rinidadian-Born rapper, Nicki Minaj has surpassed the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson’s record for the most Billboard Hot 100.

On August 15th Nicki Minaj’s latest single ‘Anaconda’ debuted at number 19, giving the rapper her 51st Hot 100 hit, beating Jackson’s previous record of 50.

While it was only 4 years ago that Minaj made her chart debut in February 2010 when she was featured on Lil Wayne’s ‘Knockout’.

Minaj’s launched her first as a lead artist came a few months later with ‘Your Love’.

Today on her Instagram account ‘Made history today,’ Minaj announced. ‘I didn’t even know I was tied with Michael Jackson with 50 Hot 100 entries on Billboard. Anaconda makes 51 and now I’m tied with Rod Stewart.

7. APPLY FOR US CITIZENSHIP.

1. STAY OUT OF TROUBLE WITH THE LAW. a. If you are charged with a crime, make sure your lawyer knows your immigration status. b. Do not take a plea to any charge without first talking to an immigration attorney about the consequences of your plea. c. If you have taken a plea or been convicted of a crime do not travel without talking to an immigration attorney about the consequences of your conviction.

2. UPDATE ALL ADDRESS CHANGES WITHIN 10 DAYS. If you move, you are required to update your address with USCIS within ten (10) days. Go to http://www.uscis.gov and click on “Change your address.”

US citizenship offers more benefits than being a permanent residence. Additionally you cannot be deported and will become eligible for certain government or law enforcement jobs.

8. REGISTER FOR SELECTIVE SERVICE. If you’re male between age 18 and 26, register for Selective Service when you turn 18. You may register by going to www.ssss.gov. All males whether you are a green card holder or undocumented must register. A social security number is not required for registration.

9. COMPLY WITH ALL TAX LAWS. File any required tax returns and pay all outstanding tax obligations as a failure to do this could affect your ability to become a US citizen.

3. ALWAYS HAVE YOUR GREEN CARD OR KNOW WHERE 10. FALSE CLAIM TO US CITIZENSHIP. TO LOCATE IT. If your card is lost, stolen or expired ensure that you apply for a replacement or renewal card. Your permanent residency does not expire but the card does and you will need it as proof of authorization to work and to obtain a driver’s license.

4. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT – ALSO APPLIES TO IMMIGRATION. If Immigration Customs & Enforcement (ICE) or Customs & Border Patrol (CBP) arrests you or comes to your house do not speak to them without first asking to speak with your lawyer. If you are detained always request a hearing before an immigration judge closest to where you live and: • • • • •

she and her then-7-year-old son died at the Peoples Temple settlement led by Jim Jones. Mr. Irvin Ray Perkins, her husband, of Antioch, California, told news reporters on Friday that at the time he had tried to determine what happened to his wife’s and son’s remains without success.

Back in 1978 when the tragedy happened in Guyana, over 900 bodies had been taken to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, this was the home to the U.S. military’s largest mortuary. Local funeral homes helped prepare the bodies and return them to relatives over the course of several months.

Many of the remains were never claimed and more than 400 were buried in a mass grave at a California cemetery, while the rest were either cremated or buried in family cemeteries.

Of course, many persons who fought for and observed that glorious transition on August 6, 1962, are no longer with us. While it is recognized that there is much work to be done to raise the living standards of all our people, and to achieve socio-economic development commensurate with targets articulated in the National Development Plan Vision 2030, we rise to the challenges ahead, looking forward assuredly with determination, hope, and pride to a brighter future, always with the triumphant colours of the “black, green, and gold” representing the aspirations of our Nation.

On behalf of the Government of Jamaica, I am pleased to acknowledge, with sincere gratitude, the contributions made by many organizations within the area of jurisdiction of the Consulate-General to the celebration of this defining instant in Jamaica’s history. “There was so much chaos. ... I never got a chance to get hold of anybody who knew anything exactly, so I just sort of backed off,” said Perkins, who recalled being told that somebody would get back with him. It took 37 years but “Somebody just got back to me 37 years later,” said Perkins, now 64, who described his late wife as a “wonderful wife and a beautiful person.” Perkins said he had planned to join his wife and son at Jonestown but never got the chance. “Twenty days later, I would have been there,” he said.

