Both study pathways are professionally accredited by the Institute of Hospitality (IoH). Your learning is underpinned by the research being undertaking by the Council for Hospitality Management (CHME), the Welsh Centre for Tourism Research (WCTR) and our academic staff.
We firmly believe in applying the theory into practice and we do this in a number of ways, including industrial work experience, work-based learning and our own on-site Hospitality Suite. You will benefit from the expertise of industry experts in live webinars, guest lectures and mentoring including; Red Carnation Hotels, Hilton International, Greenwich Country Club (USA), Gleneagles, the Dalata Hotel group,
BA (Hons)
Park Plaza Hotels, the Vale Resort & Spa, The Ivy restaurant group and the Exclusive Hotel Collection. Industrial work experience is at core of the degree. If taking the BA (Hons) International Hotel & Hospitality Management with Internship route the year- long placement may be undertaken in the UK or abroad. Past work experience destinations have included Silverstone Grand Prix, The Royal Crescent Hotel and Spa (Bath), Greenwich Country Club (USA), and the Scottish Golf Open.
Typical modules
You will study core management and hospitality specific modules, with a range of options to enable you to tailor the course to your specific interests and career ambitions. You will also have the option to study a language as part of your degree; French, Spanish or Mandarin, which can be carried through to the final year. Typical core modules might include:
• Practical Hotel and Hospitality Operations
• Hotel Operations, Tactics and Decision Making
• Sustainable Hotel and Hospitality Management in a Changing World
Your future
• The skills you will acquire will enable development into senior management positions in a relatively short period of time in a wide range of areas.
• These include employment in hotels, restaurants, clubs, bars, licensed retail management, conference and event management, personnel and marketing within hospitality – plus hospitality sections within the armed services, contract, health service and welfare catering.
• Past graduate destinations include Assistant Guest Services Manager at The Manor House (part of the Exclusive Collection) and Director of Revenue Management at The Peninsula London.
