Stubbs ready to take on Trudeau on the campaign trail own political power to BY JOHN MATHER Lakeland MP Shannon try to win a majority Stubbs said she is ready government.” Stubbs said she felt the for the upcoming election and quickly came election is a waste of out swinging at Prime $500 million of taxpayMinister Justin Trudeau. “One thing that has become glaringly obvious about Justin Trudeau since he became Prime Minister is that he is all about politics, all the time,” said Stubbs in an email Aug. 16. “Only months ago, he claimed he wasn’t interested in pursuing Lakeland MP Shannon Stubbs an election, and he has been able to count on the Bloc and ers’ money for no real the NDP to prop up his reason. But, she added, policy and legislative she was ready to take on agenda in Parliament, so the reckless spending his claims about the need Liberals and looked forfor this election are ward to an opportunity baloney. It is clearly just to defeat the Liberals and a pursuit to increase his get them out of govern-

ment. “I hope Canadians in every region won’t give him a pass for plunging the country into this selfish, self-centred election while families and communities struggle with severe drought, forest fires, trying to save their businesses and get back to normal,” Stubbs declared. “Rural communities are struggling with harvest coming up, and families and communities are preparing for kids to get to school after the past challenging year and a half.” She added there may still be health risks from the pandemic for elderly and vulnerable people. Finally she added the situation in Afghanistan is escalating where interpreters and other Afghans who worked with the Canadian Armed Forces against the Taliban for human rights, freedom and

democracy, are now being left behind with their lives and the whole country at risk. “Trudeau’s obvious, cynical grab for powerat-any-cost should trouble everyone,” explained Stubbs. “But unfortu-

nately it isn’t surprising – it is exactly why he has broken almost all of his major promises, and has been embroiled in one ethics scandal and corruption after another.” “We are ready to go in Lakeland, and as always,

I, and our team, will work hard to earn every single vote. I am proud to serve and to represent the people of Lakeland, and hope I can secure their trust and confidence again.”
