FAMILY Connections In-Hospital Food Programs Friday’s Snack Cart at Doernbecher Dinner at Doernbecher Monthly Lunch provided by Candlelighters Candlelighters Food Pantry offers hearty snacks and small meals

Sometimes you just need a snack or a hot meal to make a tough day a little bit easier. Candlelighters wants to make sure that families in the hospital are provided with both meals and snacks to keep them going through their long days. We have several hospital food programs that impact families at both Doernbecher and Randall Children’s Hospitals. Every Friday, the Snack Cart rolls through the halls of Doernbecher and we offer snacks to patients, family members, nurses and doctors to help make days a bit brighter. Dinner at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital provides an opportunity for families to be treated to a hot meal that isn’t hospital food! We can serve upwards of 75 meals on a busy night, and usually impact an average of 15-20 families. Patients at Randall Children’s Hospital who are there for both day treatment and who are staying long term, are welcome to come have lunch provided by Candlelighters monthly. Here we serve nearly 30 lunches and make a difference for 10-15 families during their stay. It not only breaks up the

monotony of eating the same thing, but also provides family members a delicious meal without having to leave their patients side while being able to connect with others on the same journey. Additionally, The Candlelighters Food Pantry offers hearty snacks and small meals to hungry tummies at any time of the day. It can supplement hospital meals or just be available outside of meal time, when you just need a little extra treat! Our In-Hospital Programs are provided 100% free to our families. Check your hospital bulletin board for meal schedules or ask your hospital staff where the food pantry is located. These programs are provided by donations and volunteers from our community.

Our mission is to provide a community of healing, hope, and light throughout the life-long journey of childhood cancer. We advocate, we educate, we build partnerships, and we foster solidarity for all families experiencing cancer.