Perkins still doesn’t know what happened to the remains of his son but suspects they may have been among the unidentified remains buried at the California cemetery in 1979. Perkins is planning to make arrangements with Delaware authorities to have his wife’s remains shipped to him. He plans to place her remains on his mantle.

“I don’t have the money to come out there,” said Perkins, who spoke Thursday with James Patton, an investigator with Delaware’s Division of Forensic Science. State officials have refused to publicly identify those whose remains were found because relatives were still being notified. However, an email from state officials indicated that the remains of Maud Perkins and two others had been claimed by relatives. Officials said Thursday that 38 containers of cremated remains were discovered inside the funeral home building, and that 33, including those of the Jonestown victims, were clearly marked.

Jim Jones led the Peoples Temple in San Francisco in the early 1970s. As allegations of wrongdoing mounted, he moved the settlement to Guyana, with hundreds of followers. On Nov. 18, 1978, on a remote jungle airstrip, gunmen from the group ambushed and killed U.S. Rep. Leo Ryan of Cali-

church refused the $4 million offer the city made for the land, the church had wanted a $30 million deal for the land and that it did not want to sell at all, so the city was forced to file suit.

On Aug. 4, the city announced that it had rescinded its suit and had reworked its plans for a new site for the stadium. The new site shifts the $100 million stadium one block to the west of the original site. Orlando City Soccer president Phil Rawlins joined Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer at City Hall to make the public announcement. “While this is a win for Orlando City soccer, it is also a win for the Parramore community” said Phil Rawlins president of the Orlando City Soccer Club.

The one block move to the west was realized because of a deal entered between the city and the Black Business Investment Fund. The city entered into an arrangement with the Black Business Investment Fund, which has for years attempted to develop the parcel at Church Street and Parramore Avenue. This move would streamline the scheduling of construction and allow for a new design which will provide a larger footprint, added Mayor Dyer.

The soccer team is scheduled to make its debut in the new stadium for its 2016 season, however in the interim, the team will relocate to the renovated Citrus Bowl. “Orlando City is committed to Parramore’s future, and we will serve as a role model for service and citizenship. We have a proven track record of delivering on our promises, and we look forward to working closely with our community partners,” said Phil Rawlins.

The city purchased the land from the BBIF for just $2 million.

There is some complication with the deal since the BBIF entered into an economic incentive deal with the city and its Community Redevelopment Agency which was worth $878,000. The original deal was included plans to construct the Carver Theatre project, which was supposed to help revitalize Parramore, bring 225 to 350 new jobs to the area and create retail, residential and office space.

The BBIF will now have 20 years to pay off its debt to the city ($43,900 annually). Should the BBIF miss a payment, the city is authorized to levy a 3 percent late fee and to deduct that payment from other grant funding the group gets from the city.

The development of this city soccer stadium will do wonders for the future development of soccer in Orlando and provide great opportunities for youth development and exposure to world class interna-

So, why all the political rhetoric about deporting the thousands of unaccompanied minor immigrant children that have recently flooded the southern U.S. border. A long-standing principle of the U.S. Government has been to demonstrate global leadership by providing humanitarian options to immigrants who are in the most vulnerable and desperate of situations. One such immigrant group is children who find themselves in this country without parental care due to abuse,

Processing of unaccompanied minors typically progresses, as follows: within 72 hours of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) detaining unaccompanied foreign children, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Office of Refugee Resettlement places them in federally-staffed facilities with varying levels of security and services. The children are given “Know Your Rights” presentations, provided by non-profit organizations and pro bono attorneys, wherein they learn about a variety of immigration benefits.

Those children who appear to meet no criteria for a benefit may elect “Voluntary Departure” and return to their country of origin.

However, the SIJ provisions allow qualifying foreign children to obtain relief from removal, and other important immigration benefits, such as employment authorization. Qualifying foreign children may self-petition for SIJ status by filing Form I-360, Petition for Amerasian, Widow(er), or Special Immigrant.

SIJ petitioners may also apply concurrently to remain permanently in the United States by filing Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status.

