Santiam to host state play-in game By David Plotts, Santiam JR/SHS Principal Friday, February 28th at 7pm the Santiam Girls Basketball host Vernonia in the state play-in game at Santiam High School in Mill City. The winner of this game qualifies for the state tournament in Pendleton the following week. Let’s pack the place and make this a “Black Out” night by wearing black. I hope everyone can come out and cheer the girls on to state. Only OSAA passes and Oregon “Gold” cards are accepted. Prices are $6.00 adults and $4.00 students. Also remember that no artificial noise makers or signs bigger than 8 ½ x 11” are allowed. For more information go onto the OSAA website, click under activities, girls basketball, brackets, and a complete list of teams in the state play-in games is listed and who and where each team would be seeded if they qualify for the finals in Pendleton. Come out and watch some great action.

The Santiam Wolverines wrestling team placing 3rd overall at the district competition on February 22 at Culver High School. Four wrestlers also qualified for next week’s state meet: Robin Archer placed 1st at 120 lbs, Jose Eugenio placed 2nd at 285 lbs, Killian Gregg placed 1st at 220
lbs, and Cody Quintan placed 2nd at 182 lbs. “Congratulations to the wrestling team,” said Principal David Plotts. “And congratulations to Coach Crowston and JJ Jensen for their job working with the team this year. Great job.” District results - 120 lb: 1st
