Temple retrial still on hold

Teen Book Club Cinco Ranch Branch Library will present Young Adult Book Club Wednesday, March 8, 3-4 p.rn., in the conference classroom. Teen readers will have the opportunity to meet with others who share the same love for great books, and have a lively discussion on the reasons a book or its characters were liked or disliked. Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said this week that she will take another 60 days to review whether or not to retry a former Katy football player in the 2007 murder of his pregnant wife. An appeals court had ruled in December of 2016 that David Temple's guilty verdict from the original trial be set aside and Temple was to granted a new trial. On Dec. 26, 2016, Temple was released on a $30,000 bond. Temple, a then coach with Alief lSD, was convicted of murder in the deaths of his wife and unborn baby girl in November of 2007. Temple had been sentenced to life in prison and to be eligible for parole after 30 years. Now the decision to retry Temple lies with Ogg, who said last week that she need more time to review the case before determining if Temple would be retried for

Katy Color Run Katy Color Run will be held March 25 at 8 a.m. at the APEX Medical Building, 25722 Kingsland Blvd. This family fun event is a joint fund-raiser between Christ Clinic, Clothed by Faith and Hope Impacts, non-profits that aid the under served in the Katy community. They are anticipating at least 500 people in attendance. The event will feature a Mascot led lK Kid's Dash at 8:00 AM and a chalk filled, chip-timed run 5K at 8:30 a.m. The race course is USATF certified. In addition to racing fun, participants can enjoy a post-race party featuring an entertainment stage, a Chalk Art contest highlighting local artists, fitness demonstrations, Kid Fun Zone and healthy food vendors.

Officers allegedly attempted to Calhoun, who resisted arrest, before apprehending him and transporting him to the Fort Bend County Jail. The victim in the case suffered only minor wounds from the stabbing attempt.
