Actuaries Professionalism Course
Andrew Long is a Managing Director at WTW. His life journey started in Jamaica and he is now based in London. He specialises in advising trustees and employers on managing pension risk in the UK, Caribbean and other markets. One of his passions is developing talent via mentoring, sponsoring scholarships (including the IFoA Foundation Fullerton-Long Scholarship) and funding sport programmes in both the UK and Jamaica.
Onassis Nottage is the Co-Founder, and Managing Director of RSLT Lab, B.V. an AI consultancy firm located in Leider Dorp, Netherlands, specializing in large language model solutions.
Onassis holds an associate’s degree in engineering physics and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of The Bahamas. He then pursued his master’s degree in Big Data and Artificial Intelligence from the University of Barcelona. Working in the big data and AI space, Onassis has positioned himself as an emerging leader in the industry, designing and developing AI solutions in Brazil, Spain, and Germany.
Judy Veira is an independent consulting actuary with Trinity Consulting Ltd., based in St. Vincent & the Grenadines, providing actuarial services to private employer and government-related pension plans in the region, including services related to plan design, plan terminations, pension reform, valuations, plan administration and preparation of trust deeds & plan documents. Additionally, she has many years of experience in the social security field, primarily with the National Insurance Services of St. Vincent and Turks & Caicos Islands
Her actuarial work experience began with Manufacturers Life, Toronto and Towers Perrin, New York & Pittsburgh.
She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and graduate of the University of Western Ontario and has completed Levels 1 and 2 of the Chartered Financial Analyst program.
Judy is the President of the CAA (2023-2025), a member of the social security committee, served on the CAA’s executive council (2017- 2019), Chairman of the Board for the Bank of St. Vincent & the Grenadines and obtained the Chartered Director (C. Dir.) designation (2020).
Matthew Aubry is a dedicated advocate for social justice and the development of the notfor-profit sector, with over three decades of experience. As Executive Director of the Organization for Responsible Governance (ORG) in The Bahamas, he leads initiatives to engage citizens, civil society, and the private sector in promoting accountable governance and enhancing social and economic opportunities. His work has spanned across several countries, where he has trained leaders, influenced policy, and driven sustainable change in the sector.
Prior to ORG, Matthew held leadership roles at renowned agencies like YAI Network and Action Against Hunger. In The Bahamas, his impact as Director of Community Relations and Partnerships at Baha Mar, where he managed the BELIEVE Foundation, was transformative. He has also consulted for numerous esteemed organizations and has been instrumental in national initiatives such as the National Skills Development Committee and the OAS AntiCorruption Hub, solidifying his reputation as a key figure in not-forprofit management and advocacy.
Mrs. Amba Zeggen, MSc in Mathematics and Actuarial Sciences, is a partner and the head of the insurance practice at Probability & Partners, a Dutch risk management consultancy firm.
Amba provides strategic support to various insurance companies, helping them enhance their risk management in areas such as capital management, ESG solutions, and risk culture.
She emphasizes the critical role of scenario analysis in risk management, particularly in assessing the impact of factors like geopolitical changes, macroeconomic developments, climate change, and the energy transition. Recognizing the interconnectedness of these issues, Amba advocates for an expanded knowledge base, collaborating across fields like geopolitics, climatology, and social science to create future scenarios that are relevant to the financial industry and beyond. Her approach includes evaluating implications and potential solutions to manage and mitigate identified risks.
In addition to her role as a partner, Amba serves as a lecturer in Insurance Risk Management at the Amsterdam Business School and Dutch Actuarial Institute and holds non-executive board positions with several insurance companies. In 2015, she was honoured as the Dutch Actuary of the Year.
Amba lives in Amsterdam, with her husband and two daughters. She enjoys reading, sports, and time spent with family and friends.

