sheer, Premier Scott Moe, Premier of New Brunswick, Blaine Higgs, Manitoba MLA Larry McGuire, Federal Senator Denise Batters, Leaders from SARM & SUMA, Larry Tomlinson, Mayor of Moosomin. An unplanned speaker was added to the address - Barry Lowes, Reeve of Ellis Archie RM near St. Lazarre reported that early Saturday morning he was called and advised that there had been a train derailment just outside of St. Lazarre with oil tankers that came off the tracks uphill of the Assiniboine River. He advised that all precautions were being taken to contain and remediate any spill that may be happening. An unfortunate coincidence for sure which highlights how much more prudent it is to transport the very valuable and needed resource by pipeline.

Steve Henry, VP of Sales of IJACK Technologies was on hand to comment that his company was pleased to host this event in their newly opened 20,000 sq. ft. facility where their patent oil pumping technology equipment is being assembled, quality tested and distributed. Steve commented “in terms of IJACK and other oil field supply and manufacturing companies, this industry is vital to the lifeblood of our local communities and all of Saskatchewan.

It’s important that we send a message to our government to get the pipelines infrastructure going again so we can move forward to create opportunity not only for our own communities but nation wide.”

Steve was happy with the turn out and estimated there must have been close to 1,000 which is great for a cold Saturday on a Holiday weekend.

Ray Boutin of Performance Realty in Carlyle and his brother Bernie attended the event in support of the effort. Ray advised that “I am compelled to attend these initiatives by our local communities in an effort to get our voice out there. My dad worked in this industry since the mid 50’s and my brothers did for numerous years as well. The lack of action we are getting from the federal government is not only disappointing it’s disrespectful to our communities that work hard and long hours to provide for their families and make our communities prosper. WE NEED TO BE HEARD and I’m pleased to see that Saskatchewanites are not sitting on their hands and taking this lying down. The rally in Estevan late last year was a testament to how much we need this resource managed properly and this rally in Moosomin and the convoy that is heading to Ottawa this weekend is encouraging to see, showing that people are standing up to the lack of attention and inaction from our federal government. I’ve got the Tee Shirt and I will be wearing it and talking about this any chance I get. I’m glad I came and applaud the efforts of people like Bill Thorn who are organizing to be heard.”

Meili’s push for clean donations should begin at home

By Murray Mandryk New Democratic Opposition leader is dead on: It’s high time Saskatchewan cleaned up the rules allowing unlimited donations from businesses and unions.

But there are a couple of big problems with the way Meili is making his case.

First, it’s never been just a Saskatchewan Party problem. It’s a long-standing political systemic problem that his NDP predecessors could have and should when they were in government.

Second, if change is to happen, Meili and the NDP should stick to their knitting and focus on big problems right here in Saskatchewan. That the NDP seem more interesting in trying make this issue about far-away big international companies like SNC-Lavalin rather than businesses and unions right here in Saskatchewan is suspicious.

That said, Meili likely has bipartisan support for what he is generally proposing. Having witnessed for decades, the problems with those with the bucks controlling political parties, there is a sense that people are a more than little fed up.

It’s high time we saw change. The problem right now is business influence on the Sask. Party, but that doesn’t mean that this has always been the only problem.

Past NDP governments than eagerly to passed laws and policies like the Crown Construction Tendering Agreement in which private, non-unionized construction companies had to pay union-scale wages to bid on government contracts. There was also the most-available hours policy in which private companies were forced to give available hours to the most senior part-time worker, whether that worker was the best choice or the person most suited for the task.

All this was done at a time when union donations to the NDP were rampant.

Yet certain developers and businessmen looking for government money or support could also be found parked in NDP ministers’ offices.

Of course, Meili argues things will be different if he is premier and, to his credit, did not take union or corporate donations during his successful NDP leadership bid.

That said, it’s more than a little curious that he would go after SCN-Lavalin (who doesn’t donate much here and has donated to all parties) and not local businesses.

Last week, Meili took a run at the giant Quebec engineering company SNC-Lavalin that, admittedly, has a very bad reputation for exercising undue political influence on the national and international scene.

It is alleged that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s office tried to apply undue pressure on former federal justice minister Jody Wilson-Raybould to help SNC-Lavalin avoid federal criminal prosecution on fraud and bribery charges. The company has a sordid history of political involvement, including admitting in 2016 that it violated the Elections Canada Act by providing tens of thousands of dollars in illegal campaign donations to the Liberals.

