Carson experiences his first session with Madelyn Taylor-Charles. He starts to reveal the struggles that he is going through and the trauma that feeds his flashbacks. Madelyn discovers that this patient is unlike any of her other clients and begins to see that there is an intriguing depth to his trauma. The episode introduces us to Carson’s business partner and mentor and the side business that Carson created to make ends meet following the pay cut from an unwanted job change and a struggling economy. In a now, frequent move, Carson stops at a local watering hole in an effort to drown out any flashbacks while also seeking out some companionship. Striking out in both respects, Carson suffers one of the many regular flashbacks that are disrupting his world. He relives a hostage situation in which he spent several hours straining to get a clear shot of a hostage-taker while the victim screams and pleads for his help and to save her life.
