Archaeological survey
I worked as an intern at the Archaeological Park of theColosseum. As an architect, I assisted in th re-constructive interpretation of the Domus Flavia, a Roman Palace located in the Palatine Hill.
Archaeologists guided us on how to read and map Roman constructive methods, looking at the stratigraphyto understand the formation process of the ancient building.
We digitally map the whole area using photogrammetryand Leica’’s GPS antenna, Total Station and Laser Scanner devices. The information is then put together in the laboratories, resulting in anaccurate, intricate 3D model that allows for dynamicvisualization: sections, isometrics, floor-plans.
Finally, the digital model is used along the stratigraphic maps to create interpretative reconstruction models. Using remains and literary references to deduce the shape and functions of the building and its relationship to th landscape.
This, in a latter architectural intervention, is crucial to highlight the cultural significance of a monument and create a deeper relationshipwith its context.

Stratigraphic Survey
Architects surveying the ancient walls, outlining the relevant architectural elements and their chronological relationships.
Aula Regia
The throne room of the Domus Flavia.
The material presented here is the condensation of three survey methodologies: photogrammetry, 3D point cloud and total station and GPS mapping. The detailed and accurate digitalmodel allows us to measure and examine the construction methods used during the Roman Empire.
With archaeologists, we outline the stratigraphic units of each wall to determine the temporal construction scheme of the palace.
Stratigraphic Outline.
Outline drawn upon the measured 3d Model. It identifies the different stages and elements that compose the ancient wall. Any sign of change in time is mapped, including: earthquake damage, restoration signs, structural elements and decorative elements.

The archaeological site of Ker ameikos presents a series ofcharacteristics that are interest ing from both an urban as well as an archaeological perspec tive. Today the site is surround ed by important road networks and diverse neighborhoods, resulting in a pluralistic context that must negotiate differentconditions. The current border condition of the site compli cates the organic incorporation of the tangible heritage into the contemporary urban fabric.
By recognizing these challeng es, the project Extra Muros re sponds at the issues of integra tion of the archaeological site into its urban context througha series of interventions at specific areas both inside thesite and at its borders. The im provement of the permeabilityof the site’s borders and the in corporation of wellconsidered, public areas enrich the urban significance of Kerameikos while enhancing its interpre tational accessibility. Targetedinterventions that aim at the legibility of the archaeologicalremains are used to attract the public and thus strengthen the role of heritage in contempo rary urban settings. In this way, Kerameikos acquires a new identity, moves closer to the public and reaches beyond itsborders.

Roads and walls extend towards the modern urban tissue, the project uses this to create meaningful conjunction points for the community to meet its heritage.
An urban open plaza is created in the intersection of two major roads: Piraeus and Ermou Street.
The architecture embraces the plaza while connecting to the Archaeological Park.

Due to the lack of hospitals in Tenejapa, self-organized Tzeltal (Mayan) midwives use theirown homes as childbirth clin ics, which causes various com plications within their families. María Intzin Girón, besides being a volunteer midwife, gives medical consultation and talks to the Tzeltal community about family planning, such activities were key in the design process.
The project we propose is placed as a canvas that allows the community, through local artists and architects, to project what appeals to their needs and identity. The house-clinicwas built, with the aid of volun teers, in 2018 and published in websites such as ArchDaily.

Project developed for the“Maritime Museum of Brasil” competition. The premises ask competitors to replace the old warehouses found atop the old pier and propose a museum for the military and maritime history of Brasil
The recognition of the landscape and stereotomic character of the pier guides the project in the sense of electing this urban element asthe museum itself. It should not be seen as the substrate of a construction, as a mere piece of soil, since it is not.
In this sense, pier and building become a single element, inwhich circulation, structure and the linking of plans and spaces develop a path that leadsthe visitor to understand the breadth of the context in which the museum and its inhabitants are inserted. In fact, for those who inhabit this building, there is no triumph of the sea over the sky, not even of the skyover the sea.
There is only the recognitionthat the limits established between these elements, inseparable from human contact with water, are capable of generating not only theconnection between zenith and nadir, but also between land and sea, between the city resting on the ground and theuniverse in front of it. Those who are there immediately recognize that, for the human condition, sailing has always been necessary

The structure lands on the water and hugs the pier in an act of proto-cooperation
This helps to stabilize the aerial structure of the museum, which in turn has a mooring function. of the existing structure. The main structure of the building is composed of pillars in tubularsections of circular and metallic beams
The meeting of these elements takes place from base plates, welded to the pillars, so that they fit accurately. On the roof, curvedslabs made from steel deck tiles and light calendered I-beams form sheds for overhead lighting.

The space, of course, adds not only physical aspects, but also cultural ones. Therefore, the design of the building moves away from a purely physical approach. Its objective is to privilege the articulation of the body with the space, evidencing its experience character.
Space is placed as a political prod uct, and architecture is thought interms of an event, and not function. Thus, a minimum of devices creates a maximum of possibilities, allowing engagement to flourish. of the community.