But while this is horrific, it should also be noted that SNC-Lavalin is a gigantic international engineering company with businesses dealings in every province including here in Saskatchewan where it has a $700-million carbon capture and storage contract near Estevan and the management of the new Saskatchewan Hospital at North Battleford.

To this, Meili wants a review of all SNC-Lavalin contracts in Saskatchewan, even though none of them have anything to with the goings-on in Ottawa.

Why? Because the giant company plops down a $1,000 for a table at the annual premiers’ dinner like other most other Saskatchewan businesses do for the thinly veiled political fundraiser.

Strangely, we aren’t seeing Meili hold similar press conferences about local companies like Brandt Developments, a big-time donor to the Sask. Party, receiving special consideration like being allowto building its new headquarters building in Regina’s Wascana Park.

If we are concerned about political influence, surely Meili needs to recognize it begins right here at home.

Escaping the endangered

Salut, numele meu este Shelley.

As I write this--it is the end of January. As you read this, it is the third week of February and the above words are likely playing a significant role in my life right now. Translated they say, ‘Hello, my name is Shelley’, in Romanian. I am going to Romania— Shelley Luedtke well, actually I am there now.

I tried to learn a few Romanian phrases prior to departure, just like I did 20 years ago when my husband and I travelled to the country to complete the adoptions of two totally amazing daughters. They are now grown, spreading their wings, and undertaking dreams and adventures perfectly suited to the people they have become.

They came into our lives after living in orphanages, so when we brought them home they needed to adapt to a totally new life, new foods, new home and the concept of family. All of this had to be done in a language that was new to them.

For the last 20 years February 21 has been observed as International Mother Language Day, an event promoting the preservation and protection of all languages used by people of the world.

It is estimated that 43% of the 6000+ languages spoken in the world are endangered. “When languages fade,” the United Nations declared, “so does the world’s rich tapestry of cultural diversity.” Traditions, memory, unique modes of thinking and expression are lost. The losses are huge considering every two weeks a language disappears. That rate of extinction is surpassing plants, birds and mammals.

Languages are the systems we acquire enabling us to communicate with those who share the same system. A baby’s first words are celebrated. Loss of ability to speak is mourned. If vocalization isn’t possible we try and create other ways to communicate.

It seems like any time I get laryngitis I have incredibly important things to say. Of course my thoughts aren’t any more profound in those mo-

ments than at any other time, but an inability to say what I need to reminds me how much I value being able to communicate.

As languages and dialects disappear (35 in Canada are critically endangered) it makes me admire even more those who are able to speak multiple languages, but also heartbroken for those who speak a language few others understand. Imagine the isolation if only a handful of others speak your mother tongue.

For the last 20 years our girls have spoken English. They don’t speak Romanian because there was no one to communicate with them. It is unfortunate they don’t still have their first language because it would have been something they shared with 26 million people around the world. Their mother tongue is not endangered but it was certainly a loss for them.

My first--and only—language is English, spoken by 500 million native speakers and used regularly by more than 2 billion people. It’s not endangered, but it does need to be protected. Protected from being used as a weapon. Protected from abuse. Protected from laziness of turn of phrase. Protected from being reduced to patterns of profanity. Protected from indifference at its power.

Working through lists of words and phrases before going to Romania I was struck by something.

They didn’t contain suggested curse words, insults or ways of telling people off. Of course if one goes looking you can find those, but on these lists were words of greeting, courtesy, and manners. Words that will help us move amongst people with civility.

Terms that engender politeness and respect. If that is the goal when introducing us to other languages, shouldn’t it be the same with the one we currently speak?

Protecting language isn’t just about the number of fluent speakers it currently has. It also requires a vigilant look at who is speaking, who is being spoken to, and what words are being used. When we lose language we are indeed losing traditions, memory and unique modes of thinking and expression. When we abuse language we are undermining our ability to communicate properly. We don’t want to look back and wonder how it became critically endangered.

That’s my outlook.

Procrastination is definitely the enemy of productivity -- but sometimes putting things off can be beneficial. When you arrive at work, stay away from those time-consuming emails for a few hours and take the time prioritize your tasks (see below).