Richard A. Darville is an accomplished executive leader with extensive experience in the insurance industry. Currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer at Bahamas First General Insurance
Limited (BFG), Richard has a proven track record of driving organizational growth, profitability, and transformational change. His expertise spans technical underwriting, claims management, and operational efficiency, with a strong focus on innovation and collaboration.
Throughout his career, Richard has successfully led the redevelopment of claims operations, introduced in-house claims counsel, and fostered a results-driven culture that significantly reduced claims and litigation costs. He has also played a pivotal role in strategic planning, crisis management, and regulatory compliance, demonstrating his ability to navigate complex challenges and deliver impactful results.
Richard holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Leicester and an Associate of Arts (AA) in Accounts from The University of The Bahamas. He is a Certified Insurance Professional (CIP) and an Associate of the Insurance Institute of Canada (AIIC). His professional memberships include Treasurer and Founding Member of the Insurance Institute of The Bahamas and former Treasurer of the Health Professions Council. In addition to his professional achievements, Richard is actively involved in civic and community organizations, with a particular focus on the development of young males and at-risk children.
Mrs. Niekia Horton is the CEO and Executive Director of The Bahamas Financial Services Board an association dedicated to promoting the financial services industry of The Bahamas. Prior to her role with the Board, Mrs. Horton served as both Director and Deputy Chairperson of the Association of International Banks and Trust Companies. She has held senior executive roles, including C-suite positions, at one of the world’s most prestigious and long-standing private banks, establishing a proven track record of leadership excellence. Additionally, Mrs. Horton has served as a director for multiple investment and trust companies, where she led the development and execution of comprehensive corporate governance frameworks and oversaw operations across a variety of international jurisdictions.
Mrs. Horton holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in International Business from the University of Miami. She is a licensed Chartered Accountant (CA), a Chartered Director (C.Dir), and is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). Outside of her professional accomplishments, Mrs. Horton is deeply committed to lifelong learning and empowering others through knowledge. Mrs. Horton is also a devoted wife and the proud mother of three children.

Darcel G. Smith-Williamson is the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer for The Bahamas First Holdings
Group of Companies (BFH), with oversight in The Bahamas and Cayman Islands. She was admitted to both the Bar of England and Wales, UK, and The Bahamas Bar in 2007 and is a member of The Honourable Society of Middle Temple. She is a cohort of the UN-51st International Law Seminar Alumni Session, Chair of the Bahamas Insurance Association Legislative Committee, holding membership in Rotary ACAMS and other professional associations. She has an AA Degree in Law and Criminal Justice, (College of the Bahamas), LL.B. (Hons) from the University of Kent, U.K, and a Postgraduate Degree (PGDL) in Law from Northumbria University, where she achieved the designation of "Very Competent” for the Bar Vocational Course, achieving other accolades too many to note. With over 17 years of legal, court practice and and regulatory experience spanning public and private sectors, Darcel began her career in civil/commercial litigation at a top law firm, then served nearly a decade at The Attorney General’s Office (OAG) of The Bahamas. She gained experience in constitutional law, judicial review, a wide range of civil litigation matters, cross-border proceedings and Crown advisor to government agencies and regulatory bodies, rising swiftly in ranking from Assistant Crown Counsel to Senior Crown Counsel. She later returned to private practice accepting a role as Senior Associate at another top-tier law firm where she advised/represented high-net-worth clients, Insurers, and other corporate entities. The trajectory of experience over her career as made her well-rounded and she brings a multidimensional perspective on legislation, regulatory oversight and insurance law. She is a passionate Rotarian, who embodies excellence guided by the Rotary mantra of putting “Service above Self.”
Carbon Credits - What are they and will they make a difference?
Mrs. Rochelle Newbold has been working in the environmental field for more than 23 years. She has worked in both public and private sectors of The Bahamas and the United States managing environmental matters. She has also managed
United Nations regionally funded projects and was the first Chair of the Bahamas Global Environmental Facility (GEF) Small Grant program. Mrs. Newbold also served as the first appointed Director of the Department of Environmental Planning and Projection, the first legislative environmental department in The Bahamas.
Mrs. Newbold is an experienced Climate Change Negotiator for The Bahamas, having led four technical delegations at the United Nations Climate Change Conferences (UNFCCC) since 2019. Mrs. Newbold contributed to the development of the first blue carbon credit initiative with the drafting of the Climate Change and Carbon Markets initiatives Act (2022) and proposed Regulations. As a result of her interactions at the various Conference of Parties to the UNFCCC, Mrs. Newbold successfully negotiated a position for The Bahamas on the recently established Loss and Damage Fund Board (2023).
Currently, Mrs. Newbold serves as Special Policy Advisor on Climate Change and Environmental Matters and Director of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister. Mrs. Newbold’s work with SDG matters began in the early 2000s with the Millennium Development Goals. Further, she was part of the leadership team which undertook the ten year review of the Barbados Plan of Action; a contributing factor to the present day 2030 Sustainable Development Goals Programme.

