Admissions and how to apply
Advice for applicants
To help guide you through making an application to study with us, we have put together our ‘Advice for Applicants’ web pages to help you identify the main things that you have to do throughout the application cycle – both before and after you make your UCAS application: www.cardiffmet.ac.uk/ advice4applicants
For any further information please contact Admissions:
Personal statements
This is a very important part of your UCAS application; it’s your chance to tell us what excites and motivates you, what your ambitions are, your transferable skills, about research you’ve done and your experiences. Make sure it’s your personal statement but ask a teacher, friend or parent to proofread it; there’s nothing worse than seeing spelling mistakes.
Visit: www.ucas.com/personalstatement for help and guidance.
How and when you will hear about the status of your application
You can view the status of your application online at any time by visiting UCAS Hub at www.ucas.com/hub
Application dates & deadlines
You can make an application from September through ucas.com.
Make sure you check with our Admissions team to see if there is a specific deadline for your chosen course.
Full instructions are detailed online, and help is available at: www.ucas.com/apply
Cardiff Met accepts deferred applications for most courses, please contact Admissions to confirm this is the case for the course you are interested in.
We will also be in touch via email from the moment you apply and throughout every step of the application cycle. Helpful advice and reminders will be sent right up until you start the course in September.
Applicant Days
As part of your applicant experience and to help you make an informed decision about choosing to study with us, most of our courses will hold Applicant Days to give you a taste of what life studying a degree at Cardiff is really like.
Applicant Days are typically different to Open Days and are focused on providing a more in depth and some cases practical experience of your degree. You will be emailed with further details if this applies to the course you have applied for.

Interviews
Several of our undergraduate degrees will involve an interview as part of the application process. This may be due to professional requirements or the need to discuss your application in more detail and present a body of work (e.g., a portfolio for art and design degrees).
If you apply for a degree that requires an interview, you will receive an email with your invitation. The date and time of your interview will also be on UCAS Hub for you. Interviews may take place in person or online depending on the course.

Entry requirements differ from course to course. The University values both work experience and academic qualifications and will consider students from a wide range of academic backgrounds. Each course page within this prospectus will give an indication of the UCAS tariff points accepted for each programme along with any specific requirements.

International applicants International Applicants are welcome to apply to us via UCAS, however can also apply direct to the University for free if not looking at other institutions in the UK.

For guidance on entry requirements for your country and accepted English language qualifications, please check our country specific information page at: www.cardiffmet.ac.uk/international

Contextualised policy
Cardiff Met uses contextualised admissions in order to build a more rounded view of our applicants achievements and potential. We operate a contextualised offer scheme considering several contextual indicators and will make a reduced offer when applicants meet these indicators. There is no need to apply for a contextualised offer as information provided as part of your UCAS application will be considered, but it is important that this is completed fully. Further information can be found at www.cardiffmet.ac.uk/ contextual-admissions
