Anne Graffice joined Hall of Fame Resort & Entertainment Company (NASDAQ: HOFV, HOFVW) as Executive Vice President of Public Affairs in December 2019.

In this role, Ms. Graffice oversees community, investor, media and government relations, and manages all corporate social responsibility initiatives for the Company. Ms. Graffice is responsible for furthering several of HOFV’s strategic goals, including driving wide-ranging fundraising efforts, supporting diversity planning, and promoting the Company’s mission and value proposition to investors, consumers, and the media, as well as the broader public. Ms. Graffice serves as a key voice representing HOFV when working with municipal, provincial and federal authorities, and is the Company’s primary investor relations contact. In July 2020, Ms. Graffice was a key component of the transaction that made Hall of Fame Resort & Entertainment Company public through a merger with a Special Purpose Acquisition Company.

WITH ANNE GRAFFICE, HALL OF FAME VILLAGE

Previously, Ms. Graffice successfully served in a similar role at the Pro Football Hall of Fame, which she joined in May 2016 as Vice President of Development & Strategic Adventures. She served as the Hall’s primary corporate and community relations contact, and oversaw diversity programs and policies; controlled development and engagement for the Hall of Fame Village powered by Johnson Controls; and developed programming for the Center for Excellence.

Prior to that, Ms. Graffice served as Executive Director of Alumni Engagement at the University of Mount Union, and was responsible for a departmental budget and endowment fund of over $200 million, as well as helping the university secure $25 million through an 18-month campaign. She has also served as Chairperson of the Stark County Convention and Visitors Bureau, where she focused on driving economic development in the region through tourism initiatives. She also sits on the Boards of the Alliance Area Domestic Violence Shelter, Alliance Chamber of Commerce and St. Thomas Aquinas Board of Directors, and is a volunteer at the Alliance Food Pantry.

Ms. Graffice previously spent nearly a decade in wealth management and longterm retirement planning. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Mount Union College and a Master of Business Administration with a leadership concentration from Tiffin University.

CANTON CHAMBER MEMBERSHIP: TOUCHPOINTS TO TOUCHDOWN!

With the Hall of Fame Festival right around the corner, anticipation for summertime football, parades, concerts, hot air balloons, and fireworks is building! As much as we all want to be part of the excitement, we must keep our eyes on the goal (line) to score a (sales) touchdown. An offensive maneuver for our businesses and our Canton Chamber membership are touchpoints.

WHAT IS A TOUCHPOINT?

A touchpoint is directly or indirectly being seen, heard, or corresponded with by the same contact before a sale or connection is made. According to TrueList, it takes eight cold calls on average to reach a prospect; therefore, making repeated and numerous touchpoints with the same contact will enable you to be first in mind when a referral is required or to convert the contact to a customer or client.

Hubspot also suggests that eight touchpoints is the “magic” number to make a successful sale. While it is almost impossible to know the number of times you’ve made a touchpoint with someone, the effort to make consistent touchpoints is what matters most.

WHAT IS CONSIDERED A TOUCHPOINT?

A touchpoint can be anything from your company’s logo being seen on promotional materials, to a social media post being reacted to, an email from you being read, a conversation at a networking event, a promotion in a newsletter, a catch-up over a cup of coffee or lunch, volunteering on a committee or at an event.

What Opportunities Does the Chamber Provide for Touchpoints?

The Canton Chamber provides its members with a plethora of ways to make touchpoints, such as the following:

• Become a committee member to help plan and organize or volunteer at AultCare QuickConnect Luncheons, the Business Expo, Business After Hours, ystark! events, Vintage Canton, Light Up Downtown, the HOF Enshrinement Festival, or the HOF Parade. Contact a CRCC Ambassador or the CRCC event coordinator to find out how you can become a committee member or volunteer at an event.

• Attending events such as Business After Hours, Stark Forums, YP Meetups, Tip Clubs, Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies, and QuickConnect Luncheons to network and catch up with other chamber members.

• Sponsorship oppor tunities at events - have your company logo seen by attendees

• Member Directory - for a nominal fee, your company’s logo can be added to the member directory. (The public and other members can contact you through the directory.)

