Mooiste matriekrok tydens swierige funksie gekies Die wenner van die Herald se Mooiste Matriekrok-kompetisie vir 2016 is Vrydagaand tydens ‘n swierige funksie gekies. Dié kompetisie, wat die Herald reeds sedert 2000 aanbied, het vanjaar ‘n nuwe baadjie gekry. Nie net is 20 finaliste in plaas van die 10 van vorige jare gekies nie, maar die finaal by Soli-Deo Venue in Carletonville was ook swieriger as ooit tevore. Drie beoordelaars, waarvan twee, Leonora Ackerman en Melissa Zwart uit die modelwêreld kom en die derde, Mick Owen, ‘n nasionale mode-ontwerper is, het die meisies en hul rokke beoordeel. Die bekende me. Annett Venter van Fochville was die compère, terwyl ‘n plaaslike kunstenaar, Pierre Vermeulen, die gaste met sy besondere stem vermaak het. Op die spel was groot pryse, onder meer ‘n vakansie by Magaliespark, verskeie kontantpryse, waarvan die hoogste R1 000 was, en geskenkbewyse van verskeie besighede asook geskenpakke van President Hyper. Living Gold Roosplaas het nie net gesorg dat die wenners en deelnemers pragtige blomme kry nie, maar dat daar ook genoeg blomme was om die saal lieflik te versier. Natasha de Wet van Hoërskool Carletonville met ‘n klassieke donker rooi rok het met die eersteplek weggestap. Shani Bence, óók van Hoërskool Carletonville, het met nóg ‘n donker rooi skepping die titel as eerste prinses verower. Talita Roos van Hoërskool Fochville se pragtige beige en goue rok was derde. Simoné Harman van Hoërskool Fochville is as Mej. Persoonlikheid aangewys, terwyl Natasha de Wet ook met die prys as Mej. Fotogenies weggestap het. Die Herald wil graag vir me. Wilma Koen en haar span van Soli-Deo Venue, sowel as al die borge bedank.