Tim Ingraham has nearly 40 years’ experience in the general insurance industry in The Bahamas and the U.K. He is a Fellow of the Chartered
Insurance Institute, a Chartered Insurer and is the Managing Director of a local Insurance Company.
He is currently Chairman of The Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers Confederation effective 1st December 2024 and has served on that organisations board for 6 years.
In the past, Tim has served in various roles including President of The Insurance Institute of The Bahamas, Chairman of the Bahamas Insurance Association, Director of The Insurance Association of The Caribbean and the Association of Insurance Institutes of The Caribbean, Director of The Bahamas Financial Services Board, and Treasurer and Director of Hands for Hunger.
Tim is a passionate Rotarian and is a Past Assistant Governor for Rotary Clubs of The Bahamas West (2015-2017) and Past President of The Rotary Club of Southeast Nassa. He is a Paul Harris Fellow plus 10, A Rotary Major Donor Level 1, a member of Rotary’s Bequest Society a member of The Rotary Whiskey, Wine and Rum Fellowships and The Rotarian Action Group for Peace.
He was born and raised in Tarpum Bay, Eleuthera The Bahamas and currently lives in financial exile in Nassau. Tim is married to Yvette and has three children, Torsha, Danard and Teniece. He enjoys learning, travel, fine wine and spirits, woodworking, and community service.

Claire Turnbull has over 25 years reinsurance experience Internationally and in the Caribbean.
Claire specializes in the Caribbean and heads the Aon London Caribbean team. Claire has facilitated merger and acquisition opportunities for existing clients, from initial opportunity, through to revised program design and capital management Claire holds a BA Hons degree in Economics and an MSc in Risk and Insurance.

Mr. Ward is currently President of the Insurance Association of The Caribbean. He is the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bahamas First Holdings Limited and its principal subsidiary Bahamas First General. Mr. Ward has held various technical and managerial jobs within the Insurance Industry over the last 30 years, and, over this period of time, he has attended various overseas courses and short-term work secondments to United Kingdom based insurance companies and institutions. He has extensive experience with reinsurance transactions and is recognized in the Caribbean as an industry leader.
Mr. Ward is a proud graduate of St. John’s College and qualified as an Associate and Fellow of the Insurance Institute of Canada in 1987 and 1990, respectively. In 1994 Mr. Ward graduated from the University of Miami Business School Executive MBA program with honors (Beta Gamma Sigma).
He was appointed Non-Executive Chairman of the National Insurance Board between 2007 and 2012, and Non-Executive Chairman of the Bahamas Mortgage Corporation between 2017 and 2020. He continues to serve as a Director on various other Civic and Company Boards. He has also assisted the Government of The Bahamas, in various capacities, on matters related to the insurance sector. He is a past Chairman of The Bahamas Insurance Association and in April of 2005 the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP), Bahamas Chapter, nominated him “Boss of The Year 2005/2006.

