Student Services
Student Services is here to support you during your studies, helping you reach your full potential regardless of any challenges you may face. Our specialist staff offer impartial and confidential advice and support on money, wellbeing, disability, dyslexia and specialist learning support.

i-zone
Our i-zone staff are available throughout the year to help you with any non-academic queries. They can provide information on a wide range of topics and will be able refer you on to the most appropriate service for your needs. They are also the place to go if you want to find out more about Student Services and access more support.
Student Wellbeing
The Wellbeing Team offers a range of support for students with disabilities, specific learning difficulties (SpLD, including dyslexia), neurodiversity and mental health. We pride ourselves on making our services and your studies accessible. A disability or mental health condition is no barrier to success at Cardiff Met, so we look forward to meeting you.

Disability Support
If you have a disability, our advisors will work with you to develop a support package that addresses the particular challenges you may encounter during your studies. We will help to identify your support needs and any reasonable adjustments you may require, as well as providing you with access to further resources. We offer support for a range of conditions, giving you the confidence that during your time at Cardiff Met you will always be supported.

Mental Health and Wellbeing
Starting university can be a challenging time for anyone. Here at Cardiff Met our specialist staff can provide you with the tools and resources that will make your transition easier. We are committed to removing the stigma around mental health and aim to create an environment where everyone can thrive regardless of barriers. After students have expressed a need for our services they will then have access to a range of support including a Wellbeing Adviser, confidential 1:1 counselling, group wellbeing sessions, access to specialist resource, and more.
Money Advice and Welfare
At Cardiff Met we understand the value of managing your money. We provide expert advice on all your money concerns such as sources of financial support, loans and grants, budgeting, or any other financial problems that may affect your studies. Our advisors also provide support for students who are leaving care, have caring responsibilities themselves, or are estranged from their families in any other way.
Learning Support
Students may face many barriers while studying with us. The Learning Support team provide 1-1 specialist tutor and mentor appointments, resources, workshops and tailored learning materials to help you overcome any barriers you may face. We aim to help students develop the skills and strategies needed to overcome any study challenges, such as adjusting to university study and workload planning.
You may be referred by Student Wellbeing to apply for Disabled Student’s Allowance to cover the costs of support for a mental health problem, long term illness or any other disability. Our Disability Needs Assessment Centre is available to discuss the impact of any health conditions and what support would be helpful for you. This can include equipment, software, 1-1 support and travel costs.

Centre for Entrepreneurship
Whether you're interested in starting a business, freelancing or being your own boss, the Centre for Entrepreneurship can help. We are confident in your ability to make a difference and are dedicated to helping you.
We work with students and graduates from a wide range of disciplines including Sport, Health Sciences, Art and Design, Technologies and Business and Management. Throughout the year we run a packed programme of activities for students and graduates, from informal networking events and funding competitions, to workshops and courses that will help you to develop a range of entrepreneurial skills.
We also offer one-to-one support for student and graduate start-up businesses. Our dedicated team of Business Advisors and Mentors are available to guide you through the steps you need to take to start your own business.
We are constantly developing new events and activities to help support our students and graduates, including test-trading opportunities and experiential learning activities. Increasingly, we’re aiming to provide opportunities for students to develop their entrepreneurial skills and mindsets regardless of whether they plan to start a business.
This can include social enterprise societies, live projects with local small businesses and supporting worthwhile causes via enterprising activities.
Our start-up incubator provides students and graduates with a co-working space, access to our accelerator programme and a safe zone to share and test ideas.

Careers Service
From the day you arrive at Cardiff Met, you will have access to a wide range of services designed to enhance your employability skills and improve your future prospects.
Our support is available all year round via a blend of on-campus and online services. We also offer support for graduates for up to three years after graduation. For those who face additional barriers to skills development and employment, you can benefit from specialist career coaching


Our team provides impartial, professional careers advice tailored to your specific needs. We can help with all stages of your career journey, helping you to decide what you want to do, find opportunities to build your skills and experience, and apply for jobs and further study. Our Careers Consultants will be a regular feature during your course, providing timely career education specific to your programme. All students have access to our skills development initiative, Shape Your Future. Here you can assess your skillslevel against the most in-demand skills from employers and access a range of resources and opportunities to upskill and prepare yourself for the future.
Working with local, regional and national employers, we provide a wide range of in person and online workshops, webinars and fairs. All these activities enable you to get in front of employers and have the best opportunity to secure your first job once you have finished studying with us.