• Being tagged on social media by the Canton Chamber or another chamber member

Your Chamber membership provides you with ample opportunities to create touchpoints each month of the year. With each touchpoint you make, you gain yardage toward crossing the goal line, making that touchdown, and celebrating with a little end zone dance (we all do, right?!).

WORKFORCE UPDATE

We need willing businesses interested in the opportunity to hire and mentor summer high school interns who will be paid through the Stark County Community Action Agency/Ohio Means Jobs youth program. The interests of the students cover general business, health sciences, marketing, fine arts, law, engineering and other professions that eventually require higher education degrees. This is a great way to help unleash potential of our local youth and market your firm to a future workforce network.

Have you retired or reached a point in your career when you are contemplating retirement? And perhaps would like to keep ties to the business community without all the responsibilities and stresses that accompany careers in business? If in pondering those questions you think ‘Yes’ is an answer, you might want to consider becoming a mentor with SCORE.

Nationwide, the 230 chapters of SCORE welcome seasoned business veterans to its ranks of mentors/counselors. That’s certainly true of the Canton Regional Chapter that serves small businesses and non-profits in Stark, Holmes, Tuscawaras, Carrol and Harrison counties.

What is it about SCORE that its mentors enjoy and value? Several reasons are often cited.

• Mentoring/counseling enables retaining a connection to the business world without its being all-encompassing.

• Mentors enjoy seeing the light shine more brightly in a client’s eyes when he/she sees more clearly the path to success.

• Mentors enjoy giving back to the community at large.

• Mentoring/counseling provides opportunities for continuous learning.

• Mentors enjoy camaraderie with other seasoned business people.

Stark Forum: DRIVERS OF WORKFORCE HEALTH

Join us for the second event in a transformative four-part Stark Forum Series addressing the most pressing issues affecting the health and well-being of our business communities. On Thursday, June 22, Dr. Anju Mader, Chief Integration Officer for the Behavioral Health Access and Integration Collaborative, will present the latest data on the eight social drivers of health and draw conclusions on steps for businesses to better attract and retain talent.

As a community leader, you have a unique opportunity to drive change, create a healthier workforce, and ultimately realize a positive return on investment for your business.

With social drivers accounting for 50% of overall health, it’s more important than ever to take action. Join us to learn how your business or workplace can collaborate and innovate to create a healthier, more resilient workforce and community. Stephanie Werren, Vice President for Leadership Programs at the Canton Regional Chamber, will guide engage-

ment throughout the forum to further explore the connection between the data presented by Dr. Mader, Chief Integration Officer at Stark County Mental Health and Addiction Recovery, and actionable insights for businesses.

In the current work landscape, it’s crucial to adopt a new approach towards supporting workforce mental health that acknowledges it as both a moral obligation and a fundamental tactic for sustaining an employer’s most valuable resource -their employees.

The Behavioral Health Access and Integration Collaborative is a coordinated county wide initiative that aims to address the socioeconomic and physical barriers to behavioral health access, and creates and implements targeted interventions to increase access entry points. The Collaborative is led by Dr. Anju Mader (Chief Integration Officer), whose position is funded by Aultman Health Foundation, the Stark County Educational Service Center, and Stark County Mental Health and Addiction Recovery. It has an advisory commit-

tee whose membership represents the three funders, public health, a commercial healthcare payer, a local foundation, the local children’s hospital, and local behavioral health providers. Stark Mental Health and Addiction Recovery serves as its administrative and fiscal agent.

SPOTLIGHT COMPANY:

Equip yourself locally with resources and prevention strategies to make your workplace safer

Thousands of Ohio employers benefit from education, resource sharing, and premium savings* while actively participating in their local safety council. And you can join them.

In a BWC Safety Council you will:

• Learn techniques for increasing safety, health, and wellness in your workplace.

• Network and share best practices with other employers in your community.

• Identify resources to assist your accident prevention efforts.

• Access risk management information and strategies to reduce your worker’s compensation costs.

To earn a 3% safety council rebate on your workers’ compensation premium, meet rebate eligibility requirements in one of Ohio’s more than 80 BWCsponsored safety councils.

Participation is simple.

• Join or update your existing, active membership with the Stark County Safety Council by July 31, 2023.