Christy Butler (BA Biological Sciences, MPH); is currently the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Health Insurance Authority, Nassau, Bahamas.
She completed her undergraduate studies in 2007 at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey, and subsequently received her master’s in public health in 2009 from Barry University, Miami Shores, Florida. Her professional history spans more than 15 years in public health, including Environmental Health and Health Policy and Management.
Mrs. Butler joined NHIA in 2019 as the Senior Manager of Operations and established the Primary Care Transformation Initiative Office. In 2021 she was appointed to the post of Chief Executive Officer of NHIA and over the last three years has advanced the NHIA strategic agenda towards the implementation of Universal Health Coverage.
Mrs. Butler is committed to health system transformation through progressive and patient-centered solutions. Her recent academic pursuits and certifications have centered on strategic change management, health law, and policy.
Mrs. Butler’s key areas of interest are healthcare policy design, financing, digitization, and reform. Mrs. Butler presents extensively at international forums on the NHI Bahamas program and the Bahamas’ journey to achieving Universal Health Coverage.
Health Insurance - Difficult to price and sell profitably
Lex de Jong is the current CEO of NHIB in Turks and Caicos, with a distinguished career in healthcare. After medical school, he worked in the Netherlands at several health insurers and represented the interests of the mental health care sector when a national financing system was developed and implemented. During his role Chief Medical Officer of Aruba’s national health insurer, he initiated and grew direct contracting with Colombia’s top hospitals, leading up to over 6000 referrals during 5 years, until he co-founded and became executive director of Aruba’s mental health care hospital. He consulted on Grenada’s reforms towards a NHI system until his recent move to the TCI.
Supporting and strengthening stakeholders in healthcare systems are key to Lex's professional identity. He navigates the complex intersections of government, insurers, and providers, fostering understanding and developing roles. Lex excels in transforming ideas into results, encouraging collaboration by focusing on the why and how. Throughout his career, he has maintained a broad perspective while focusing on essential details, managing diverse personalities, expectations, and resistance to change. Stephen Robinson is the Vice President of Strategic Projects at Sagicor Life Inc where he has been responsible for the development and implementation of a range of business
initiatives over the last three years.
Prior to that, Stephen led the Employee Benefits business at Sagicor Life and worked with clients in Barbados, Trinidad, Belize, the Dutch Caribbean and the Eastern Caribbean developing and managing their Pensions and Group Life and Health employee benefit programs.
During that time Stephen has presented on a wide range of Pensions topics to industry groups, clients and the general public and he is passionate about empowering people to make sound financial decisions.
Prior to his Employee Benefits responsibilities at Sagicor, Stephen managed the life reinsurance portfolio of RBC Insurance Company Limited and spent his early career in the actuarial department of The Barbados Mutual (now Sagicor).
Mr. Robinson holds a Bachelor of Mathematics in Actuarial Science from the University of Waterloo and is an avid cyclist who has travelled as far as the French Alps to feed his passion.

With two decades of industry experience; Sealy provided extensive coverage of the FTX saga involving fallen crypto-giant Sam Bankman-Fried and has covered the General Election of 2017, 2012 and 2021. In 2007 he traveled regionally for live coverage of the 26th General Meeting of the CARICOM Heads of Government held in St. Lucia in 2005.

Alicia is an experienced and creative leader with more than 25 years experience in the nonprofit association sector. She utilizes her skills in human resources, association
management, education and international relationship building for the benefit of the CIA and its members and is currently leading the transformation of actuarial education Canada for the Institute. Alicia is passionate about the development of professionals with an emphasis on communications, leadership, and professionalism in the public interest. She holds the Certified Human Resources Professional and Certified Human Resources Leader designations from the Human Resources Professionals Association in Ontario, Canada.