Make a to-do list and prioritize it A to-do list will organize your workload and make it much more manageable. Instead of wondering how you’re going to get everything done, decide what needs to be done and use your limited work time on what’s really important. Even better: create your list a day in

advance and you’ll be much more relaxed at home – and a good work/home life balance is as important to your productivity as it is to your life away from work.

Minimize distractions Think Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, YouTube – and then forget them while you’re working.

These days, there are hundreds of potential digital distractions to dodge. You can do that by changing your environment, perhaps working from home. When you work uninterrupted, you’ll be much less likely to dawdle (that’s procrastinate by another name) and you’ll get much more done.

Being your best (and happiest) productive self takes self-control and having specific, achievable goals – and that is true of every aspect of your life.

Sciatic pain during pregnancy: what it is and how to treat it It’s no secret that pregnancy can be hard on a woman’s back. Indeed, between 50 and 80 per cent of women experience lower back pain during pregnancy. Oftentimes it’s a particular kind of pain called sciatic pain, or sciatica, for which there are treatment options such as physiotherapy.

What is sciatica?

Sciatica is pain radiating along the sciatic nerve, which is the longest nerve in the body, beginning at the lower back, extending down to the buttocks then branching out down the legs and to the feet. Sciatic pain usually begins in the lower back and spreads downward. It manifests itself in different ways: numbness and tingling or else a sharp, shooting pain.

Why does sciatica occur during pregnancy?

Sciatica typically is experienced in the third trimester; at this stage, the weight of the growing baby and uterus can put direct pressure on the sciatic nerve.

How is sciatica during pregnancy treated?

A physical therapist can help alleviate sciatic pain without recourse to medication. The treatment typically involves a combination of some or all of the following elements: • Specific stretches and exercises focused on decreasing pain, managing inflammation and restoring

mobility and strength • Bracing or taping • Massages Along with developing an exercise routine to do at home, physical therapists provide tips for dealing with sciatic pain from day to day.

Estevan Police Service caught an individual breaking into a coin machine in a Laundromat. This individual was identified through video from a store in Estevan as using a stolen bank card from a Break and Enter from our area. He denies doing the Break and Enter, however, did say a friend gave him the bank card.....to which we replied “Nice Friend”.

I don’t think he is being honest with himself, let alone the Police . . . we get lied to a lot, like a lot. This individual had to come to Court in Carlyle and was eating DQ for several days before being brought to the Remand Centre.

He remains in custody.

This individual admitted to having a drug and alcohol addiction, but has not admitted that he needs better friends.

So you lend your vehicle to a “friend” and your “friend” does not bring it back and you call the Police and you just want your vehicle back.

Your friend happened to hit the ditch and is already being dealt with by the Police. So you have a tow bill now, and maybe, just maybe, you need different friends.

We had a historical assault reported to us.

Members responded to a possible impaired driver south of Redvers.

Patrols were made and the information was passed on to Carnduff Detachment, however, the vehicle was not located.

Four by Four Vehicles are not the end all to be all. We generally recommend you don’t go in 4X4 where you can’t go in 2 wheel drive. An individual went and got stuck in his 4X4 and that individual “called a friend” who then got stuck in his 4X4. They then called the Police.

Now if a snowmobile can go there . . . maybe a truck should not go there. Being the vehicles were in the Park we garnered the assistance of our brethren in Conservation. Simply put, stay of the snowmobile trails.

A fine of $150 for a first offence is a viable option.

Members responded to a call of an intoxicated individual causing problems at a residence.

Upon arrival this individual was found to be sleeping . . . or passed out, 1/2 dozen of one 6 of the other. All was good and he was left to recover at home.

An intoxicated individual was entering business’s and walking on the highway in the bitter cold. This individual was arrested, brought to cells, had a medical episode, brought to Hospital by EMS and then left in care of the Hospital.

for $759 in bitcoins, and if you don’t know what a bitcoin is they directed the individual to google it.

Another frequent fraud is the Canada Revenue Fraud. Trust me when I say I have yet to arrest someone for not paying their taxes. Those colleagues of mine that have been involved in such files don’t provide warning and the manner in which to avoid arrest is not payment in itune cards.

I know by the time you have read this Valentines Day will have passed, that does not mean there is no longer romance in the air.

