On the agenda for this Wednesday’s Weatherly Area School Board meeting is a decision to “recommend the Board approve the resignation of Teresa L. Young [as] Superintendent, effective November 7, 2021.” Young was hired to be superintendent for Weatherly Area in March of 2017, after a three month-long search. She was chosen from among 11 applicants. She replaced Thomas McLaughlin, who had left to become the human resources director at the Palmerton Area School District. She came to Weatherly Area after working in the Harmony Area School District, near La Jose, PA, for 19 years. That district is about 184 miles west of Weatherly, just over 30 miles northwest of Altoona. Attempts to reach Superintendent Young on Tuesday were not successful. No further information was available at press time.
