e-ESO e-ESO is the European School of Oncology’s e-learning programme. The website www.e-ESO.net provides more than 800 distance-learning materials for oncology professionals that are free and without any commercial sponsorship. Selected sessions have CME accreditation. e-ESO was launched in 2008 to enable ESO to offer oncology education to a wider audience and to break down the barriers of time and travel. The main format started as the online discussion of a topic between an expert (Speaker) and a moderator (Discussant) held every Thursday at 18:15 (CET). Over the years, the programme has developed and the website now provides educational materials from ESO’s in person events as well as the live sessions.

TYPES OF EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS AVAILABLE Recorded sessions - live sessions that have been recorded and remain available online Future live sessions - scheduled sessions that are presented live online and offer interaction between speaker, discussant and participants Downloadable PDF presentations from past ESO events; Selected e-ESO educational materials have been organised into PATHWAYS: a series of sessions on a specific topic that provide a general overview. After completing a pathway, the attendee will be able to download a certificate of attendance.

TOPICS & TYPES e-ESO sessions are categorised both by topic and by type: Grandround Sessions - sessions on hot-topics Highlights Sessions - key takeaways from major international events From ESO Events - speeches given during selected ESO conferences Debate Sessions - discussions about differing opinions Oncoreview Sessions - balanced and comprehensive overview of a specific topic Clinical Case Sessions - discussions of clinical cases Oncology Basics - sessions on the basics of oncology Social Media Sessions

PARTNERSHIPS In order to broaden our audience and educational offer selected sessions are held in collaboration with ESTRO, EONS, ESGO, SIOPe, and other major European societies and foundations.

A recent collaboration with the social media group We Oncologists has enabled e-ESO to stream e-learning sessions via Facebook and Twitter under the partnership We Oncologists and ESO Presents. This partnership helps e-ESO to broaden its audience considerably.

e-ESO HISTORY The project was launched in January 2008 to offer a free, high-quality, easy tool for e-learning in oncology. We continually work to improve our communication outreach and as a result, the number of viewers continues to increase. The e-ESO team strives to provide the best service possible and offer the most useful material to its users and supporters. Our goal is to make a difference in the medical world by reaching the greatest number of medical care providers that we can.

e-ESO IN THE LAST THREE YEARS In the last three years, the number of live sessions and the number of sessions recorded during in-person events has increased as they are more appreciated by our audience. Recently, e-ESO has uploaded materials from the ESO’s Certificates programme.
