DREAMING OF SAND, SURF, AND SANTA As the holiday season approaches, Club Members are busy planning their winter escapes. For those seeking a perfect blend of sun, sand, and seasonal festivities while remaining stateside, Daytona Beach, Florida and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina offer the ideal destinations. These coastal gems beckon to be the holiday playground with a wide range of family-friendly activities, and a holiday experience like no other. We’ve asked our local resort staff for holiday recommendations for each coastal destination. DAYTONA BEACH Craving a break from winter weather? With its mild winter temperatures and array of activities, Daytona Beach is an attractive option for families looking to escape the harsh cold. Besides the beach, there are lots of options to keep family members of all ages from getting bored.
Beach Fun: Of course, the main attraction of Daytona Beach is its stunning coastline. While swimming may not be an option in the winter, the beach is perfect for long walks, beachcombing, and building sandcastles with your little ones.
Light Up Volusia: Located in nearby DeLand, the Light Up Volusia event is a dazzling display of holiday lights, complete with a tree lighting ceremony, live music, and holiday cheer. The kids will love meeting Santa Claus and his reindeer, making it an ideal family outing.
Daytona Ice Arena: Experience a winter wonderland at the Daytona Ice Arena, open year-round. The Ice Arena welcomes all skill levels, from experienced to novices needing to take lessons. Ice skating is truly a holiday tradition.

MEET BEVERLY & THOMAS ROUSH Gifting Family Vacations Through Their Club Membership For more than two decades, Beverly and Thomas Roush have enjoyed the benefits of independent timeshare. Their journey began in 2002 when they joined the Surrey Townhomes Travel Club, followed by ownership at Grand Crowne Resorts in 2009. In 2021, they elevated their membership by becoming platinum members of Capital Vacations Club. “We travel with family. There’s something about seeing all of them have fun, watching their faces. We like to give the gift of vacations by gifting our points to our son and daughter,” Beverly Roush explained. “We plan to leave the points to our kids so they can continue our tradition of family vacations.” Some of their favorite family vacations have been celebrating the holidays at a Club resort such as Lodges at Table Rock and Stormy Point Village. Each time, adding their personal touches with holiday decorations.
“We love the kitchens so we can prep family meals and it feels like home,” said Beverly. “We even have a coffee and hot chocolate bar for everyone to enjoy.” Tom highlighted their enjoyment of extended family trips, inviting relatives to experience Club vacations firsthand. “I can’t get around like I used to so we just modify the logistics to fit in as much as we can when we travel,” Beverly shared. “It was a lot of fun and we got to see a lot of things.”
“By vacationing with us, they get to see how it all works. If they like it, they can join themselves,” Tom said. While their family travels have traditionally centered around Branson, they’ve explored Club destinations in Pigeon Forge, TN; Myrtle Beach, SC; and Kissimmee, Florida. Beverly stressed their delight in ticking off travel destinations from their bucket list, leveraging Club membership to explore various places using Lifestyles+.
The Roushes said they’ve enjoyed experiencing all of the benefits of Club membership and Lifestyles+. And look forward to visiting some of the destinations remaining on their bucket list: Turks/Caicos; St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Ireland, and Disney. “We’d like to take the grankids to Disney.”
“I love going to different places, eating their local food and enjoying their culture,” Tom said. “I’m willing to try anything, well almost.” In 2023, the Roushes traveled to London and enjoyed exploring the city and marking items off their bucket list. When traveling in London, Beverly said they used the public transportation system, Uber and several travel APPs that assisted in navigating the city.
Beverly shared: “I wish more owners could figure out how timeshare works and make it work for them. You have to spend time on the Club websites, read everything, keep updated on the changes. I spend so much time going through everything and that’s helped us truly enjoy all of CONTINUED the Club benefits.”

TRAVEL SAVVINESS IS A PROCESS BORN OF MISSED BUSES, FOOLISH BEHAVIOR, CULTURAL UNAWARENESS, AND COUNTLESS TINY ERRORS. THEN, ONE DAY, YOU BEGIN TO SEAMLESSLY MOVE THROUGH AIRPORTS AND INTEGRATE YOURSELF INTO NEW CULTURES LIKE A FISH TO WATER. TOM AND BEVERLY WANTED TO HELP CLUB MEMBERS AVOID MISTAKES AND DISAPPOINTMENTS, SO THEY OFFERED TO SHARE A FEW OF THEIR TRAVEL TIPS FOR DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL.

