Optical Glass House is located in the hear t of Hiroshima, surrounded by large buildings and looks out into a street with plenty of passing traffic and trams. On the street side of the house, the architect built a garden and an optical glass façade to create solitude and peaceful spaces in these busy surroundings. This 8.6m x 8.6m façade is the main component of the design. About 6,000 pure-glass blocks (50mm x 235mm x 50mm) were used to create it. Borosilicate, the primar y component of optical glass, was used to produce a ver y transparent glass. As a result of, the facade looks like a cascade cascading downward, dispersing light and bringing a crispness to the air, creating a sanctuar y atmosphere in the middle of city.
