CEO UPDATE 27 September 2021 | 27 Mahuru 2021
Take time to Korero – a little chat can go a long way This week is Mental Health Awareness Week. This is the week that happens every year, where we should all pause, reflect and invest time in our own well-being. It’s something we all need to give attention and focus to – every day of the year, but this week serves as a useful reminder for us to turn our minds to our own well-being. We can’t care for others unless we first look after ourselves. This year the theme is ‘Take time to Kōrero – a little chat can go a long way’. The Mental Health Foundation chose this theme as it’s the little everyday conversations that make a big difference to our well-being. They can brighten our day, and help us create meaningful connections with colleagues, friends and whānau. Take time to kōrero this week – stop to have a chat when you get a coffee or make time for a 'mate date' to catch up with a friend. I encourage you to try a kōrero with someone you don’t know; it might make the day a little better for both of you! It’s amazing what that will do for your well-being.