Confirm Travel with Club Help Desk. One tip that Beverly has learned since joining the Club is to call earlier to confirm reservations and ask the Club Help Desk to assist in any travel hurdles.
Download Free Travel APPs. Free Citymapper App we used this app to get around London. We couldn’t have done everything we wanted to do without the use of this app. It shows where you should enter your mode of transportation, how long it takes to get there, what “tube” or bus to take and how long before it arrives, what section is the best to sit in, as well as lists all the stops along the way so you know when to get off your tube or bus. There is also a map so if you are walking you can get around with the map. You can also choose routes without stairs for those with mobility issues. Trip It app. This app helped me to organize where we wanted to go and keep track of our reservations. We found if there were certain restaurants we wanted to eat at, it was best to make reservations. In London, those with reservations get in and the rest of you have to wait in line (45 minutes was our wait) until those with reservations are done, then you get in. We did not go to all the locations I listed in Trip It but were able to go to all the major locations we wanted to visit. In other words, I had more on our agenda than we could do but I didn’t want us to run out of things to do. Prior to our departure from the U. S., I used the information from the Citymapper app about how long it takes to get someplace to plot out getting around in London. The time frames were pretty on target. I put the times in Trip It then so we could get to all the attractions we wanted to see and make our reservations. I even added how to get from one location to another in Trip It before we left the U.S. and wrote them in a very small notebook. It was a good thing I did as we couldn’t get the phone to open the Citymapper app the first day we arrived. Worked perfectly after that though.
Purchase an international sim card. We used Giff Gaff for purchasing a sim card prior to leaving the U.S. The sim card was free then we put the sim card in our cell phones when we arrived in London at the hotel. You decide on a plan at that time but it was cheap (like $35/month for unlimited text and talk). We did this to both phones just in case we got separated from each other (had that happen in Germany once). Last time we went to Germany, we ended up spending $300 using our Verizon plan for international calls. This was so much cheaper and really easy to do. Other than the Citymapper app not working the first day, we did not have any issues with the Giff Gaff sim cards. But we only had about an hour at the hotel to get the Giff Gaff card in the phone before we had to leave to go to Kensington Palace. It might have worked fine if I had allowed more time. Also, I would try turning the phone off and then restart it after getting the sim card in and plan determined. •••

Club Members access the new exchange site through the Capitalvacationsclub.com website. Once logged in to the Club website, Members click on Destinality and then Trading Places to learn about exchange travel and how to get the most value from your ownership. Click “Visit Trading Places” to navigate to the new Trading Places Club exchange site.
Once on the exchange site, Club Members can:
All Deposits and Reservations Transferred Successfully
1. Access Account information, including deposited points, reservation history, and account profile. 2. Search Availability in real time. 3. Deposit points. 4. Access Hot Deals, discounted 7-night rentals at Direct Booking Partner Resorts.
The new Trading Places Club exchange website will reflect any previous deposits and existing vacation reservations accessed on the former site. Club Members will be able to see the most up-to-date account information on the new exchange website.

Enhanced Availability Search There are three ways Club Members can search availability on the new exchange site: by interactive map; location filters; and zip code. Club Members simply enter a date range and click search.

The new search map displays all resorts around the world with availability and lets Club members explore individual resorts and their availability directly from the map. Club Members can check availability for specific dates and number of travelers. Trading Places reservations may then be booked directly online.

Hot Deals With the new exchange site launch, Capital Vacations is introducing ‘Hot Deals’ as a new benefit for Club Members. Book an unlimited number of highly discounted 7-night vacation rentals. Sourced from Capital Vacations’ Direct Booking Partners, Hot Deals’ getaways include peak season inventory and range from $299—$1,999 per week, and no points needed.

TROPIC SUN TOWERS Ormond Beach, FL ATLANTIC TERRACE RESORT Daytona Beach Shores, FL New Awning Installed in September!!! We love the new awning with the beautiful new logo! The old fabric was about 15 years old and the replacement was way overdue. Seawall Construction Update The seawall construction started in October. The new seawall will be constructed in front of the existing wall and should be completed by year end. Then, the beach stairwell will be installed. The new jacuzzi permitting process will begin in January. Atlantic Terrace says, weather permitting, the entire project should be completed by March 31, 2024.
On November 10th, 2022, Hurricane Nicole hit the Daytona area. Tropic Sun Towers’ seawall and pool deck area were destroyed. The board hired an engineer to conduct a study and make recommendations. The Resort hired a seawall contractor. The seawall work began in April, before turtle season, and was completed in October. Next up is the removal of the hot tub, installation of a new bigger 10x10 hot tub. The fixing of the pool and bringing it up to current codes. The emergency permits have expired resulting in new permits needing to be issued. The new permits are requiring the resort to have a special survey needed for the DEP to bless the remaining work. Plus, we’re in the process of Phase II painting and concrete work on the exterior of the resort. New colors are Snowbound and Ebb Tide.

