A warm welcome to our guests from Keynsham LFC in the second round of the Vitality Women's F A cup.
It was always written in the stars that our Clubs would draw each other, infact Karen our club secretary was so convinced it would be Keynsham, JP thought she had received inside info! Anyway, so much so she won our little in house draw and is now the proud owner of a Club pin!
Last time we played here, (our back up 4G pitch) Laura O'Sullivan; our Number 1, was on International duty in Spain and Grace who is better known as one of our goal scoring forwards, played between the sticks for us, and proved in no uncertain terms that she could also have a future at the other end of the pitch! That was in the last round of this cup when we hosted Bridgwater from Tier 3 and Grace kept a clean sheet whilst her teammates put 4 in down the other end of the pitch
As I write this, I'm hoping that the weather on Sunday will be kind to us as our girls have done a fair bit of work this week visiting schools around the area to get a good crowd for both teams to play to, so fingers crossed and hopefully there will be a lot of noise from our supporters!

We also have two sets of mascots today, and we are happy to welcome Whitchurch under 9s and Fairwater Under 10s, I'm sure you will have a great time and enjoy the experience and get some photos and autographs after the game!
The weather in Cardiff hasn't been too good this week, so rather than risk having the game postponed at our grass pitch in Caerau, we booked this ground (which we use as our Tuesday training centre) just to be safe! The centre is a girls and women's football centre for 5 days a week and is used

by a number of clubs who share and manage the facility and learn good practise from each other both on and off the pitch. The project started about 18 months ago with just two evenings for girls and women, from aged 5 to women in their 60s, and of all abilities from beginners to elite players using the centre. We also have a Huddle, Dragons camp, Walking football, a Casual League, a LGBTQ centre and a junior League for girls up to 10 years of age playing/training here every week. We have also hosted Coach Education courses here and will shortly be holding a female referees course too. So girls and women can enjoy our sport on any level in a safe and welcoming centre and know that the Women's game always comes first here for 5 days a week. Our club is very much a part of the project, so if this is your first visit to the centre and you know of someone who would love to be part of the project or maybe you are a mum who would like to try football as a way of keeping fit and a social night/day out let us know! As one of our newbies said recently, 'I love this hour, it's my time, and for this hour I'm not just a mummy, I'm a footballer'! But back to todays match! Sit back and enjoy the talent on show today, and after the match, please feel free to mix with the players and follow our season on our social media sites.

We caught up with manager Jamie Philip and defender Hannah Mills ahead of the game today:-
JP, what are your thoughts ahead of the game today?

It's another game we need to win. We know them well and they know us well, we'll take things from the game against Maidenhead and we’ll continue to build on things week by week.

Hannah, Keynsham in the FA Cup, what we thinking?!
I'll be honest, i'm excited, it's going to be a great game. It's a local derby and there's lots of history between the two clubs, there'll be an amazing atmosphere and I think we'll get a great crowd at Ocean Park today. Let's show them what we can do but we won't be taking anything for granted.

We welcome today's mascots; Fairwater U10s and Whitchurch U12s

We heard from Adam Gadd; coach of Fairwater U10s who had this to say of the team:
This is our second season as a team going from strength to strength with an amazing team bond. There's no stopping these girls and every single one of them has their own unique character
They're great little footballers as well!
We wish both teams have an enjoyable day!
We're Fairwater under 10's girls

Our U13s game today was the last game in a sequence of games ready for league placement in divisions for our competitive season to start on 4th December. The game started off with Cardiff on the back foot from the start as we couldn't get our rhythm or momentum going partly due to players not being available, against a strong Dinas Powys team. Cardiff created a lot of chances on goal and as the half progressed you could see the effort from every player to try to put things right but still went in at half time 2 goals down.

Start of the 2nd half, what a change in a team, piled on the pressure straight away. As the passes started to flow, timing of tackles increased and team play started to connect so the players confidence grew. The pressure started to reap rewards and a screamer of a shot and goal by Seren was the result of a great passage of play. Dinas Powys backs were now against the wall but they never gave up battling and we had to work hard to get an equaliser, which we did when Renee finished off a lovely flowing passage of passing to score and make it 2 2. After we scored our second goal, the play was end to end and great battles took place all over the field. Just when we thought it was going to be a draw between the two sides, a moment of switching off allowed Dinas to score the winner on literally the last kick of the game. This game was definately a game of two halves for Cardiff and although it didn't go our way today, lots of positives for the turnaround of the second half performance which was fantastic to watch.

Cardiff City Ladies FC release their unique "Adopt a Dragon from our Club" scheme.
We are pleased to invite any local club to be part of our "Adpt a Dragon" scheme for the current season.
At no cost to your club other than malking at least one visit to a home game you can adopt one of our senior players as your dragon who will follow your club's results and encourage your players on your club's media sites and follow your results throughout the season.
Your adopted Dragon will also make themselves available for photographs with your players at our matches, sign autographs and if available will attend a training evening during the season, and your end of season awards evening,.
It's easy to adopt a dragon!
Just contact our club secretary Karen Jones to advise us that you will be attending a game and that you would like to adopt a dragon. We will then tell you who is available (and will try to match a dragon from your club's area and where they live so they will be fairly local to you where possible). After your first visit you are free to attend as many games as you wish and your dragon will be on hand. Kids under 16 will go in free and adults will pay at the gate. And there’s more!
Our dragons normally move around in groups! So you may find that in addition to your adopted dragon a second one comes too!

Our next few home games are as follows:
Sunday 8th January vs St Austell Ladies - Caerau FC - Kick off 2pm
Sunday 29th January vs Swindon Town Caerau FC Kick off 2pm
Just drop an email to our club secretary Karen Jones: karenj2k@yahoo.co.uk, tell us the name of your club and their age group and the area you play and train.

They continued playing six a side for about three years, before attracting additional players to enable them to start playing occasional eleven a side friendlies They changed their name to 'Protel Super Strikers' after sponsorship from a local Telecom company, Protel.
