Little Lion is smaller than a cherry, but bigger than a grain of rice. Little Lion is a tiny treasure! Mum says I shouldn't love something so tiny, because small things can easily get lost. That I should leave Little Lion at home when we leave the house. But Little Lion fits perfectly inside my mitten!
All day Little Lion is with me: in the pocket of my jacket, on our way to kindergarten and on the bus. But suddenly Little Lion is gone. The days become gray and sad, and everything feels meaningless without Little Lion. But one day on our way to the bus Mum finds Little Lion on the ground! Thankfully! But, when Little Lion once more disappears, down the sink this time, it is gone forever. One would think it would be easier to lose something a second time, but that's not true. It was only Little Lion who wanted to say goodbye before leaving for good. Where did Little Lion swim off to? It can be anywhere. But Little Lion still lives on in my heart and my thoughts.
Anna Fiske has made a touching and insightful picture book about how tender, and also beautiful, it is to be a child and love a toy. Through exceptional illustrations and a simple, yet powerful story, she takes us on a journey through loss, hope and love.

When First Knight and Christmas Tree Chief Torkel Wobbletwig slips on the ice and possibly breaks his leg, Sir Rosenbush and Sir Bang spring into action. “We can go find a Christmas tree!” says Sir Bang. But the King is sceptical. Finding the perfect Christmas tree isn’t a job for just anyone. And this year, it’s especially important that the tree is EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA perfect, so he doesn’t become a laughing stock for the second year in a row. Last year’s tree was so crooked it ended up on YouTube!
“Knight Bang and I shall find the best Christmas tree in the world!” says Sir Rosenbush. “Trust us!” says Sir Bang.
So off they go, with a toboggan and a saw, up the steep hill and into the forest. Where something, perhaps the howling of wolves, can be heard in the night…

The goats attend the Christmas tree lighting. They eat gingerbread and talk to their friends, and everyone talks about Santa. But Santa has never visited the goats. Maybe he can’t find their home? Or doesn’t have the energy to walk up the steep hill? Or maybe it’s because the smallest goat is a little scared of Santa? No, probably not that.
But if they write their wish list and send it to Santa, THEN maybe he will come! As soon as they think it, they do it. What they want most of all is a sled with a steering wheel.
On Christmas Eve they eat dinner, they do the dishes – and they wait. And wait. Finally, the largest goat goes outside to get some firewood. Then FINALLY someone knocks on their door…

"Go away!" Borre says when Mini arrives at kindergarten. "There's no room for you. You're too small. You can't join us. Go away!" Borre’s voice is loud and strong. His words are like a tall fence, a closed door, a locked gate. The words bruise and break, crush and cut and clip.
But luckily, Mini has Grandpa. And Grandpa isn’t just Grandpa – he’s also a wizard. Because Grandpa can do magic with words and speak the language of wizards. "It’s important to find words that shine in the dark," says Grandpa. Because everyone needs words that open doors, and words that dare to ask for help. Words like hello, come in, join us, sorry. These are the bravest words we have.

I wake up lying on something big and lumpy that’s making waves. For a second, I wonder if I’m out at sea because everything underneath me is black and blue. But I can’t smell any saltwater here. What I can smell is vanilla with a hint of liquorice. That’s when I realize I’m lying on an ginormous duvet. And beneath the duvet a giant girl lies snoring. She must be at least ten metres tall and probably weighs a ton. Her hand is enormous.
when I put my hand on hers the sight of it makes me jump. I don’t have a hand any more – I have a paw! A white paw.
I look down at my body.
It’s covered in fur.
Thick black fur.
Apart from my belly and chest and paws. They’re covered in white fur.
I spin around and land on the floor with a crash. Hang on, no – I land on all fours without even thinking about it. This body I’ve ended up in seems to have a will of its own.
I look round.
There’s no one else here apart from me and the giant girl. The room feels familiar even though it’s enormous. It reminds me of my room, only a hundred times bigger.
I creep carefully over to the pile of furniture that’s blocking the door. I slip behind the desk and over to the mirror. When I see my reflection, I start to scream, but the only noise that comes out of my muzzle is ‘Meeeeoooww!’
I’ve turned into Kitty.
There’s no doubt about it.
But how the heck did it happen?