Many people have found their significant other on line, and others have thought they had, only to find out the “Love of their life” needs a loan or they threaten to post intimate pictures if money is not sent - be very careful as to what you put on line, what info you give, and never send money.

It is Fraud. We know we all want “Love” but we need to be able to afford it.

We had a shoplifter, which we often do, however, this time the business had enough and desired charges. Patrols were made and an individual with an unenviable record was arrested and charged and brought to court. Sunny D and vanilla was recovered. Not a combination I would be willing to try.

We had an individual on conditions of no alcohol reported as being intoxicated. A patrol was made and the individual was not intoxicated, rather they were dealing with side affects of their prescribed medication.

We hope this individual is successful with their recovery. We truly do, our goal is Crime Prevention.

Our Traffic Members stopped a slow driving vehicle near Redvers

and samples of 210/190 mg% were obtained from the driver who spent the night in the “Crow Bar Hotel” (We don’t have bars anymore), the vehicle was seized for 60 days and licence was suspended immediately.

You know you might have an addiction problem when your children find the need to call the RCMP to remove you from your residence.

Fortunately another child was able to put the parent to bed and all was resolved.

We had a call of a stranded motorist who had less than an 1/8th of tank of gas. They were provided a ride to the hospital to get checked out being it was so, so, cold. Not that they wanted to go but we gave them a ride. Now the reason they were on the back roads was they did not want to get caught driving without insurance.

Members dealt with several individuals who managed to drive into the ditch. We use discretion in such cases, however, if we suspect alcohol, or if one fails to report the collision, or chooses to tell us to go where the sun don’t shine, we may choose to issue a ticket.

Tickets were issued for fail to stop at stop sign $230, careless driving $280, liquor in a vehicle $360, no insurance $580, window tint $115, operate unregistered snowmobile $100 and most expensive speeding ticket was for $224 Warnings were issued for obstructed windshield, operate a motor vehicle without a valid licence, inadequate brake lights, fail to produce drivers licence, fail to dim high beams, fail to stop at stop sign and speeding, and insecure load.

Inspection tickets were issued for inadequate tail light, and window tint.

Carlyle Oilmen’s Bonspiel winners

The Carlyle Oilmen’s Bonspiel was held the weekend of Feb. 15. A side winner was Team Yunick (L-R) Brenden Gaudet, Ryan Hrycenko, Jeremy Hrycenko and Jason Yunick.

Gordon F. Kells High School Badminton Junior badminton practices are Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30 – 5:00. Senior badminton has also begun.

There is no school from February 18-22 due to the Mid-winter Break. Classes resume Monday, February 25.

The SLT is busy getting ready for a noon hockey mini-sticks competition after the February Break.

Leonard and Lil Patton attended the Saskatchewan Men’s Tankard that was held in Whitewood, SK on Feb. 9. They enjoyed watching the great curling among the teams, especially when it came to the finals against Team Muyers and Team Dunstone.

This was an extremely close game, being tied coming home – Team Muyers won the Tankard and will be representing Saskatchewan at the Men’s Brier in Brandon next month (March 3-10). Go Saskatchewan Go. Congratulations to Cory and Sara Purves on the arrival of their baby boy, Andrew Kyle, who was born Feb. 11.

The Alida Curling Club continues to take names for the Alida Ladies Bonspiel this coming weekend. They now have three teams entered and are of

course hoping for more entries. Don’t forget ladies, your team should be dressed in a costume theme.

The events are being finalizing to serve a delicious chicken supper on the Saturday to everyone who attends which of course includes the curlers, a “paper bag” ticket draws will be on display. Come on out, see all the action and join in the fun. See you at the rink.

The Alida Rec. Board has begun to make plans for their Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre. If more information is needed contact Shanna Carriere (306443-2219/ 306-485-8647). Also keep your eyes and ears open for posters etc. Just know that it will most certainly be a very interesting evening out. Hope to see you there.

Once again it’s an early deadline (Thursday, Feb.14) this is for the Feb. 22 issue – this is because

of the long weekend, which was Monday, Feb. 18 as Family Day. We are then back to the original deadline of Monday, February 25 (I like to receive news on Sunday so that I’m able to get it all typed up and ready to send on Monday morning).

Several interested curling fans attended the Saks Tel Tankard Men’s Curling Championships at Whitewood. This was a five-day event from Feb. 6 to 10. It was nice to have it in a community close to home.

