literacy, CAPSU Burias Library commemorated the 31st Library and Information Service Month as well as participated in the 87th National Book Week with Caption the theme here "OUTcomes.

OUTreach. OUTstanding: Libraries Beyond Boundaries” from November 24 to 30, 2021.

National Book Week, a proclamation issued in 1934 and amended in 1936, highlights not only a celebration, but also a way to encourage Filipinos to read, and today, as the pandemic halted the journey of human lives, CAPSU Burias Library, spearheaded by college librarian Mrs. Jastin Babilondo-Villas, continuously find ways to create an engaging book week experience.

“This year’s celebration focuses on our libraries’ vision of working beyond boundaries with our stakeholders to encourage and develop more interest in the love of reading and excitement for books as a fun and enjoyable way to spend quality time with our family members and achieve lifelong learning skills,” Mrs. Villas said.

The activities for the two events, which included Spoken Word Contest and Cutest/Memorable Photo in the Library were set up via an online platform and were joined by students, faculty, staff, and alumni of CAPSU Burias.

According to the librarian, they appreciated the effort of the students who gave their extra time and effort to participate in the activities they had prepared despite the burden of their education, outputs to pass on, and pursuits that they must be dealing with.

Cash, load rewards, and certificates were placed in line to encourage additional participants and among the students who took part in the Cutest/Memorable Photo in the Library, Myra Obrique, a third year BSABE student won the first prize; the second prize was bagged by the Supreme Student Council (SSC), one of the major organizations of the university; and the third prize was given to Honey Lee Longares, a fourth year student from BSABE. Conversely, Jenebe Torreblanca, a fourth year BSABE student too, was awarded as the winner in the Spoken Word Contest.

Mrs. Villas further revealed that, “The support of the students in the library and their engagement in our activities inspire us more to stay connected, especially in this new normal of learning.”

College of Management highlights students in 2022 Management Week

College of Management opens Management Week through a virtual celebration on February 28, 2022.

Mr. Josua Manalansan (Red Team) and Ms. Rosa Llaver (Pink Team) were hailed as Mr. and Ms. Management 2022 respectively.

Mr. Louieniel Maximo (Blue Team) and Ms. Tricia De Jongoy (Red Team) bagged the first runners up award; and Mr. Carl Joven Jandayran (Blue Team) and Ms. Ronacel Llanera (Black Team) were named as second runners up.

Mr. Mark John Cornelio (Black Team) and Ms. Jenevieve Batican (Gray Team) were awardfed best in interviews while Mr. Manalansan and Ms. Llaver were adjudeged best in production number; and Mr. Maximo and Ms. Jongoy got the best in school uniforms award.

the eagerness to provide latest information and knowledge among the students, and at the same time expose their diverse skills and talents, the College of Management (CM) conducted its 2022 CM Week Celebration under the theme “Climate Management towards Sustainable Development”, which took place virtually on February 28 – March 03, 2022.

Spearheaded by MSO, JAMS, CPAS, and FMC organizations, the said event presented four different types of webinars given by experts, emphasizing their professional experiences and knowledge, and six contests that were participated by CM students.

During the closing program, Dr. Rosine O. Labado, College of Management Dean, expressed her appreciation for the support and efforts of all individuals involved that contributed to the success of the event.

BSABE department celebrates 3rd ABE Week

the theme, “Transforming ABE Technologies for Adequate and Sustainable Advancement in this Crisis Situation,” Capiz State University Burias Campus’ Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Biosystems Engineering carried out its third ABE Week Celebration last February 17-19, 2022 via Google Meet and Facebook Live.

To challenge and expose the knowledge and skills of BSABE students, contests including tractor parts identification, harvester parts identification, ABE Quiz Bee, essay writing contest, digital poster making contest, photography contest, video making contest, and Mess Agi-eng 2022 were initiated.

“Celebrating ABE week is one of the most awaited and memorable journeys of the Bayaw community. This event develops camaraderie and strengthens the bond of everyone amidst the crisis that we are facing right now,” Mr. Christian De Pablo, President of the PSABE-PPG Burias Chapter, stated when asked about the primary purpose of the said event.

Capsunians continue submitting and receiving modules

In continuation of the modular distance learning, Capsunians once again carried out their duties to pass and claim their self-learning modules on February 3-4, 2022 at CAPSU Burias Covered Gym. To mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 and to ensure the safety of all campus stakeholders, CAPSU Burias adopted the modular distance learning approach for its students.

The said module distribution and retrieval were the second run for the second semester of Academic Year 2021-2022.

As a routine, everyone was obliged to adhere to the minimum health standards, like checking of body temperature, wearing of face masks, proper queuing, and observing of social distancing.

Capsunians observe health protocols and wait turns to obtain and submit their modules for the second module distribution and retrieval of the 2 nd Semester (A. Y. 2021-2022).

Also, to avoid the crowding of students, modular distribution and retrieval time for each college department was scheduled accordingly.

With the support, help, and

assistance of the administrative staff, faculty members, and student-leaders of the campus, the second module distribution and retrieval were accomplished in accordance with the new normal set-up.

Grades are not just numbers as Mr. Gener proves it

Grades aren’t just numbers contradictory to the

what some believe. Grades are marks that will guide you in acquiring better opportunities, leaving numerical symbols that make things feasible. This was shown by Carlo John Gener, a new Gabay Guro Scholar who succeeded in being part of the list through his exemplary academic performance.

Gener is a freshman who is currently taking up Bachelor of Secondary of Education Major in Mathematics. He is eager to gain high grades to maintain the scholarship grant, which signifies that indeed, grades aren’t just numbers.

“The opportunity that was given to me helps me to be financially stable and for me to easily access education. It helps me in buying my educational needs, like a new phone, school supplies, etc., as well as in providing our daily needs,” he said in a virtual interview.

The scholar was filled with high hopes as he aspired to be one of the scholarship grantees.

He was a consistent honor student during his Junior and Senior High School years, but he was not expecting and did not feel like he was going to make it as he doubted himself and thought that he didn’t have other achievements that he can show off apart from being an academic achiever.

To those aspiring scholars, he advised that, “Our life is full of pain and sacrifices, but with God, we can do all things through Him, possibly.

Don’t stop dreaming until we reach our goals, but remember the Creator at all times and the people who helped you in achieving those.”

Truly, grades do matter. Gener is an epitome of this saying. Your grades are the manifestation of your hard work and perseverance. They will lead you to places where you want to be in.

of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF) department staged a virtual celebration of CAF week for 2022 with the underlying theme, "Innovating Agriculture In Virtual Era Through Youth Alliance."

Spanning from February 28 to March 2, the celebration dubbed as CAFiestahan featured multiple events designed for the enjoyment and enrichment of knowledge of all students and educators that were involved, with several keynote speakers who took turns in imparting their expertise regarding their respective fields to those in attendance, likewise allowing students to participate in the lectures as well.

The highlights of the virtual festival were the contests, which showcased the skills and abilities of the participating students.

The activities include TikTok dance challenge, Spoken Poetry contest, Vocal Solo competition, Poster Making contest, CAF Quiz Bee, and search for The Next CAF Model.

The festival did not only succeed in fulfilling the chosen theme but also displaying the talents of CAF students, while taking advantage of technology, as well as in promoting solidarity amidst limited face to face contact.
