Connor’s Championship Ride

Local equestrian, 11 year old Connor Lane won the 2019 Marcus Oldham Australian Interschool Championship in Equestrian Showjumping. Connor competed against the best primary school aged children in the country to take out the events on his horse, Roseagle Earl. Connor and his family moved to Ferny Glen four years ago from Mount Nathan. His mother, Taqwa, said Connor goes to and competes for Tamborine Mountain State School and was very excited to be selected to be part of the Queensland team selected to go to nationals. Connor’s entire family are keen equestrians and his sister won two National titles two years ago. Held at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre this year, the Championships attracts more than than 2,000 competitors, family, friends and supporters from 100 schools from across Australia to compete in Showjumping, Eventing and Dressage. Competitors, aged 5-18 years old, are required to qualify through from the State Interschool Championships to the Australian Interschool Championships. Organisers said the Champioships is continuing to grow and is a major focus

for young equestrians like Connor. It is the largest equestrian grassroots program delivered nationally in Australia.

Canungra

The Championships are held in a different state each year and are expected to be held in Queensland in 2020.
