Jason is so drawn to the Tenerife Magnet! K E D D Y ’ S Entertainment is continually on the look-out for new and different artistes, from all walks of life, who bring brandnew talent to this wonderful island. So we are pleased to welcome and introduce Jason Farley, an experienced DJ and compere. We thought it would be interesting to catch up with him, to ask a few questions about his life and career. We wanted to know what he offers as an entertainer, and why he left the UK, choosing sunny Tenerife to live. Apart from the obvious, which is our beautiful weather, coupled with our splendid backdrop of amazing scenery, it’s probably not that difficult to understand! There are, of course, other islands and beautiful locations which are similarly blessed, too. So why Tenerife? What is it about the “Tenerife Magnet” that appears to be so irresistible to our wonderful, talented, resident entertainers? Jason describes Tenerife as his little bit of beautiful paradise. He has travelled far and wide, working in many different locations, performing and hosting. But when it came to leaving the UK, and settling down and working more permanently in one place, Tenerife was a foregone conclusion! It is, in his opinion, an island like no other, because it’s so versatile, multi-national and

dynamic. He loves the fact that he can meet and make new friends, from all over the world. “I think it’s because I have been visiting Tenerife, and spending time here, as a holidaymaker, for over 16 years,” he said. “Consequently, I have built up so many happy, wonderful memories of partying here, having great times and being thoroughly entertained! My partner and I made the big move from the UK in August, last year.” Jason has worked in, and been involved with, the entertainment industry for 27 years, and can draw on a wealth of different experiences. He has been fortunate enough to have had the pleasure of working with some amazing people, who have supported him and helped hone his skills, over many

years. He prides himself on always being friendly and approachable, which he feels is so important. He says his role “is to make sure that the audience and guests are having fun, and enjoying themselves”. When he is working, his mantra is: “If the audience don’t leave with smiles on their faces, I have not done my job correctly”. One of his favourite, all-time highlights, was working with the fabulous Paul O’Grady on his TV show, hosting Paul’s wonderful and highly-successful aftershow parties in London, at the ITV studios. Jason has performed in several musicals, such as “Little Shop of Horrors”, “Jesus Christ Superstar”, “A Little Night Music”, and “The Mystery of Edwin Drood”, to name but a few.

He has also had the privilege of hosting large events, in beautiful and exotic places, such as Australia, Ibiza, Kos and South Africa. And now he is pleased to be settled here in Tenerife, performing as a DJ and compere. Jason’s journey into the music industry began when he was just a boy of 16! “I was given the opportunity of helping to host a friend’s party,” he recalled. “He was an experienced DJ, and went on to become my mentor. He encouraged me, and was very aware of my passion and love for all types of music and entertainment. “He was so impressed that he offered me a job, helping him as his ‘roadie’! And I was nicknamed ‘Apprentice George’.” Jason believes that there is no better

education than learning on the job. He wants to generate a great atmosphere, to enable his audience to have lots of fun, and create happy memories. “Working here is different from back in the UK. People are much more relaxed, wanting to have a great night out, and some well-deserved fun. Since being here, I have worked with some really supportive and excellent acts. The help and assistance, shown me since my arrival, has been wonderful. “And now, with the support of Keddy’s Entertainment, I am beginning to experience working more within the hotel industry, as an entertainer, artiste and DJ. “I thoroughly enjoy performing, and play all music, spanning every era and taste. I am pleased to be working with some truly professional people, who share the same passion and commitment as I do. “I would like to take the opportunity of mentioning what a pleasure it has been working with Tony Kay, as ‘Gary Barlow’, and

the sounds of ‘Take That’, before he goes back to the UK.” Keddy’s Entertainment certainly wish Jason a hugely-successful career, here in Tenerife. Whoever it was who said: “If you love what you’re doing, then you’re not really working’, summed up Jason, perfectly, as far as Keddy’s Entertainment is concerned! So, from all of us here at Keddy’s Entertainment, whether you’re visiting on holiday, or our lovely residents, make sure you continue to sample all our different, entertainment delights. Enjoy the cold beer, warm, winter sunshine, and have a very entertaining year. Hopefully, Tenerife will continue to attract a great mix of talent, providing brilliant holiday memories, as Jason has described, to create that “Tenerife Magnet”. Long may it continue!
