This is the capital of early mornings. Of team sheets and tactical masterclasses. The capital of goalmouth scrambles, of thirty-yarders, of diving right in at the deep end. Of last-minute winners, of world class competition, of fighting your way to the tryline inch by glorious inch. The capital of sporting excellence, of a team greater than the sum of its parts, with big hearts all pounding as one.

Sport for all

At Cardiff Met we offer all students access to first-class sports facilities and opportunities for participation in a wide range of sport and recreation activities.

Facilities

The University offers a sporting environment that will support you to excel and perform at the highest level in your chosen sport, or to keep fit and play for fun. Facilities include a brandnew multi-purpose sports arena, cutting-edge strength, conditioning and sport science facilities, fully inclusive fitness centres, a swimming pool, indoor tennis centre and stateof-the-art pitches for football, rugby and hockey. We are also home to the National Indoor Athletics Centre.

Health and Fitness

If you want to keep fit, you can do so by joining Met Active – the Sports & Fitness Membership scheme. A dedicated team organises various activities for all levels including the complete beginner who just wants to keep fit and have some fun. Fitness classes include boxercise, pilates, bootcamps and weightlifting.

Club Sport

From Aussie Rules to surfing, badminton to cheerleading, there are a range of recreational activities to meet the needs of all students, ensuring social, healthy and active participation opportunities for all.

Every year, university teams and individuals compete across British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) leagues, participating in a range of sports, where students have the opportunity to represent Cardiff Met against other Universities and Colleges each week. Cardiff Met University has over 50 competitive teams participating in BUCS on a weekly basis so there is plenty of opportunity to fulfil your competitive ambitions.

So, whether you want to take part in sport to compete against others and improve your performance, or if it’s to be social, make new friends and look after your own physical and mental well-being, we have opportunities and activities to meet your needs.