GRAND CROWNE RESORT Branson, MO Construction began on Grand Crowne Resort’s much awaited Clubhouse and Amenity Center, in May 2023. Proudly provided by Capital Vacations, the new Clubhouse and Amenity Center will include a reception area with check-in; restaurant and lounge; fitness center; outdoor aquatic center; indoor/ outdoor living spaces and outdoor play area. Capital Vacations will host a grand opening celebration when the center opens in 2024. Pictured below are a few photos on the progress to date.

Seasons Greetings! It’s never been a better time to be a member of the Capital Vacations Club. In our ongoing commitment to enhancing your travel experiences, we’ve added Club resort destinations and launched new benefits with Trading Places Club (article on page 25). Members love the Moments to Memories vacation packages, especially getting to meet fellow Club members at the special events. We are planning even more Moments to Memories vacation packages in 2024 – be on the lookout for Club emails. Plus, check out the article on our new luxury homes collection (article on page 27). I’m truly excited about all the benefits available for our Club Members with more value for your points. More Club Destinations. In 2023, we added 30 new resorts as Club destinations. Now, there are more 90+ Club resorts for you to enjoy. Exclusive Vacation Packages. These are a few photos from our Moments to Memories cruise in August. Club Members enjoyed the time together aboard the ship and the ports of call. In 2024, we have two Moments to Memories cruises planned for spring.
In 2023, we enhanced owner services communication channels: 1. We launched Live Chat on the Capital Vacations Club website, which allows Club members to connect with a live agent in real time MondaySaturday. Weekday hours are 9 AM—6 PM (EST) and Saturday from 9 AM—5:30 PM (EST). 2. We expanded our call center in the greater Orlando area. We invite any Club members vacationing in Orlando to visit us at our new call center location. 3. We encourage you to attend an upcoming owner workshop; these workshops provide an in-depth understanding of Vacation Club benefits and navigating your resources. If you’re unable to attend in person, our Club Specialists can train you virtually in the comfort of your own home. Our dedicated team of Vacation Specialists stand ready to provide personalized assistance and guidance through every step of your vacation planning process. I have been with Capital Vacations since August 2022. After training as an Owner Services Representative, I began with the Customer Service Department. Currently I am enjoying implementing a new work system called LiveVOX Ticketing.
I’ve worked as an Owner Services Trainer for 9 months.
Name something people would never guess you do in your role. As a former educator, I consistently try to help support owners and colleagues in finding more effective ways to view the situation and try to find a resolution that’s a win-win. What do you like most about working with our Owners or at Capital Vacations? Personalities! It’s always interesting having a conversation with owners from around the USA, finding out about where they live and the destinations they like to travel.
Name something people would never guess you do in your role. Creating memories not only by sending owners on vacation but by providing a customer services experience that makes our owners want to continue to travel by booking with me. What do you like most about working with our Owners or at Capital Vacations? I most enjoy the moments where I get to change perspectives, when one of our owner calls upset and they get me on the phone I always do my best to turn any situation around. I enjoy it when I get to make someone’s day better. What makes you good at your job?
I’m patient and considerate. I came out of retirement because I enjoy working and being a contributor. I still had much to offer, and Capital Vacations gave me that opportunity.
I am motivated by education, meaning I like to be constantly learning. I enjoy opportunities that help me achieve that. If I don’t know something, I will search for it. I believe one of the things that makes me good at my job is how relentless I am to always gain the best out of any situation.

I had the pleasure of traveling and working in many parts of the country with my previous career. After 30 years of being a “road warrior”, I’ve retired my suitcase and enjoy digging in the dirt and planting flowers and vegetables.
In my career, it is growth. My passion in every opportunity is always gaining enough knowledge and experience to continue to grow in ways that will allow me to keep moving forward and constantly add to the best version of myself.
