Garden of Giving is clean and ready

The Garden of Giving opened with great success on April 15, with the big Spring clean-up of the gardens, and the planting of many onion sets. The vertical planters were filled with soil and planted with three types of lettuce. The Garden wants to thank all the volunteers who joined in to get the season started. Things are on the move.

Mark your calendar for the next big weekend of May 2021, when 2,600 seedlings will be ready for planting. Hours will be 9:30 to 4:30 p.m., with lunch provided. Sunscreen, water and planting supplies will all be ready for the volunteers. Enjoy a nice lunch break in one of the two new pavillions.

Your help is appreciated, whether you stay for the day, an afternoon, or just an hour or so. Everyone is invited to stop by to see all that’s new this year, from the new raised beds, and vertical planters, to the pavillions.

Starting Tuesday, June 13, the Garden will be open for volunteers from Tuesday through Saturday, 9:30 to 12:30. Sundays are available by appointment for Scouts and other groups.

If being indoors is more comfortable for you, the office is looking for a helper, one day a week for about four hours. Help is needed for filing, organizing and correspondence. More board members are also needed. If you are able to apply for grants, to request funds to help keep the Garden running, you would be a blessing. No experience is required, just an organized person who can express themselves in writing, to explain how very special the Garden is to our community. Contact the Garden of Giving by phone at 570402-1282 or by email: GardenOfGiving1@gmail.com. Check out the Facebook page for news, or visit the website: www.GardenofGiving. org.

The Garden is located off Route 715 in McMichaels, at 2556 Rising Hill Dr, Saylorsburg.