The exhibition proposal intends to imagine the use of modular displays capable of conform the most varied types of space and meet different types of use.the modules refer to the naval aesthetics of the masts and sails of the vessels, as well as the chaining of the pier and dolphin structures.
Two exhibitions are presented as an example of partnerships between museum collections, such as the Museu Nacional do Mar, and federal institutes, such as the IPHAN

At Taller 1+1, I worked as a lead design architect, as I was assigned a client who wanted to build an aparment complexas well as two houses.
The goal was to rent them to any tourists that wanted to spend time in the jungle of Sayulita. The experience and language had to be unique, butclean and minimalist.
The projects play with minimalist volumetries that frame the organic beauty of the jun gle. Offering multiple experi ences across all kinds of spatial arrangements: living rooms, pools, courtyards, bedrooms, terraces, etc.
The materiality, by request ofthe office and the client, had to convey an artisanal image. Of ahouse that is handcrafted to be an integral part of its landscape.

Project developed for the “Watch Tower Competition” published at AG360.
The goal of the contest was to develop a mobile watch tower capable of being used in several ways and places:concerts, the beach, at a forest, etc.
The team decided to to divide the space into two: a space for the lifeguard on top and space for the public to rest andcome for aid on the bottom. Because of this division, and the maximum of square meters allowed, the lower space had to be wider and more open than the one on top. This, ultimately, lead us to create a triangular shaped watch tower.
The project was mentioned as“honorouble mention” at the end of the contest.

The project seeks to address the housing problems left bythe earthquake that ocurred in September 19th, 2017 in Mexico City, offering a newhousehold to those who lost it .
The terrain where a collapsing apartment lies is used for the projection of this initiative; being an important point of convergence in the city, the project has the opportunity tobecome an urban landmark that promotes pedestrian andcommercial life at a local level.
Surrounded by vehicular roadways, the project lifts itself from the ground on a singular structural element that grants panoramic freedom to the building in all its levels: Roofgarden , Apartments &Commercial level.

The building leaves a space in ground level to allow the free circulation of the pedestrians.
Moreover, it promotes communal gatherings as it re-inserts the bussineses lost in the earthquake

Competition - Pavillion
Project developed for the “CasaWabi - Orchid Pavillion” com petition.
The premises of the competi tion was to design a pavillionfor Orchid care and artisinal creation. The architectural language had to be integrated with the whole Wabi complex, designed and built by TadaoAndo.
Our proposal aimed at being a simple arrangement that kepta close connection with its en vironment. By using a singlewall, we intend to divide the space into two: education and orchid laboratory. This porouselement would also have niches to store the finest specimens of each Orchid sub-species.
The pavillion submerges in the middle, allowing to rise a table without interrupting the hori zontality of the volume.

Specimen exhibition space at the front of the pavillion.
Takes advantage of the big courtyard that lies in front of the establishment, to pro pose an education center in which people may listen to important information be fore entering the pavillion.
The materials chosen were brick and wood, since these are the most populat materials used in the rest of the Wabi Complex.

CONTEMPLATE. - It comes from the Latin contemplari, translated as “to look carefully at a delimited space”, the prefix with which it means “together” and templum, which means “temple” or “sacred place”. The templum was the place where the Greek augurs observed the sky, furrowing it or cuttingit with structures in order to know the will of the gods.
The word contemplate is thus born from observing nature through a structure made byman. The structure delimits and furrows in the horizon tal and vertical plane, it forms spaces. By contemplating, you also rest; the space must coverone more function.
GRECA seeks to adapt these functions through a continu ous line, generating a space that rises above its walls to providea view of the Alameda Central.
The space is made up of a stair case structured through wood en platforms or pallets, with a chair at its highest part. The staircase is divided in two, gen erating seats on one side anda continuous staircase on the other side. The walls are struc tured through a wooden frame and thanks to its uninterruptedline, it embraces (or appropriates) the existing urban furni ture, as one more extension to provide rest for the pavilion’s visitors.
GRECA is integrated into the urban landscape incorporating the yellow color of its nearby context and generating small openings or windows that allow an interaction between the interior and the exterior.

PHASE 1
Neutral phase without anyattachment. This is the most open design option of the 13 possible.
PHASE 2
Possibility in which a frontmodule is attached that creates a private interior patio atthe rear and a terrace on the second floor.
PHASE 3
In addition to the front module, a double module is added that could accommodate up to 4 people. The interior patio of the kitchen remains intact, so the interior lighting andventilation is not eliminated.
PHASE 4
Front module is placed on thelower module which creates an outward barrier in exchangefor the accommodation of more people

Pavillion Architecture
A space in which I worked as design assistant for the archi tects. I helped in the design exploration efforts, making maquettes and renders to visualise ideas. From Fundamen tal’s webpage:
“Together with three other firms, we were invited to par ticipate in the realization of a 24 m2 ephemeral architecture project that would form part of the Habitat Expo Trends Pa vilion. Our proposal was nour ished by approximations where construction processes, ma terials and assembly systemswere discarded due to the short period of time for the materialization of an idea.
As the final option, we selected the proposal that comprehen sively linked the atmosphere we wanted to produce, the constructive feasibility of the assembly and the use of coat ings in 1.5 x 3.0 m sections for athree-dimensional modulated system.
Half of the project (a module of3 x 4 x 3 meters) was resolved with a series of triangular folds and lighting management em phasizing the geometry of these in their edges, while the otherhalf (a second module of the same dimensions) contained a stepped platform to explore the space and discover the change in perspective, light intensities, contrasts and geometric effects produced from reflections thatblurred the limits of the instal lation.”
