Cellular Phone Towers Boost the Risk of Cancer

Over the past few years, India's cellular phone users have grown drastically. This has automatically directed to installing more and more cell phone towers in the country. Also known as base stations, these towers have antennas that receive and send radiofrequency (RF) signals. To sufficiently cover the areas, these towers need to be scaled on structures such as water tanks and tall constructions, or their height should vary between 50-200 feet. The increased installation of cell towers in exposed regions is becoming a problem. Usually, these towers are close to residential areas and public spaces such as schools and hospitals. Cell phone towers and their radiation exposure are often associated with the raised risk of cancer and other health issues. Though there is little evidence to prove this theory, reports suggest that cell phone towers may have a link to cancer. For example, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has classified RF fields as "possibly carcinogenic to humans," based on limited proof that highlights a potential increase in the risk of brain tumors among cell phone users.