Just think about the sense of urgency and difficult reality that these children are facing – leaving their family and home to enter a country where they know no one, don’t speak the language and don’t have a home. Where is the American hospitality and humanitarian arm?

Is the Black Vote in Play in the 2014 Florida Governor’s Race?

It appears that the African American electorate can learn a new strategy from the Latino voters. It makes no sense that African American voters are predictable, and the Democratic Party expects our vote for every election. They spend very few resources with the Black Media, and they promise no projects or programs for our community.

But, Charlie Crist or Governor Scott and their representatives are very rarely seen at Black events or they just do not care. Commonwealth Games 2014

Jamaican athletes represent the Caribbean with pride ver the 11 days the city has rolled out the carpet to thousands of athletes, officials and visitors and hosted a fun filled festival of sport and culture on a scale that the city has never been seen before. On the day of the Closing Ceremony, (Sunday 3 August), organisers of the Games showed their gratitude to everyone who has played their part in making these Games a success from the clyde-siders, the Host City volunteers, Police Scotland and all the workers who kept the city going. But most thanks went to the people of Glasgow who welcomed the Commonwealth to their city.

It was a Games which saw more than 140 Commonwealth records broken as elite athletes from 71 nations and territories competed for Games glory. The Home Nations triumphed in front of ecstatic crowds who raised the roof in packed venues across 11 days. Glasgow’s glorious Games, the largest sporting event in the city’s history saw nearly 3.5 million people passed through Central Station, over 50,000 cuddly Clyde Mascots sold out, 171,000 attended the Rugby Sevens – a record-breaking number for the sport. Well over a million people visited the Glasgow 2014 website per day, over half a million people visited the Live Site at Glasgow Green and well over a million mentions of Glasgow 2014 on social networks since the Opening Ceremony and over 1.2 million tickets were sold.

But, life a gwaan. I figured folks are anxiously waiting for me to tell them what to do next, on this journey to peak physical fitness (right!) so I better get on wid it.

Well, that’s easier said than done. A lot of people, particularly women, don’t really know what to do wid weights. A whole lotta men don’ know either, but they like front like they do. So never worry – Dread is here to let the whole a unna know whuh fuh do in the weight room.

Fus ting: de headline on dis (The Best Workout For Everyone!) is a joke, coz no such thing exists. We all different and our bodies work differently. No one workout will achieve everybody’s goals. But I figure it might ketch some attention, so ah hope dat worked.

Having said that, though, I do believe mos’ strongfully that there’s a workout plan that will help most people achieve the “look good (almost) naked” goal. Since the recommendation was “lif’ weights”, the workout will consist of nothing but weights.

The world is filled wit weightlifting programs.

All kinda split routines (e.g. Chest, Back, Shoulders, Legs, Arms as one example; 5 x 5 as another) as well as circuits (work ever y major muscle group ever y workout). You could even split circuits, so you’d do a upper body circuit one day, then a leg circuit the next, and keep rotating like that. Most of these kinds of workouts are fairly advanced, so beginners should probably do something different fus. I recommend a full body circuit.

What would this look like in practice? I’d start with a shoulder exercise, that takes the joint through all it’s angles of motion.

Then go to a chest exercise, followed by a back exercise. While big arms are of no use in most functions in life, thay do help a lot wid de whole “look good nekkid” ting, and that’s true for both men and women.

So, we do biceps and triceps next. From there, we’re done with the upper body.

The next big muscle group is one often neglected, particularly by dudes: the glutes.

There are a number of exercises that isolate the glutes, but they’re very specific and need special equipment or set up time.

As such, I’d probably recommend a compound movement (one that involves a number of joints), like a deadlift. You could also come up wid yuh own exercise involving weights. The main purpose of the glutes is hip projection (think dollah win’!), so if you can come up wid anything like dat, wid some sort of resistance, gwaan go do it.

After the glutes, you move down to the quads (the big muscle group in the front of your legs). Leg extensions good fuh dat.

Then tu’n around and do something fuh de hamstrings. I would ignore the calves, coz in all the years of watching people train, I ain’ ever see anyone mek improvements in dey calves, an’ de flip side: people wid nice calves almost never do any direct wuk pon dem. Is all or mostly genetics, or consistent, intense wuk outside de gym, like running, cycling or sprinting.

