We are accredited by the Institute of Hospitality the professional body for aspiring managers working and studying in events, hospitality, leisure and tourism; a proud partner of ‘The Power of Events’ and a member of the Association for Events Management Education (AEME).

The degree will provide you with a thorough understanding of the key concepts of events management alongside the opportunity to develop a series of transferable skills. You will become an expert in the techniques, specialisms and issues involved in staging events, from creative aspects of event design and theming, to staging and production, marketing and promotion, project management, safety and licensing, impact evaluation and sustainability, strategic management, finances and other critical industry issues. You will be empowered to make a real difference by developing your knowledge and application of ethical practices creating fairer and more sustainable ways of working and encouraging diversity and inclusion at every level of society.

We work with several local events management companies, organisations and venues including ICC Wales, Principality Stadium, Welsh Millennium Centre, the Depot, National Museum of Wales and you will have the opportunity to conduct live projects with industry to gain practical experience in your third year.

You will have the opportunity to undertake work experience in your second year and the option to take a year-long placement. We have ongoing partnerships with Yummy Jobs (Disney) and Greenwich Country Club and past placements have included Hewlett Packard (Global Events), Cancer Research UK (events and fundraising) and Ironman (events internship).

Typical modules

The first year will introduce you to the key concepts in business and events management. Your second year of study builds on your existing knowledge base and progress into more specialist areas of events management; and in your final year you can tailor the degree based on your interests and career aspirations. Typical core modules might include:

• Our graduates have secured employment in a range of organisations from international venues and events companies, to hotel chains and tour operators, major sponsors and sporting events, to local authorities and charities at organisations such as The Telegraph, Cancer Research UK and The Royal Mint.

• The course provides entry on to a wide range of taught and research postgraduate courses within the University.