Brent and Connie Pryce have returned home after enjoying several days holidaying in Las Vegas.

Congratulations to Angie Werner-Paterson on the grand opening of her “Hidden Gems” on Main Street. Stop in and check out her hidden gems - coffee and lattes, cards and crystals, toys and games, knitted wear and mugs. Angie’s mom Joan Werner has her business, “Nailed It” in the same building.

The first meeting of the Time and Talent committee met last week at the United Church with 4 in attendance.

Plans were made to hold a Time and Talent again

this year. with a bit of a different format. There will be a beef supper with several silent auction items and entertainment. There will also be an on- line auction.

Roy Bortolotto was away to Saskatoon last week for continuing education.

Sympathy to the family of Walter (Bud) Pleckham who passed away in Weyburn on Feb. 13. He would have been 94 on March 2nd and was one of this area’s last surviving WWII veterans. He was predeceased by his wife, Thelma (Husband) and is survived by his wife, Mary(McPherson), daughters, Sharon, Joan and Kay and their families. Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Xavier Roman Catholic Church at Wawota on Feb.22.

The Crossroads Pastoral Charge held its annual meeting last Sunday at Wawota. The Wawota congregation and the congregation from Maryfield

joined to review last years happenings and finances and plan for the upcoming year. A pot luck meal was enjoyed.

Did you know that February was designed as National Random Acts of Kindness Day? Some acts of kindness came to mind...the Band aid Group that put on a concert to help those suffering in the Ethiopian famine, a professional hockey player (forgotten his name) who build a house for a needy family in those cities he played in, after Superstorm Sandy, a business man handed out $100 bills ($100,000) to those who had lost everything and just recently, Sting gave a free concert in support of the GM workers in Oshawa, ON. Maybe these don’t qualify as I understand that acts of random kindness are to be kept secret! I have participated in some of these acts over the years that I would like to share with you but can’t as then they wouldn’t qualify as random acts of kindness.

Cougars’ playoff run continues

Nicole Currie Sports Contributor Feb. 12 was an exciting night, as it was game 1, of the best of 5 series against the Bienfait Coalers.

These two teams are fairly evenly matched and so we all know, that these will be some great games to watch.

This game proved to be a battle of the goalies, as they both had a lot of shots and came up with some huge saves.

The game started with a big save from Audet, followed by Walliser making a huge save on Turgeon’s nice shot. Turgeon later picks up on Fox’s rebound and scores! Cougars are on the board! A back-handed pass from Geiger, is what Fox needed to score the second goal of the game. Bienfait’s Kress, scores before the period ends to make it a 2-1 game.

The second period seemed pretty quiet, as there were no goals scored and not one penalty. Both teams tried their best to get one and the goalies denied them. Shots at the end of this period were Carlyle 25 and Bienfait 21.

The third proved to be full of action as Billy Greenwood is awarded with a Penalty shot. Greenwood snipes and the crowd erupted. 3-1 Cougars.

The excitement was short-lived as Bienfait’s Dylan Herzberg scored 2 goals and tied the game up and we’re off to overtime - two periods of overtime.

The first 10 minute sudden-death period, was not long enough for either team to end the game.

Audet made some stellar saves and the boys worked hard in front of him, wanting that OT goal! After a flood and a breather for the boys, they were back out for a 20 minute sudden-death period. Audet denied Bienfait’s wrap-around attempt to win. These OT periods seemed to have more penalties called than what you usually see. Nonetheless, Bienfait scored the winner with 10 seconds left in their power play.

Bienfait gets game 1. Shots this game were: Carlyle 36 and Bienfait 49.

Editors note: Game 2 was played Feb. 15 in Bienfait and resulted in a 9-5 loss for the Cougars.

Game 3 was played Feb. 19 with the Cougars getting the 5-2 victory.

The PureChem Cougars hosted the Bienfait Coalers on Feb. 12 for game 1 of playoffs. It was a close match, going into two periods of overtime. The Coalers came out victorious by a score of 4-3.