So once yuh finish dat, yuh finish one circuit. Start over an do it again. Yuh should aim to finish 3 every session, but yuh prob won’t finish more than one at fus. Yuh should never spend more than an hour in the gym. All yuh exercises should be with a weight that you could only do about 8 – 10 reps with. I also advise people to do some kinds of core exercise in between exercises, so the bulk of the workout is midsection work.

After all, arms might be nice, but abs is most important!

Do a light stretch in any areas you think you need to, and head on out of the gym to enjoy de res’ a yuh day/evening.

admired Robin Williams’ work because he made me and the world laugh. The Bible says, Proverbs 17:22 “A joyful heart is good medicine…”. He entertained on radio, TV, movies, cartoons and newspaper articles. He was funny.

Not just comical but infectiously funny. He was a genius in his craft of entertainment and he made sense each time he was interviewed. I would look for a moment of insanity when he was at his highest stage of manically hysterics just because I couldn’t imagine anyone being “happy all the time”. All that joyfulness that I saw could be the culprit that killed him because “we” never saw “it” coming.

Suicide:The termination of one’s life. Should suicide be an option? NO! Suicide comes about when all hope is gone and the forces of negativity over powers the presence of the Lord.

Then, there is the planned execution that takes twelve or so years to take place. It is scheduled like a cesarean section for a birth. I’m watching the report on the television about a fellow being executed twenty years after the murder and I was amazed as to the preparation he went through before he dies. There was even a stay of execution. I’m sure it was a time of torture to the family of the victim but he was given a little more time to live…precious time as a gift from the governor. He craved for life because death is final. Or is it?

According to the Hindu beliefs, if a person commits suicide, he neither goes to the hell or the heaven, but remains in the earth consciousness as a bad spirit and wanders aimlessly till he completes his actual and allotted life time. Therefore he goes to a hell and suffers more severely. In the end he returns to the earth again to complete his previous karma and start from there once again. Suicide puts an individual’s spiritual clock

The number one cause of suicide is depression. I can think of a balloon that is blown up and used to celebrate a birthday (happy time) then it slowly deflates and falls to the ground. Depression is masked with sunglasses or shoved aside without proper treatment. It slowly creeps upon its victims to devour them but there are always warning signs to look for.

Now I’m thinking about the sudden death of a loved one and how the pain is able to rip against the hope of the future. Remember these promises when you feel despondent. In St. John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal (your life) and to kill (your life) and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. And in Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to bless you and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Death leaves a lasting impact on those left behind. And the scars do not heal easily.

had the opportunity to prepare my tantalizing Nutty Apple Crunch recipe for La Vie Wellness Spa in Metro West at their grand opening celebration in December, 2013 and everyone that tasted the Nutty Apple Crunch loved it. Some people thought it would be great to add to their breakfast meal with yogurt. Some thought that it would be a great snack to take to work. Others thought that it would be the perfect healthy snack for their children because it was homemade without any artificial color or flavor, and it was not loaded with processed sugar.

When I was growing up in Jamaica, I loved to eat cut cake and grater cake because of the crunchy coconut taste. I wanted to stay connected to my Jamaican roots so I created my Nutty Apple Crunch Recipe with shredded coconut, granola, raisins, cranberries, apples and maple syrup and this combination of ingredients worked in perfect harmony. The maple syrup and coconut mixture adds a nice rich sweet creamy texture, and the shredded coconut and sliced apples and granola gives it the crunchy munchie taste. The cranberries and raisins adds a sweet and tart taste to the Nutty Apple Crunch that make you want to come back for more. You simply love it from the first bite.

NUTTY APPLE CRUNCH Ingredients 2 small apples (pealed) 2 tablespoons granola 2 tablespoons raisins 1 tablespoon dried cranberries 1 tablespoon shredded coconut 1 tablespoon maple syrup or raw agave Method: Wash the apples and peel them; slice the apples. You can dice them to make smaller pieces. Put the apple pieces in a bowl, and add granola, raisins, cranberries, shredded coconut and mix all ingredients together.

Add maple syrup and mix ingredients again.
