STUDENT SPOTLIGHT Student of the Month: Chandler Searcy Chandler Searcy is a sophomore honors marketing major, photography minor from Atlanta Georgia. In his short time at Howard, he has interned at Capitol One on their CreditWise team as part of their early intern program, for NBC and Telemundo live at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and he has served as sophomore class representative and social media co-chair for SBEL. He also has interned at LightHouse Investment partners. Outside of school Chandler loves golfing and is excellent at graphic design. He also updated the SBEL website this year!

New Student Spotlight: Ezinne Kalu Ezinne Kalu is a freshman honors information systems major from the Bay Area, CA by way of Nigeria. Regarding her experience at Howard thus far, she says, "Coming from a PWI, my experience at Howard has really great! Howard was my dream school for so long and now that I’m here I intend to make it as memorable as possible. So far I’ve become a freshman class representative, a business orientation team member of the month in September and now I’m new student of the month. Y’all sweet enough to make a grown man cry!

Everyday at the school is a new adventure and I love my SBEL class so much.

I cannot wait to see what we all accomplish this year and all the years to come!"

Senior Spotlight: Bryanna Gabriel Bryanna Gabriel is a senior honors finance major from Newark, NJ. In her time at Howard, she has had the roles of Inaugural JPMorgan Chase Advancing Black Pathways Apprentice (2019), ELC Nationwide Scholar (2020), JPMorgan Investment Banking Summer Analyst (2021). Regarding her career, she says, "I will be starting my career as an Investment Banking analyst on the Power & Renewables team at JPMorgan in New York City. My passion for helping my community can also be seen through my work with Newark’s Promise, which is a program I co-founded to help the youth of my hometown, Newark, New Jersey. As I reflect on my Howard and SBEL experience with graduation approaching next year, I am truly grateful for my village of family and friends that I have gained along the way."

BEST OF SBEL FALL RETREAT

The SBEL fall retreat is one of the most important programs we have each year. It serves as an opportunity for our corporate sponsors to have dedicated time with our students, as well as an opportunity for students across classes to build bonds! This year, our fall retreat was hosted

by Citi. We had the pleasure of participating in a fireside chat with Bolanle Oyesanye, Managing Director in Wealth Management and Financial Services, a panel with Citi leaders from Diversity and Inclusion and other areas of Citi, a discussion about leadership styles, and a pitch competition! It was a wonderful experience. Thank you to Howard alumna and Citi VP Sivona Blake and SBEL alumna and Citi Global Consumer Banking Analyst Briana Demming, as well as seniors DeJanna Newkirk and Crystal Fahie, who will be working for Citi full-time, for orchestrating this event!

NATIONAL BLACK MBA ASSOC. CASE COMPETITION This year's National Black MBA Association undergraduate case competition was about all about Subway! This year's team was made up of senior Brianna Davis, juniors Sanye Sichinga and Seti Vega, and sophomore Asha Abdullah. The team placed 3rd overall with Brianna earning best presenter and Sanye earning best Q&A Responder.

positions on the royal court as Mr. and Miss School of Business. They represent their peers and carry out platform initiatives to enrich the student experience in SOB. This year, two SBEL students competed: junior Colonel-Joshua Higgins and sophomore Jayla Thomas. They both performed exceptionally at the pageant, with Colonel-Joshua creating and performing in a live art showcase and Jayla performing an original song for the audience.

In the end, Jayla was crowned Miss SOB! We're so proud of both competitors and hope to see SBEL represented every year going forward.
