Young golfers enjoying a day of golf while learning the game The Canora Golf and Country Club hosted a day of junior golf lessons on June 27. Donna Rock, clubhouse manager, said things went really well, with approximately 20 young golfers participating, from age five to 15. Coaching was provided by Kelly McTavish and Terry Wilson. The day ended with a fun alternate shot tournament, with one child and one adult on each team. Rock said the support provided by the instructors and the interest shown by the junior golfers was appreciated in making the day a success.
Canora Tourism Committee working on exciting community projects as restrictions are relaxed Now that provincial pandemic restrictions are gradually opening up, the Canora Tourism Committee is able to meet and discuss community fundraising events for special projects. The outdoor maximum group size presently stands at 150 people, but come August, the province should be open fully for all public and social gatherings, according to Brandi Zavislak, community development officer. “We are fundraising for a variety of community enhancement projects,” s a i d Z a v i s l a k . “ We a r e dedicated to creating an
impressive tourism-friendly destination by adding numerous placemaking projects to our already beautiful community. We are a core group of 14 community- minded individuals who are dedicated to bettering and revitalizing our community.” Fundraising for upcoming community enhancement projects includes: outdoor speakers for downtown, new black street signs, new backlit welcome to Canora signs, street arches, and custom black plated signs for every business in Canora. “The list goes on and Continued on Page 2
Among the upcoming community enhancement projects for Canora is a new Town of Canora sign, which stands 20 feet wide by 10 feet high. The goal is to have one for the north entrance into town, and one for the south end.
