GENWARES OFFICE PLAN The scope of work for the project is for the design student to create a space plan for GenWares new studio space in Edmonton. The students will space plan using the design process to give the client an optimum spatial design solution for their studio space. The space plan will also include specification of furniture, furniture finishes, and furniture materials reflective of the client’s requirements, needs and vision. The design student should ensure they are able to justify their choices through programing, research, and documentation of information through the design process. The final presentation of the board will present the final space plan, the furniture, finishes and materials of the optimum spatial design solution.

02 MILK & MUD RETAIL KIOSK DESIGN | GROUP PROJECT In groups of 3 design a retail kiosk for a specific client. The kiosk will be located in one of Simons Property Outlet Shopping Malls. The design must conform to the Kiosk Design criteria Manual provided by Simons Property Management. The kiosk size cannot exceed 12’-6” in length and no wider than 8’-0”. All design constraints must comply with the Simon’s property management design criteria. Each group will be assigned a specific type of retailer and will then research the display, fixture, and merchandising requirements for the particular type of retailer in order to explore innovative display methods. The Kiosk should be a custom design reflective of the independent retailer. Special attention should be given to lighting and signage. S marketing and operating a retail kiosk is a challenging and highly competitive endeavor, every effort should be made to create a design with high impact for an economically viable budget.

MILK & MUD RETAIL KIOSK DESIGN | GROUP PROJECT My group and I were given the opportunity to design a retail kiosk for a natural skin care brand. We decided to have open shelving throughout the space with glazing that cover the exterior showcasing the products so that they can be easily viewed when customers walk past. We added a hand washing station for customers to be able to use after testing out products. There is an above counter glazing that surrounds the POS area to ensure privacy but allow the sales associate to have good visuals. The signage is visible from the front and back of the kiosk.

03 WILDROSE COMMUNITY CENTER DESIGN PROJECT This project is an exercise that covers the design process from planning and design, through to design presentation. It is a retro-fit project which will accommodate an existing school building’s main floor being renovated into a Community Center. The Community Center will be for the unmet community demands of activities and programs that are not offered in the community presently.

04 WILDROSE COMMUNITY CENTER CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS From the design of the community center, we were tasked to sketch and design the construction drawing set based on our own design. This project required a floor plan, reflected ceiling plan, the floor finish plan, elevations for various components and the sections and details of the design required to provide a comprehensive interpretation of the design intent.

05 BRANCH ENERGY CONSTRUCTION DRAWING SET This project is an exercise that covers the requirements and standards to drafting and drawing construction documents based on someone’s design plans. I was tasked to create a full construction drawing set that detailed the floor plan, reflected ceiling plan, the floor finishes plan, details and millwork construction. I coordinated all the drawings, callouts and section details to ensure that all drawings are comprehensible and up to the standards according to building code.

07 DESIGN & STYLING OF APARTMENT LOFT IN DOWNTOWN EDMONTON This project required a full renovation of a 1300sqft. apartment in downtown Edmonton. The vision for this apartment was to create a bright open space that allow the natural light to flood in throughout the day from all the south facing windows. The main features of the space were simple: neutrals such as white and gray were chosen for paint and textiles, and the accent was the deep walnut woods in the space. Custom wood pieces were made to suit the kitchen and bathroom which added to the aesthetic of the apartment. Overall, the design achieved a warm and inviting environment while maintaining a minimalist living.
