According to the landlord, up to 10% of his hundreds of tenants are behind on their payment.in Seattle Landlord Carl Haglund of Seattle believes that the pandemic-era restrictions are to blame for an increase in tenants skipping rent payments.

The difficulty is that the city has introduced new legislation that makes it more difficult for us to properly evict the tenants and that has made it very expensive during this COVID embargo, according to Haglund.

Haglund cited one tenant in particular—KING 5 is not naming him—who allegedly hasn't cleaned up after his pets in months as an illustration. Haglund asserts that the tenant is likewise delinquent on payments. According to the landlord, up to 10% of his hundreds of tenants are behind on their payment.

Evictions in Seattle have been suspended by Mayor Jenny Durkan's executive order at least through the end of September. According to the decree, residents may be evicted if there is a "imminent threat to health and safety," but according to city officials, a court will have to make that determination in Haglund's tenant's instance.

There is absolutely no redress available to us, Haglund stated. Since the start of the pandemic, Durkan has increased the eviction ban five times