Would you rather send a dickpic to your mum (on accident!) or spend the whole day offline?
Jonas is head-over-heels for Manuela, the new girl at school. But he has zero experience with girls – and even less of a clue about how to get their attention. Then he overhears some classmates talking about how effective sending dick pics can be. Desperate and wildly misguided, Jonas decides to give it a try. But taking a decent pic turns out to be harder than expected – bad lighting, awkward angles, hiding behind a curtain so no one sees him... and then, disaster: he sends it to the wrong person. Not just anyone – he sends it to his mum.
It's already the worst thing that’s ever happened to Jonas. But then it gets worse: his phone is confiscated for the rest of the day. No scrolling, no games, no chats. Just a full Saturday – offline. With Brutus. His weirdest friend.
What do people even do without a screen? Go outside? Play hide-and-seek? Ding dong ditch? Steal apples? One disaster leads to another… until, a miracle happens.
This outrageous, laugh-out-loud novel takes place over the course of a single day. A day full of poor choices, absurd moments, and one unforgettable miracle.

Noh sells cigarettes in the school playground. He gets into fights. He skips class and mouths off. The older boys want nothing to do with him, no matter how hard he tries to impress them. Deep down, he’s just a teenage boy trying to find his place— between two cultures, in a town that doesn’t understand him, and in a school system that’s already labelled him a problem.
After one incident too many, Noh is forced into ART—Anger Regression Therapy—a program meant to “fix” his behaviour. His therapist, Lars, thinks a few group sessions will teach Noh to control his temper. But Noh’s not angry for no reason. He’s angry at the racism, the double standards, the impossible expectations at home. And he’s angry that no one seems to be listening.
Between joint-smoking sessions with his best friend Behzad, awkward crushes, run-ins with older boys, and constant power struggles with adults, Noh is stuck navigating a life where he never quite belongs. He’s smart. He’s funny. And he sees through the bullshit—all of it.
Angry Youth is a raw, darkly funny, and brutally honest coming-of-age novel about growing up between cultures, being seen as a threat before being understood, and trying to hold onto yourself in a world that keeps pushing you out.

A spectator who is also a player, or a player who is really just a spectator. Today is the final match of the season, against the bullies from Cement—a team to fear, a match to dread.
Omar has kept his status as a mostly unused substitute a secret from his parents. They believe that Omar is a regular on the team and always involved in the game. But that secret is about to unravel on the last day of the season. And father and son will come to see each other in a new light.
One for the Team is a small but meaningful story about youth football and the philosophy of the substitute. It’s touching, funny, and occasionally tender, especially for those of us who have, at some point, warmed the bench. And for those still warming it today.

Religious control and women's fight for freedom – an important book for young readers
Born Free is a fascinating and thoughtprovoking graphic novel about the impact religion has had, and continues to have, on women's freedom. It explores how religious practices have restricted women’s rights and shaped their lives across different cultures and societies.
In the wake of the women-led uprising in Iran and the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan, religious control over women’s lives has become more visible than it has been in decades. Acclaimed feminist and author Marta Breen places these current events in a broader historical and global context, showing how religious fundamentalism continues to threaten women’s rights even in Western societies.
Based on thorough research, Born Free tackles topics such as forced marriage, education bans, dress codes, and female genital mutilation in a respectful yet direct manner. The book’s core message is clear: everyone has the right to decide over their own life, while also respecting freedom of religion, as long as it does not violate basic human rights.
This is a vital book that encourages reflection and conversation about the role of religion in society and the position of women within the world’s faiths.