The meeting opened with Myrna introducing Susan Fitch Reed who was invited to listen to the members present their speeches and to give them some thoughts on Public Speaking, Speeches were then given: Mariah Warriner – My Encounter with Encounters with Canada Jill Bayliss – My Fiddle and Me McKenzie Lovell – Home School Versus Public School Eli Bartlett – My Favorite App, Part 2 Layne Myers – Scary, Scary World Rayah Lovell - Lily Mariah Warriner – the President, opened the meeting and led with the PledgE. Roll Call was led by McKenzie Warriner.

Submitted by Janet Mark Angela Penner, Secretary of the Villa, chaired the Annual Meeting of the Tenants Association. The two most popular nominees were not willing to stand for office. Ralph Burke consented to be nominated for Vice Chairman.

Janet Mark will remain as Chair and Reporter.

Charlotte Kovach entertained the members of the Haven Bible Study for dinner to celebrate Pastor Roy Boertolotto’s birthday. On the 9th Gladys Bishop celebrated her birthday, with Audrey McEwan and other members of her family. Sherri Toms visited Grace and Wendy and Jennifer Greenbank were with Grandma. Heidi and Kasper visited Ruth Holstrom.

Sinclair Choir, 20 members of the congregation, came Sunday afternoon, after giving a concert at Redvers Health Centre. They sang without accompaniment. The Neufeld and Ens families, from the German Mennonite church, Maryfield, led a worship service on the 5th.

Circle of Friends this week talked about Winter Activities. Fred remembers building a snow tunnel and having a party in it; Mariann, skating on the slough.

Gladys said the snow was up to the telephone wires, and she walked over them to town. Ruth Dennis fell when skating at the rink and had a black eye for New Year’s.

Ralph Mills skated, caught fish through the ice, and tried chasing coyotes on horseback.

Ralph Burke’s highlight was the Christmas Concert, as well as curling and hockey. Grace Toms, with 4 sons in hockey, spent most of her winters at the rink.

Aileen built a snow igloo with a stove. Mary Thiessen and her sisters tried to build one, but had trouble getting the entrance right. Her favorite sport now is cross-country skiing on trails around the farm.

Leora went ski-dooing and spent winters in Arizona.

Janet Mark’s happiest winters were the 30 she spent accompanying singers and bank students at Redvers Music Festival. Many of her 40 Festival Joys are now passing on their musical heritage to their children. Charlotte Kovach brought a movie, and

popcorn. The Villa Guild served for Ted Stremel’s birthday. Cheryl and Harold Friesen came to dinner with Leora, and played Ralph’s favorite hymns.

Circle of Friends told about our favorite music. Ralph Mills and many of us favored Old Fashioned and dance music. Mary Thiessen was a lifelong fan of Wilf Carter, and brought her record collection. The highlight of her teen years was a concert, where each of the five children got his autograph. Mariann still enjoys going to concerts.

Janet timed her winter visits to her daughter with whatever opera was on. Leora and Gladys Bishop favored country Gospel. Fred’s favorite instrument is still his mouth organ. He spoke of one used at Ukrainian weddings. It was played with hammers like a xylophone, carried on the player’s shoulders.

Mary, on her I-Phone showed us another old instrument, a hammer dulcimer being played in a similar manner.

February 12, 2019 Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on February 12, 2019 in Regina, at the age of 70. He is survived by his wife Louise, son Cameron (Dawn), daughter Anne-Marie (Darren), grandchildren Zoe, Cade, Noah and Spencer; brothers Jack (Shirley), Rick (Wendy), Robert (Marija); sisters Joanne and Shirley (Mark).

Thank you to the medical staff at the Pasqua Hospital and to friend Jack Wilson for their care and support.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

He has gone farming.

The Calendars are available for pick-up at Arcola Agencies in Arcola and the Kisbey Post Office in Kisbey. Huge thanks to Elaine and Patty!

The Club held the club speeches on Feb. 10.

Everyone did a great job. There were a couple of first time speakers and they did really well.

There was even a surprise speech by future 4-H member Hannah Lees, age 5. Good Job Hannah.

Cloverbud: 1st place Jackson Lees Junior: 1st place Becca Lees; 2nd place Kirsten East Intermediate: 1st place Emma Lees; 2nd place Tyra Newell.

Senior: 1st place Ethan Newell; 2nd place Kylee Dixon.

These winners will be going on to the District Speeches on Feb. 24 in Trossachs at the community hall. We wish them all good luck and hope they all get to move on to the regionals.
