In Memoriam

DENNIS, MAY In loving memory of my dear wife, May Dennis. Who passed away on May 21 2007, To be forever with the Lord. Sadly missed by her Loving husband Lorne. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes, there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying, there shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. - Revelation 21:4 I know there is a land of beautiful flowers, Where we will meet again when life is o’er, Where we will while away the endless hours, On Heaven’s bright eternal shore. On Heaven’s golden strand there’ll be no more dying, No chilling winds or tempest e’er will blow, It is a land of love and wondrous beauty, Where the fragrant flowers ever grow. I want to meet you by that beautiful river, On that eternal morning in the sky, Where we will live in peace through endless ages, Where we will never say good bye.

BRIGHTON, Richard ' Dick' Passed away peacefully at the age of 58 with a smile on his face, surrounded by family and friends. He is pre-deceased by his parents Mary and Leonard. Forever loved by his wife Cathy, daughters Cara and Laura, son Ben, sister Jenny, his dog Nelly, and the rest of his loving family and friends. He was born in Peterborough England and immigrated to Canada in 1973. He was known for his constant smile, eternal optimism and high E.Q. Over the past two years he showed us how the human spirit could defy medical expectations and despite his declining health and everyone’s disbelief, last September he did the Bowron Lakes trip with Cathy and good friends. He could always find humour in any situation and had an unwillingness to quit. As a professional engineer, he worked for BC Hydro for 35 years where he earned the respect of many colleagues and friends. Over the years, Dick enjoyed sailing, sheep dog trialling, family trips, running, camping and watching sports, especially Premier English soccer. We are blessed to have had him in our lives. When you think of Dick, smile. The service will take place on Saturday May 22nd at 2pm at the Boal Chapel. 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Lion’s Gate Foundation, Parkinson’s Society or a charity of your choice.

When we are sad and lonely And everything goes wrong, We seem to hear you whisper, “Cheer up and carry on.” Each time we see your photo You seem to smile and say, “Don’t cry I’m only sleeping We’ll meet again someday.”

HODDINOTT - Lucille Gertrude (nee Hicks) Lucille Gertrude Hoddinott, mostly known as “Lou”, was born in Grayson, Kentucky. She was known for her deep southern accent and quick rapier wit. Born to Archie Edward and Mary Ann (Rice) Hicks, Lou immigrated to Canada in 1961. She spent the last 25 years of her life on the North Shore, her 'favourite place on Earth'. All who knew Lou knew she was special. She was a person people were drawn to and she made friends wherever she went. Lou began to work as an MOA in Calgary, after a new doctor recognized her people skills while standing in line where Lou worked as a cashier. He knew she was the “right person for the job”. Lou ended her career after ten years of service for Dr. Stewart Madill in North Vancouver. She spent 35 years in the medical field and will be remembered for her warm smile and caring spirit. Lou’s people skills carried her throughout her life and her wit remained razor sharp. She never failed to catch you off-guard with a clever wisecrack. An absolute loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Lou is survived by her children Ed, Ginger and Bev; her grandchildren Shelly, Robin, Sherry, Jaymie and Brett; and her great grandchildren Justice, Chelsea and Joey. Lou loved life to the end. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 19th at 10:00 am at the Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver. Donations can be made to the Palliative Care Unit at Lion’s Gate Hospital.