Dave Dillon, FSA, FCA, MAAA, of Dallas, TX, is serving as the 2024–2025 SOA President-Elect and Vice-Chair. Dillon became the 77th president at the 2025 ImpACT Conference, the SOA’s annual meeting. Dillon is Senior Vice President and Principal at Lewis & Ellis, LLC, in Dallas, TX, and an instructor at the Maurice R. Greenberg School of Risk Science – Actuarial Science at Georgia State University. As a consulting actuary, his career has centered around supporting insurance companies, state insurance departments, and other organizations navigating health insurance. Volunteering with the SOA since 2008, Dillon served as a member of the SOA Board of Directors, the SOA Professional Development Curriculum and Content Creation Council, the SOA Research Committee, and the SOA Health Section Council along with serving as a media liaison on health topics. He earned a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Oklahoma State University and a master's degree in Statistics and Actuarial Science from the University of Iowa.

Conrad Ferguson is the 61st President of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, holding the position for the 2024-2025 term.
Conrad began his career in the insurance industry and became the valuation actuary for
a small regional life insurer. He moved into consulting in the late 1980s, at first as a generalist working in pensions, workers’ compensation, group insurance and actuarial evidence. Over the last 20 years of his career, he has concentrated on pensions and workers’ compensation, with a particular focus on the development of sound funding policies. He also provided expert advice and support to several public task forces and review committees in workers’ compensation and pensions.
Conrad is a long-time CIA volunteer. He began his extensive volunteer journey in the 1980s, which culminated with him receiving the Award of Excellence in 2017. He served as chair of the Actuarial Standards Board from 2017 to 2019 and was a member of several designated groups and the former Practice Standards Council. He also chaired the Committee on Workers’ Compensation when the first standard for workers’ compensation practice was adopted. What’s more, he served on the Actuarial Evidence Committee, the Committee on Professional Conduct and a few other task forces and ad hoc groups.

Barry Franklin serves as President-Elect of the Casualty Actuarial Society. Barry has more than 40 years of professional experience in a variety of actuarial and risk management leadership roles. He recently founded Upstate Actuarial LLC, a boutique risk management and actuarial consulting firm, after retiring as Chief Actuary for Zurich North America. Previous roles include Chief Risk Officer for Zurich North America, Director of Corporate Risk Consulting for Towers Watson, Group Managing Director for Aon Global Risk Consulting, and Partner & Consulting Actuary with EY. Barry is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He has been an active CAS volunteer, having served on the CAS Board of Directors and Executive Council as well as numerous CAS committees and task forces. He has also served on the CERA Global Association Board and chaired the Joint Risk Management Section Council of the CAS, SOA and CIA. Barry holds a Bachelor of Sciences degree from Northern Illinois University, with a major in Probability & Statistics and a minor in Economics.

Dwayne is a Senior Manager in EY’s Insurance and Actuarial Advisory Services practice. He is based in the firm’s New York Office. Dwayne has over 10 years of
experience with EY serving insurance, reinsurance, and financial services clients. His skill set includes risk management, forecasting & stress testing, financial reporting, ALM, and Actuarial Transformation and merger & acquisitions. Dwayne is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). and member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA). In 2020, Dwayne was elected to the International Association of Black Actuaries (IABA) Executive Board as President. He has been involved with IABA since 2014, previously serving as Vice President from 2018-2020 and assisting in efforts to develop an Actuarial Ambassador Program (AAP) to promote the actuarial profession and foster the development of black actuarial students on college campuses. In 2015, Dwayne helped establish and institute an AAP program at Florida State University, organizing case studies as well as professional development events for students focused on career development, mentoring, personal branding, soft skills, etc.
Dwayne is a native of Toronto, ON and has earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, majoring in Actuarial Science from the University of Waterloo.
Ben Marshall is the SOA’s Regional Director, Americas. He is responsible for execution of the organization’s international strategy in Canada, Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. He is based in Waterloo, Ontario.
Ben is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA), a Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA), and a member of the Law Society of Ontario. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. Hons.) in Mathematics, a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) Degree, and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) Degree. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, and Christian Legal Fellowship.
Ben’s international role in the SOA includes identification of needs and solutions for member and stakeholder education and research, employer outreach, planning and resourcing professional development and networking events, furthering the SOA’s collaborative partnerships with other organizations, and serving as a resource and support for universities and candidates. He is also the staff leader for the SOA Ambassador Program and the International Section Council.
Before joining the SOA, Ben served as Chief Financial Officer for FaithLife Financial in Waterloo, Ontario. He previously was a senior executive in risk management and capital management for Royal Bank of Canada for nearly a decade. He practiced law in the Insurance Sector Practice Group of Stikeman Elliott in Toronto, and taught actuarial courses at the University of Calgary while in law school. He began his career with Confederation Life Insurance Company and was later the CFO and Chief Actuary of one of AEGON’s U.S.-based operating companies.

