Introduction: The Darex MK4 Compound Gun is a compact unit designed to be installed on can, drum and closure lining machines. It is easily retrofitted to Darex lining machines (e.g. Darex 786/686), or can be installed on other lining machines with similar operating principles. The Darex MK4 Compound Gun is suitable for use with Water Based, Plastisol or Solvent Based Compounds. A full range of needles and nozzles are available to suit the required application, thus giving accurate control of film weight and placement.
MK4 Compound Gun System: Seal System – two different styles of seal are employed, lubricated chevrons for Solvent and Plastisol Compounds and non-lubricated gaiters for water based compounds. Solenoid Valves – can be supplied in either 12V or 24V format, EX or non-EX, to suit the lining machine in use. High speed spool valves are chosen to give repeatable performance and long service life. Pneumatic Components – the pneumatic components are the same for all the gun variants. The materials used are chosen to give low maintenance, long life with a high degree of repeatability.
Installation: Installation is a straightforward operation requiring only the location of the gun on the machine deck, the provision of the pneumatic services and the connection of the low voltage timing signal. The pneumatic services require low pressure and high pressure feeds. This enables the gun to give highly consistent opening times, and consequently film weights, whilst maintaining low wear characteristics. The low voltage feed to the solenoid valve would normally be supplied from a timing system linked to the machine cycle, such as the Darex CPT35 Dual Gun Timer.
