From the Principal’s Desk Dear Parents and Members of the School Community At this time of year nothing slows down, and this is certainly the case at our school.

Schools Spectacular It was my absolute pleasure last week to attend the Schools Spectacular in Sydney and watch our students perform, both in the choir and also one student as part of the Bangarra Dance Ensemble. The students joined with 5500 other students from around NSW to break the Guinness World Record for the biggest amateur variety performance. A huge thank you must go to Ms Susan Gottschall, Ms Toni Gibbs, Ms Lauren Aldrick, Ms Amy Neve and Mr Geoff Pelley who looked after all the students for the week they were away. Make sure you check out the broadcast of this event on Channel 7 this Saturday.

Year 11 Study Skills On Monday 21st November all Year 11 students were involved in a Study Skills Day organised by their Year Adviser, Ms Daisy Morrissey. The sessions included focusing on organisation and examination preparation, along with time management, career preparation and stress management. The day included a BBQ lunch where students had the opportunity to catch up with their 10% on Top mentors. It is hoped that more of these events can be organised for the students in 2017 as they prepare for the HSC. Students and parents are also reminded that the Study Sessions are still running in the STEM Centre every Thursday afternoon from 3:30pm – 5:00pm. Teachers are available to assist students with assessment tasks, study techniques and examination preparation, or students can use the time to complete their own tasks.

CHS Blue Congratulations to Georgia Kiel who has been awarded a prestigious Combined High Schools Blue Award for Softball Umpiring. Georgia was presented with this award at the state wide Blues Ceremony in Sydney on Friday 2nd December. This is a fantastic recognition for all the hard work and dedication Georgia has put into developing her skills in this area.

Presentation Night Our annual Presentation Night will be held on Wednesday 7th December starting at 8pm in the school hall. This is always a night of celebration where student achievements are recognised in the academic, sporting and cultural areas. Students who are receiving awards have been notified and invitations for families have been sent home in the mail. It would be great to see the school community attend this event.
