With the success of this year’s fireworks day at the township park, Penn Forest Township supervisors, at their regular monthly meeting on August 5, agreed to provide the park and recreation committee $1,000 towards 2024’s event, with thoughts of turning it into a day-long festival. The committee was also provided with $500 for candy and supplies for the Trunk-or-Treat event on October 29, and $500 towards decorations for the Christmas Tree Lighting event on November 25. The park will host the Jim Thorpe Cross Country team on Mondays and Thursdays from August 14 to September 28. The concession stand at the park will have rain gutters installed, at a cost of $1,400.