Neil is a Pension Actuary with extensive experience in the valuation of social security pension schemes, design of social protection schemes and private pension schemes. He served for several years as an ILO Local
Consultant on evaluation of pension schemes and the technical advisor to the Luxemburg-Ghana Social Trust Project. His other actuarial experience includes the construction of Mortality Tables and Health Financing Modelling.
Neil is currently the Lump Sum Benefit Manager at the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), the President of the Actuarial Society of Ghana (ASG) and Co-Chair of the Africa Task Force of the International Actuarial Association (IAA)
Kartina brings 25 years of diverse actuarial, risk management, governance, and regulatory experience. Her prior experience includes a BigFour audit firm, the Bank of England, global insurance carriers, and brokers.
Her most recent executive role is with WTW, the largest global insurance consultancy, as a Senior Director where she leads the risk, regulation, and governance proposition. Kartina also has nonexecutive experience, most recently for an FTSE-listed company and a fintech firm.
As a subject matter expert in the UK and European insurance regulation, she advises firms on resolving their regulatory issues and adding business value by helping boards in their decision-making.
From roles as Chief Risk Officer, a member of the supervisory panel at the Bank of England, and a partner to C-suites and boards of various firms, she brings practical experience to business solutions. Kartina holds leadership positions in the actuarial profession in the UK and globally. She has served on the IFoA Council for the past seven years and was a member of its Audit and Risk Committee. She was also on the Board of Directors of the Actuarial Association of Europe for four years.
Kartina is passionate about inclusion, social mobility, and education, which she has channelled through her role as the Chair of the IFoA Foundation for the past three years. She mobilised the charity to make a remarkable impact on the next generation of actuaries and the wider actuarial community.

Sanya Goffe was called to the Jamaican Bar in 2003 after studying at the Norman Manley Law School and the University of the West Indies. She is a Partner in the law firm Hart Muirhead Fatta, and one of only 21 attorneys from Jamaica to be listed in Chambers Global. Sanya’s practice focuses on the areas of pensions law, intellectual property law, capital markets, and corporate law.
Sanya is an Eisenhower Fellow and serves as a Director of NCB Financial Group Limited, Jamaica Producers Group Limited, and the National Insurance Board (the investment advisory board for Jamaica’s National Insurance Scheme). Sanya is also Chairman of Stratus Alternative Funds SCC and the President of the Pension Industry Association of Jamaica (PIAJ) where she supports the pension reform, education and advocacy mandates of the PIAJ. Recently named one of the Jamaica Gleaner’s Distinguished Awardees in Law, Sanya is also a member of the UK Association of Pension Lawyers and the International Pension Lawyers Association and a recipient of its Libby Slater Award for her outstanding contribution to the development of pensions law in Jamaica and most recently the Tony Thurman Award for the best published legal article in the International Pensions Lawyer.
Norbert is a UK-qualified actuary with over 25 years in pensions and investment consulting, advising major pension funds, central banks, and sovereign wealth funds across Europe, Guideline restrictions on investment strategy
the Middle East and Africa. His leadership roles include Partner at LCP, Chief Institutional Client Strategist at Janus Henderson, Wealth Growth Leader at Mercer and key positions at Russell Investments and Willis Towers Watson. With an MSc in Actuarial Science and a first-class BSc in Mathematics, Norbert is a recognized authority, sharing his insights globally through various media and conferences.
A British Jamaican, Norbert began his career as a software engineer in the Caribbean and pivoted to actuarial science in the UK in 1998. He has served on the IFoA’s Education Board and cofounded the IFoA Fullerton-Long Caribbean scholarship, supporting Afro-Caribbean actuarial students with scholarships, mentorship and internships.
Jamell Bodie