• Attend 10 in-person safety council meetings between July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024.

o At least eight, or all 10, through attendance at local safety council sponsored monthly meetings, seminars, or special events.

o You can earn external training credit for up to two meetings through attendance at BWC-sponsored in-person or virtual training courses or in-person safety training from other external sources (e.g. industry associations, third party administrators, etc.). It is the employer’s responsibility to submit documentation to their safety council by June 30, 2024 for attendance at non-safety council safety training to qualify. Documentation must be an official certificate of attendance.

Additional safety council rebate eligibility guidelines:

• A person can represent only one policy number with their attendance at a safety council meeting or external training event.

• Safety council monthly meetings do not qualify for meeting credit for any employer not enrolled in that safety council.

• No matter the duration of the training, seminar, or conference, or how many employees participate, only one external training credit is earned per event.

• Safety training conducted at an employer’s workplace does not qualify for safety council rebate program eligibility.

• Virtual/online training does not qualify for safety council rebate program eligibility except BWC virtual training classes.

*The rebate offer excludes self-insuring employers and state agencies. Limitations apply to professional/ alternate employer organizations and their clients.

To receive the rebate, not to exceed $5,000 annually, employers’ policies must be current with respect to all payments due to BWC. Employers may not have cumulative lapses in workers’ compensation coverage in excess of 40 days within the prior 12 months. Additionally, employers must have timely reported actual payroll for the preceding policy year and pay any premium due upon reconciliation of estimated premium and actual premium. www.bwc.ohio.gov

The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced that the person at the helm for NBC Sports’ football coverage during its 16 years of ratings dominance, Fred Gaudelli, has been chosen to receive its 2023 Pete Rozelle Radio-Television Award

Gaudelli will be honored during the 2023 Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Week Powered by Johnson Controls that includes the Enshrinees’ Gold Jacket Dinner in downtown Canton on Friday, Aug. 4, and the Class of 2023 Enshrinement on Saturday, Aug. 5, in Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.

Gaudelli is credited with several innovations that improved the TV viewing experience. He introduced the “1st & Ten technology” (the electronically produced line that shows the first down mark on the field), the GoalPost Cam and the rotating clock/score box.

Gervasi Vineyard Resort & Spa partnered with TourismOhio, and joined more than 120 other attractions and destinations from across the state for the 2023 Ohio Tourism Day, held May 10 at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus. Hundreds of people, looking to make summer plans, attended the event.

To kick off the day, Gov. DeWine unveiled Ohio’s new brand: “Ohio, The Heart of it All.” The beloved theme with a modern twist captures the state’s Midwestern warmth and invites people to create a life they love here in Ohio.

Specialty equipment was designed and installed at the Magnolia facility that will produce 1 panel of plywood every 18 seconds which means that our processes are now fully controlled with no reliance on foreign made materials. This innovative, European inspired, manufacturing line is only the second of its kind in the United States and the first here in Ohio.

Pro Football Hall of Famer, Jim Brown, passed away Friday at the age of 87. Brown was a superb craftsman whose primary job was to run with the football for the Cleveland Browns. For nine seasons, he did it better than any player before him.

He played in nine Pro Bowls in nine years and was the game’s outstanding back three times. He closed out his career with a three-touchdown outburst in the 1966 Pro Bowl. At the time of his retirement, Jim Brown held a total of 15 individual career and single season NFL records, along with nine rushing titles for his career.

Carrie J. Freeman joined Krugliak, Wilkins, Griffiths & Dougherty Co., L.P.A. in 2022 as a summer law clerk, and returned as an Associate with the firm after being admitted to practice in 2023. Carrie practices out of the Canton office as a member of the firm’s Real Estate section. Carrie earned her J.D. from the University of Akron School of Law, summa cum laude, in December 2022, and her B.A. from the University of Dayton in 2013.

During law school, Carrie held internships with the Civil Division of the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office and the Western Reserve Land Conservancy where she gained a broad range of knowledge and experience in handling property-related legal issues. She also earned a CALI Excellence for the Future award in Professional Responsibility, participated in the Akron Law Review as an Assistant Editor, and spent time working in the University of Akron Civil Practice Clinic, which provides pro bono legal aid to indigent Ohioans experiencing housing problems.