Jamell R. Bodie, CPA, MICA is the Manager of the Insurance Companies Unit, Supervision Department at the Insurance Commission. She has more than 20 years of financial sector experience including insurance, banking and trust primarily in regulatory, auditing and other risk management capacities. She has spent 14 years at the insurance Commission in various roles including manager of Policies and Practices leading the development of guidelines and contributing to the implementation of regulations for the insurance sector. In her current role she is responsible for the supervision of all domestic and external insurance companies as well as external intermediaries. Her Unit is also responsible for reviewing applications for new entrants into the insurance industry.
Stephanie is a life actuary at PwC Cayman Islands, primarily providing IFRS 17 implementation and managed services, audit support and acting as Appointed Actuary for (re)insurers across the Caribbean.
Prior to joining PwC in 2020, Stephanie worked at a large Canadian life insurer across different actuarial roles including pricing, valuation and internal audit.
Brandon has 13 years of experience in the Caribbean insurance industry. He attained his Fellowship of the Institute of Actuaries (FIA) in 2015 and has served in executive actuarial roles in Guardian group since 2019, covering Trinidad, the Dutch Caribbean and Jamaica. He currently serves as the Chief Product
Officer. He recently obtained his Certificate in Data Science from the Southampton Data Science Academy and has served on the Board of Directors of ATTIC and the pensions sub-committee of the Caribbean Actuarial Association.

Philippe Grégoire is currently working as a Consulting Actuary for JSCP, a P&C consulting firm and wholly owned subsidiary of Valani Global Ltd. Philippe is currently Appointed Actuary for several Caribbean and
Philippe has a diversified background, and his career path has been driven by intellectual curiosity. He started his career in group benefits and pension consulting at Morneau Shepell (now Telus Health). He went on to work at Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, the largest Mortgage Insurance Company in Canada.
Philippe has now been working as a P&C consulting actuary for the last three years, focusing on IFRS 17 and Appointed Actuary work. As a result of his diversified background, Philippe is often involved on non-traditional products and brings creativity in solving complex problems.
Iain Allan studied Pure Maths at Edinburgh University and qualified as an actuary. In the early part of his career, he worked in fund management, then in stockbroking at Phillips & Drew and investment banking at UBS. He
spent two years in Tokyo, getting a securities branch licence for UBS.
Between 1994 and 2008, Iain was Group Director, Strategy at RBS. In this role, he was involved in all aspects of the Group’s activities. He made particular contributions to RBS’s establishment of a supermarket banking joint venture with Tesco, its acquisition of the larger bank NatWest and its establishment of a strategic partnership with Bank of China.
Since leaving RBS (now known as NatWest), Iain has worked as an independent consultant. In this role, he has helped several smaller banks with their applications for banking licences in the UK, and has drafted responses to regulatory consultations on a broad range of banking topics.
Iain has been an Honorary Visiting Professor in the Faculty of Actuarial Science and Insurance at Bayes Business School (formerly Cass), City, University of London since 1991. He is Deputy Chair of the IAA Banking Virtual Forum. He was actively involved, working with ASSA, on the Banking Fellowship courses now being offered by the IFoA.
